My NC rear end feels like a pendulum when steering left and right. Also when I accelerate it’s pulling to the right and decelerate it pulls to the left. Would it be these bushes and do you know the power flex part numbers you used? Thanks!
Do they do colour matched ones..?
Seriously bro I really appreciate it
Dude your amazing I’m turboing my mx5 right now with your videos thank you so much for clearing up what to do with the evap lines
@@GodsSoberGopher Happy to help.
Need to do exactly this to mine, as always super helpful vid and I've ordered the parts you linked to, muchos gracias!
Turboing my mx5 and your videos have been great, how is the brake feel with these?
What is weird is my 2.0 NC1 engine from 2007 - has the extra holes already in the skirt side, 2 in fact each side, also has the intake valve dimples on the top of the piston
@WalkinSalmon different size piston so could be different design. I've not had a 2.0 apart yet.
Would you do that as a paid job for mine 60k 13 plate 1800
@Peterhallett1A I would consider it, but only the engine. I dont want to take them in our out.
The disk shield can rust to a point it starts touching the brake disk and make loud noises in high speed. One cheap solution is just bend it away from the disk
You could run your paraffin through a strainer (maybe a metal tea strainer filter) on the way out. That will catch any shavings so that you can see them. And as a bonus, you can then re-use the paraffin to do multiple flushes with it and make sure you get most of the shavings. I realize how old this video is, just came to mind while watching.
I'm about to do this fix on my NC. Removing the wiper blade arm is impossible due to corrosion. I have to get the arm removal tool so you should point that out. I wouldn't use a spanner to pry it off due to the possibility of damage. Why do you need to replace the grommet? I guess if you can it's good. Sealing around the old grommet is good enough. I would use plumber's tape for the screw itself.
Hey do you happen to have part number for these rubber boots? OEM prices are insane and I cant find any replacement for it - currently unavailable almost everywhere in EU.
I just searched mx5 mk3 steering gaiters on ebay and there's loads.
One more thing to add. PTFE or teflon tape on the insert can help prevent squeaking in the future even if the grease dries up.
Let's goooo
Does mk3 mean nc3?
@keev6221 no, there are three versions of the mk3. First is nc1, from 2009 nc2 and I think 2013 nc3
Great video. Has given me some ideas what else to do to my NC.
What did you torque the nylon nut back up to when putting the steering wheel back on? Or did you just hand tighten it as much as physically possible? I've got a new steering wheel (a stock one that's been upgraded) that I'll be replacing mine with tomorrow and that's the main thing I'm worried about getting wrong lol
Thanks for this, been on this a fews days now, air hammer got half the bolts out, ive only one wishbone to do and two link arms. Did you loosen up the suspension at all?
Appreciate your efforts. I just did something similar on my NB. Bought a cheap Ebay manifold, which of course puts the turbo where it hits everything in it's way. So I built a manifold that attaches to that manifold, that puts the turbo right up in your face when you open the hood. The turbo is also mounted to the engine block, to support it's own weight, so no stress on the cheap Ebay manifold. I got the idea from watching folks build crazy manifolds for cars that they don't make them for. Hardest part is waiting for parts to arrive from all over the place, and getting the right fitting sizes for the turbo , and lines. I pretty much TIG welded everything I needed to relocate. Guy at the welding supply knows me for sure .lol
Excellent!
Are you sure expansion tank should be full all the way to the top? I think there should be some room for fluid expansion otherwise it may blow off the cap.
@mnap89 for the ease of bleeding you get the water level above the highest part of the system. You can take some out after if you want to.
