@@MickeyD2012 you have no idea what your cat did to that bird. Did you tag the bird and have a vet examine it later? The bird was likely left with deep wounds, which a cat inflicts with little effort. Cats don't "play" with birds. They attack. I was a wildlife rehabber and vet tech, and have seen many birds and other wildlife die in agony from those wounds. Cat claws are toxic. They cut to the bone, and introduce bacteria. It is a horrible death, all for the selfishness of allowing an invasive species to roam outdoors. Wildlife harassment is illegal for a reason. Your cat is also vulnerable to severe injury. Starting with being poisoned or beaten by neighbours who've put their hands in cat shit. Cats don't get "lost." They disappear because they got killed, or someone took them way out of town and dumped them. Be a responsible cat owner. Keep them indoors. You can build a catio for outdoor time. Cats are the second most destructive element destroying Nature.

I hope your coverage limits were high enough to cover your losses! It looks like you had a lot of stuff in there. My neighbors went through something like this three christmases ago. They let their twin boys (10 & 11) spend the night in their detached three-stall garage, and one of the boys knocked over a small propane heater. The entire structure went up in less than 10 minutes... The Fire department was kind enough to send 5 trucks. It was wild! Unfortunately, their insurance company wouldn't cover anything because the kids were left unattended. (Said company covered my siding and roof damage from the fire, though). The neighbors ended up bulldozing what remained, and put a couple of those gaudy canvas tents on the slab. I don't know what was more upsetting to see: the way the insurance company jerked them around, or those tacky tents I'm forced to look at every time I pull into my own driveway... I hope your experience was better that theirs!
