Shop safety tip!
Yes, I only made the cove cut on the table saw so the block would be more comfortable to grab. Lol. #woodworking #diy #wood #woodmade #woodshop #carpentry #safety

    Same thing at The Krenov School for the bandsaws. I’ve since added it to my shop. Big thing is if the block is on the saw it’s not on or shouldn’t be. If it’s not think twice because it’s sometimes hard to tell if a bandsaw blade is moving. So move it to use it and place it back when done.

      Yes! All around a good idea, and the more safety things we have in the shop the better.

      I have a Harvey and this is one of the few saws I’d replace it with. Of course the dream is to just add this on top of the Harvey. But will I ever need such a saw. Who knows. The throat capacity is the big advantage over Harvey and as far as other brands it usually takes an 18” to even compete on specs.

    • @blacktenonfurniture

      I like the Harvey brand, just wish they made bigger saws for sure.

    • @staceylewisdesigns
      @staceylewisdesigns 21 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา

      @@blacktenonfurniture Spec wise the Harvey’s are all 3hp motors and 14”+ resaw capacity. 13.5”+ throat depth. Both the ambassador and alpha have 14” resaw capacity so it takes the equivalent 17” or above from other brands to beat the resaw capacity so it it’s and they still usually have a weaker motor. Now not all motors are the same and manufacturers can fudge the numbers so it’s who you trust. The issue is even though these are highly capable and better than most, the top bandsaw manufacturers have bigger units for industrial work with larger throat capacity to cut slabs etc. I love bandsaws and that saw you have now is the cream of the crop to me barring old school refurbs.

    Beautiful shop. Always envious of ppl who find killer deals on machines. I’ve not been lucky in that sense. I really appreciate the fact that you didn’t pull out every drawer and show every tool and misc stuff. That personally drives me nuts. I’m working towards doing my first TH-cam myself soon. The weld started to give seconds before the snap, which is visible in the video by the blade bouncing a bit. In the moment I noticed the shake in the blade but did not relate that to the blade weld breaking. But I have learned for the future that this blade behavior is most likely a a failing weld, and might have enough time to turn the machine off before it snaps. Overall a pretty “safe” machine to have the blade fail on, as long as you are keeping your blade guard low.

    Nice shop. Glad you shared your story of progression as it’s tempting for newbies to want the best and all of the best now, I’m looking to build something in the 24 x 24 foot range. You said yours was approximately that size. Were you describing that main work area with or without the side side room where you stored the ash and shorter boards? Also how many 220 and 110 circuits do you have?

    • @blacktenonfurniture

      Hey! Yes, my main area is 26x26, then the closet butts Into some of it. That is not including the side room. Overall footprint is 32x32 if I remember correctly. I have 12 220volt outlets and 14 110 volt, all scattered around. I had the benefit of planning the space out for my shop, so had the electrical laid out for that. Lots of breakers!! Definitely go overboard if you can. Good luck!