Thank you! almost ordered without these parts: Fog light rear left bracket - NP3251694B Fog light rear right bracket - NP3251684B Bumper to arch liner left filler - NP3250163BB Bumper to arch liner right filler - NP3250153BB Don't see these in your list. Can you confirm they are not needed? Nc2 -> Nc3 NP32-50-722 NP06-50-154 NP06-50-164
My car is turbo'ed so my intercooler goes there those parts would be. I do not know if you need them
@@CompletelyDriven i see, thanks. supposedly not needed, if you didn't make no custom brackets
Just bought a 2013 NC a few months ago. I really like the black rims you have but am confused about what will work. Can I put stock size tires on the rims you have. Would be kind of a deal breaker if not the tires I have are pretty much brand new. Or if you can recommend some black rims that I could use my existing tires with that would be helpful also. Had a 91 Miata back when I was a kid and didn't take care of it but it treated me well anyways and drove it for 15 years. Flash forward to 58 years old and wanted a car that was fun to drive and my mechanic didn't visibly cringe when it need some work and that old 91 Miata immediately came to mind so here I am back in the Miata family. No regrets so far other than the fact I didn't take care of the 91 but like I said I was young and dumb at the time.
The black looking wheels I had on until recently were Dare X5, the wheels size was 17"x 7.5 wide. The best tyre size would be 215/45/17, but the standard 205/45/17 would fit with no issue.
You put it very high,it is better to put it at the lower pressure point’s on the hood so the air pass and reduce the hot air from the engine bay.
I put it above my turbo
Can you replace all the coolant without removing the thermostat? And how much coolant came out of the radiator?
Brilliant video I am finding the same problem as you and you have saved me time and money with getting the right blades etc. Thanks!
Thanks for the feedback, glad it helped.
Great job I wish I had a garage to do mine
Great vid; especially including the torque specs. Surprised nobody gave you Sh!t for letting the caliper hang from the hose 😉
Great job on the engine. Amazing video. 48:56 "Valves and pistons did not meet, which is always a great sign" 😂
Incredibile video and amazing skill my 1.8 start to drink a lot of oil probably I need to rebuild aswell Does nobody now any company close to Leicestershire to sudgest?
Good video 👌 cheers
Just doing mine at the moment, nearly ready to put the Gravitex on, did you lacquer over the silver?
Just the silver top coat no lacquer.
@@CompletelyDriven excellent thanks
did u do a before and after temperature difference? i have a turbo like urs and debating to do the same
@@michaelhoolahan5717 no, sorry
Although it is commonly touted that an RX-8 yellow/yellow bar combination can result in understeer on the NC, I am very happy to report the yellow/yellow ARB combo does no such thing when combined with the excellent BIlstein B16 PSS10s. Balance is the same as the standard car.
Buying an NC for cheap soon, will be trying this exact setup
This is like a unicorn, so hard to find a video on it. Very well done and thank you.
Great job , think im going to have to do mine at some point , did you replace the rusty shield that was riveted on (above the subframe) and if you bought a new one where from ......thanks...
I drilled out the rivets, cut off the bad rust and painted it. I see most people buy from Mazda, but MX5 Parts sell them.
I note you have the gauge pod designed for dash top speaker opening - question is which gauges did you get to fit the pod

Is this Manual?
Yes
Where is Your Oil Temperature gauge?
On the shops shelf
What ECU do you use?
Standard, it's very good when you use Ecutek software.
@@CompletelyDriven thanks
I would try Ravenol with USVO and Clean Synto. USVO stands for Ultra Strong Viscosity.
W doesnt stand for weight. W stands for Winter
Yes, but have you heard anyone say I've got a higher winter oil...
@@CompletelyDrivenYou have answered Your own question.... When You said Yes. Have a look at 540rat oil testing...... Maybe Millers is not so good.
Thx 4 video I like this.channel. greeting from Poland xD
Great video - thanks ! Just did the same job on my 2007 NC after watching this but wondered what torque you used for the brace that connects to the back of the front subframe ?
Tight
Hi what wheel did you get? I don’t like the thin stick wheel and want a replacement
Fantastic
Looks like fun! Very nice scenery. Here in the states we have a pretty big Miata event coming in August called Miata’s At The Gap. It’s a huge gathering in the Smokie Mountain/Appalachian Mountain area. I think there were 1500 or so cars last year.
Hi, It looks like you did a nice job , but you shouldn’t clamp off the brake hose because I think you can damage the inside of it.
where was the fuel strainer/filter/sock on the assembly?
scratch that, I see it there @10:26
