Removing autobelay is not the solution. Something like this is.
Great simple idea to combat the litigious issues around auto-belay. As much it as you might wish it wasn't needed, this will end up saving lives.
I take this back why would they charge 800 euro for what is essentially an ultrasonic sensor, a few LEDs and a gyroscope this should be $50 max

@@Progfrag yeah but only if they're not clipped in and it didn't go off. if they're clipped the only way you could get hurt would be if there was a mechanical failure in the auto-belay, which puts the fault on them. you could have hundreds of distance sensors, or even just a camera + vision model, do this alarm thing 100% reliably.
@@Nahte001 The price of a product isn't dictated by it's cost to produce but rather its value to the buyer. If this allows gyms to consider keeping or installing auto-belays, then it's worth that much and probably more. I don't know what the average gym pricing is where you're at, but in a relatively large city in the US, a single yearly membership would bring in more $ than the price you stated.
Its sad to see we live in a world where products like this need to exist because people are too stupid to understand that technology isn't magic
