Can You REALLY Hike Nui Dinh Trail in a Day from Saigon?
Can Nui Dinh Trail in southern Vietnam be hiked in a day coming from Saigon? Well, it can BUT you are going to want to secure your own transportation. My experience was that local buses will take more than 15 hours to reach the local villages and the direct route featured on Google Maps, doesn't exist (anymore?). So, secure a ride, be it a taxi or a rental - or alternatively, stay in Vung Tau and catch a shorter ride to Ba Ria from there.
There aren't a lot of elevation hikes in this part of Vietnam, so it's definitely worth checking out if your itching for a trail with a view.

    Hi Ivan! Your video is nice! Towards the end of the video you talk about rose hips and how you don't really know how you can eat them. We can't eat it directly as it is otherwise the hairs inside would sting us. We need to remove the seeds and hairs and cook the rest or put the whole fruit in boiling water for a few minutes and drink it like herbal tea. So here is a recipe Wild rose bush (Églantier ou rosier sauvage) Rose hip (Cynorrhodon) or more commonly called ass scratcher (gratte cul) in France because of their itchy hair. Rose hip jam Wash 1.5 kg of fruit, cut the black part, remove the seeds and hairs. Put the fruit in a saucepan with 1 liter of water and cook over low heat for 45 minutes. Pass everything through a vegetable mill, weigh the pulp obtained and add the same weight of sugar. Bring to the boil and cook until the jam coats the spoon. Put in pots Bon appétit! 😊

    Nice video. The advice is sound. And quite accurate. I will add one more thing There are 3 main bus companies LWB KMB and Citybus. As well as Green mini buses (Scheduled) and Red minibuses (unscheduled) All have websites that will give you bus route information. However KMB has an app that tracks all buses including Green mini buses that will tell you when a bus will arrive. Just open the app. Get past the annoying full screen adds and on the home page will give you all the buses that are around your location and the expected arrival time that is updated in real time. Also KMB has web site too Citybus I don't think has an app. Except for the Airport Express MTR is cheaper than taking a bus. Buses tend to be less crowded and during off peak times you can usually get a seat. Not so on the MTR which is usually busy all the day and sandwich mode at peak times With octopus the are 'Sold' and 'On Loan' On Loan require a $50 deposit However if you ask for a refund it will cost $11 or 1%. And you won't be able to keep the card after. Tourist cards Are sold and you need to add value before using. Also to note the Octopus card is real stored value card and is accepted at a lot. And I mean a lot. Supermarket, shoe shops, restaurants you name most shops even markets accept it.

    • @HKFromAbove
      @HKFromAbove 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I can't find that app your talking about. Octopus has a an official app that you can use to load your card. What I understand is that you can get an Octopus Card at the airport or MTR station customer service. Tourist octopus cards are sold with no value. On Loan cards can only be picked up at MTR customer service stations. Also as of Today MTR accepts Visa and MasterCard As do most of the buses.

    I don’t know which buses you’re catching but I’ve never seen a bus with an octopus reader at the exit door. You tap your card on the reader beside the driver when getting on, and that’s it. Trams on the other hand; you enter through the rear door, no tapping involved. Getting off you tap, near the driver, at the front door. The MTR (train) you tap entering your departure station and then tap when exiting your arrival station.

    How strange. I have a pair from I think 2016 and they have a full hard plastic toe instead of leather and the entire upper appears to be leather outer while mine are mixed with a kind of synthetic lair around the ankle and like a leather strap that cuts across it. Idk if it waa for more flexibility but the cross cut in the leather before the first hook right where your foot bends helps a TON for mobility and comfort. I have probably close to 1000 miles in them in the PNW and Rocky Mountains. Probably needs resoled but holding up for 8 years not bad at all. I wonder why they cnanged so much though? Maybe i should research it more but my only problem is i should have gotten wide toe version.

    This trip was amazing and a must do in Manitoba in 2024 while the water levels are low. For information on saving this endangered lake here is a link to the local NGO lakewinnipegfoundation.org

    Are they a true to size boot ?

    • @ivanhikestheworld
      @ivanhikestheworld 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I went up half a size which was totally necessary. I think the toe box would have been way too narrow otherwise. Even at half a size up, the toe box is tight. I definitely suggest trying them on first if you have slightly wide feet or more.

      @@ivanhikestheworld what size did you get for this boot? Do you have the same size in Nike sneakers? I wear US 9 for all my Nikes and for dress shoes (which tend to run a lot smaller, I wear US 7/ UK 6). Unfortunately I can't try Vasque boots in store and have to buy overseas, but I'm interested to purchase the Skywalker/Sundowner. Never had width issues.

    Do you need one Octopus card per person? E.q. if you're with 2 you'll need 2 or 1 card?

    • @ivanhikestheworld
      @ivanhikestheworld 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I'm certain you need one per person. The way the card records where you enter the metro, for example, wouldn't make it possible to record two entries.

    Thanks for showing us the beauty of Manitoba.

      It’s a strange place in that it doesn’t offer much in the way of high up views…but it makes you appreciate the beauty in other ways…like details you’d otherwise overlook.
