    It does not seem that difficult to make like a $1 liner for these so you can just toss the liner like w/paint. I'm surprised they don't make them. The flakes on the side still are bad because they chunk up the next day's mortar.

    At least wash and clean the sides down before it gets hard otherwise your just mixing in hard stuff with new stuff.

  • @liquidsnake6879
    @liquidsnake6879 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Ideally you would've already cleaned it before it got to this point, if it gets to this point try using brush tips on your drill and some water to try and dislodge the stuff on the sides, ideally you want a really clean bucket for the next time otherwise you might get stones in your mix which will leave ugly marks on your walls, you always need at least two buckets, one just for cleaning stuff, i use some mesh stuff as well and move water from bucket to bucket through the mesh, catching any solids in the mesh and dumping them out with my debris and then using the brush on my drill and a little water it gets the buckets good as new, i also use a mesh when dumping out the leftover water, just in case some solid stuff comes through that i don't want on my pipe system but at that point any leftovers would be tiny

    Why would u wanna do that? Lmao that takes just as long ad gettin a bucket scoop and gettin it all out while it's wet. The u fill the bucket with some water and use a sos pad or aomethin to wipe it clean. U do it how I just sad and ur bucket stays bran new until it breaks. Are you even a real tile guy if u don't know how to clean a bucket?

    the problem with the thinset on the sides is that when you mix your new mortar the dried chucks will come off and become mixed with the new batch. Then when you trowel out the thunks will drag which becomes problematic.

  • @smallnuts2

    thank you, did this today. worked perfectly. washed the rest out with a sponge. I think maybe a SOS pad would be better than a sponge though, to get rid of little thin set sticking on sides etc.

Hope you can comprehend.

      Come on everyone, my Mom taught me, if you cannot say anything nice, please do not say anything at all and that is sooo true. There is just way too much nastiness on all the social media when someone speaks out of turn. There is no accountability. Would you say something bad to your Grandmother to her face? Of course not, well, please do not do it when someone is sharing something useful to all of us. Social media is meant to help all of us, refrain from making any bad comment, it is just so uncalled for, be respectful!!

    • @allent1034
      @allent1034 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      It is really not good to wash thinset out of your bucket. Where do you dump the water? It actually goes somewhere. Maybe you don't care because you are dumping it on your customer's property or in their drain. Take a little care and scrape it out when it is still wet and put it in the trash or do like this video.

    • @jtbmetaldesigns
      @jtbmetaldesigns ปีที่แล้ว

      A slight modification is to clean the sides of the bucket while is still wet then full bucket all the way with water with a smidge of dishsoap. The cement mixture is hydraulic and will set in the bottom leaving sides clean. Decant water into a dumpster or paved surface and just pound out the bottom only.

    The only things I would add are that the thickset should be added to the water , not vise versa. Also, using a mixing paddle with an electric drill makes a world of difference when preparing.

    • @yadayadayada4674
      @yadayadayada4674 4 ปีที่แล้ว

  • @ashleycat11
    @ashleycat11 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    I'm a novice, but won't the mixing paddle scrape hard chunks off the bucket into the new thinset? I imagine the chunks would compromise an otherwise even layer of thinset, or be a pain to pick out.

    • @chhprojects8335
      @chhprojects8335 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes. You should clean out as much as possible. However, if you mix another full bucket of thinset, the small pieces are ineligible, and something they just got stuck on the bucket sides and bottom and wont even come off. The point of the video is to reuse the bucket instead of using a new one every time. Thanks.
