Making More Business Card Boxes
With some scrap pieces of spalted maple used in an earlier Coaster Set project (see link below) I am making two simple boxes to hold business cards.

    I have a similar system on my Bosch 12". There are three more things you can do to virtually eliminate the risk of having a blowout like that again. The most import thing being a zero-clearance fence. You can easily make one from plywood or even some scrap lumber. There are many videos on youtube showing how to make these. The amount of support you showed for that last cut is nowhere near enough. You were lucky! The other two things is one, slow down a bit more while making your cut (especially small pieces like that) and more importantly, number two, NEVER lift your blade back up until AFTER it has stopped spinning. As the blade slows down, it is actually more likely to cause a kick-back. So lifting the blade while it is still spinning is a bad idea. Otherwise, great video and good luck! You earned a subscription from me! 🙂

    • @keithminnionwoodshop
      @keithminnionwoodshop 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I don't do many product or tool reviews on my channel, sorry. I did try the Natura product once, and found it 1) Way too expensive for my woodworking budget, , 2) It produced a finish that was no better than more traditional (and cheaper) products), and 3)The can itself was practically impossible to open! Very weird packaging.

    The Butter Boards I saw were much longer. You make different flavored butters, ie: sea salt, garlic, honey, etc. And then serve French, sour dough Hawaiian, etc., breads, letting pick their own flavors.

    Nice job, Keith, thank you. I've had couches with those lousy plastic block feet. Watch out for where your wooden ones screw in. The connector can be just as cheap. I would probably have made the new feet square also; then it doesn't matter which side ended up forward. But you got it.

    Well...I get it. Great visual gift, and as I have done a little cooking and baking, I remember trying to wrestle with a sliding piece of buttery slippery wax paper that at one time was wrapped around the stick of butter. Cutting the butter sorta accurate with the marks on the paper gets worse with each cut. I like it. Will be making one for a gift for my grandsons wedding along with a few other kitchen items. Need to add a walnut knife to the project.

    • @keithminnionwoodshop

      Because I prefer to have total control over the overall grain pattern of the fields. I do a lot of swapping around before I reach for the glue. The boards are more individual bespoke items, since I never intend to go into “production mode” to make a lot of them quickly. Thanks for the question!

    For those of you who are clueless about what a butter board is actually used for: The Carnivore diet is an 80% fat (frequently in the form of butter) and 20% protein. So, in order to get their fat portion of the diet increased they use the butter board to basically make butter into an appetizer with seasonings, etc. It’s not for simply holding a stick of butter until you want to butter your toast. Think charcuterie board with butter and meat.

    Most of the butter boards I've seen are substantially thinner, but I do like the graduations you put on them. One fun item of note on those... butter in the western part of the country is much fatter/shorter sticks than those in the eastern part of the country (like the stick you based your measurement on) so your measurements only apply to them. :)

    IMHO it is a novel idea but i find it hard to believe (especially in this economy) that enough people would spend $40-$60 for board that does the same thing that is already incorporated on the butter wrappers. Don't get me wrong, it looks great I just can't see it as a productive item.
