Nikon Z7 with a Sigma 24-105 F/4 Lens, this is 4K video cropped similar to cinematic movie format

TASCAM DR-05, about $100 new. When at air shows I turn the "level" on the DR-05 to the lowest setting, 1. This way when jets fly by in afterburner it wont "peak". Later on in Premiere Pro, I edit the audio using tube modeled compression, 10 equalizer (bass boost), and stereo expander.

Thanks! My goal was always to make videos with the most crisp, realistic audio as if you really were there.

@@YSAirbourne but there were some shot that was over exposed, the f22 was washed out by the sky, i couldnt se anything.

@@thinhnguyenduy4099 I believe that was during the vertical climb into the flat spin. With the way the sun was positioned, the jet was literally right in front of the sun. I had to stop filming since I couldn't keep my eyes open!

@@YSAirbourne Thanks man, one last thing, HOW ON *EARTH* do you edit the .dat files to make it look so accurate, also I why isn’t there a camera focused on one plane but instead the center of formations?

@@EpsilonAviation71 This was a long time ago. You have to mess with the roll rate, pitch maneuverability and stability constants, max input AOA, etc. Just dive deep into the dat and learn as much as you can about each item and TEST, TEST, TEST. And look at other similar dat files and learn how they edited it. But changing those items effects the airplane the most. As for the camera, I had an invisible F-16 flying smack dab right in the middle of the 4 with the same DAT file as the normal Thunderbird jets. I didn't care about how precise I was flying in formation with the invisible jet since any irregularities makes it look like camera shake. You can clearly see I used an invisible jet in my South Holland video

I used the Tiffen black pro mist lens that causes the highlights to bloom. This was the first time I used it at an airshow, so it was an experiment. Also I was filming right into the sun during the time of the air show which didnt help.

@@YSAirbourne and the trees just covered too much amazing moments, like the pedal turn maneuver at 6:28 but the trees covered much of it.

@@thinhnguyenduy4099 I understand. It's just the nature of the airshow grounds. Louisville isn't the best site for a show and I was standing basically on the shoreline inches away from the water

@@YSAirbourne but it is good for flares, cuz there are very little fire hazard around the show.

I flew them all one by one. First I flew the entire demo as #1. Then I selected another airplane and flew as #2 with the recorded flight of #1. Rinse and repeat and you'll get the entire 6-ship demo

I'm not sure what you mean. But if you want to know how I was able to center the camera in the middle of the 4 jets, all I did was fly an invisible 5th F-16 in the middle of the formation. That way the camera can get all 4 jets in the center of the frame instead of just centering on 1 jet

@@YSAirbourne I mean like when you are in formation recording each spot how do you look at lead (boss, #1) are you using track ir or something to look freely as #2 or any of the other wing man

@@eeyore5863 I don't use Track IR, I just fly with a mouse (I know, i'm crazy :P). But if you fly with a joystick, you can use your mouse to move the viewpoint around in the cockpit. Just go into the settings under joystick (I believe) and you should find it.
