Great vid chaps
Great to see someone else enjoying the track! In February I overnighted at Blue Range then went via Cow Creek for second night at Arete Forks hut. I can see why that track is considered one of the hardest in the Tararuas - I think about 7 major ups and down and quite a number of windfallen trees near Cow Creek to circumnavigate. A really good workout and a pretty hard walk out to the car park. Great little huts though. What camera did you use? Nice quality.
@@jeffc1604 Thanks. I used GoPro Hero Black 12 for this video
The river walk if low is worth doing and avoids the big climb over the top ! and is MUCH quicker
Looks good
Give it time, humans will destroy it.
Brilliant observation. This lake is a 2 day hike from civilization, with a very high hiking experience level needed. It's this clean right now because garbage people can't get to it.
It's why it's known as a heritage listed area by UNESCO. No mining, destruction or development, areas taken care of by Maori and DOC/Department of Conservation.
National bird of NZ
Wht do they eat
You are lucky to see that little spotted kiwi especially during the day - hopefully this will become a more frequent sight for locals - a huge credit to the work that went in to achieve this in the area: a big high 5 to all the people engaged in predator trap work :)
It's at Zealandia. Pine needles and is a Little Spotted Kiwi rather than a North Island Brown Kiwi
Wow. Nice
Wow! Well spotted!

Very good. Well done! Not a easy tramp!
what month do you hike sir? nice vid 😊
@@sptncreatives Thanks. All year round 😃
Crazy difficult hike!
Did this one in february 1986. Starting at Blue Lake hut, over the Waiau-pass , to Caroline bivy in 8 1/2 hours. It was a beautifull day, great hike, great views, one of my best NZ tramping days. This vid brings back great memories, thanks for uploading !
dirty guys and gals!
Kinda looks fun!
Nice video. Thanks for sharing. 👍2
Amazing, I discover your TH-cam Chanel by chance I reconze your voice and to check if it was you, I check this video we are the couple from the other tent All the best in your adventure!
Oh hi Louis, thanks for recognizing my voice. How are you? Where are you now?
Excellent video thanks - you chose the best way going anticlockwise: definitely my preference after numerous loops. You managed to get across the beautiful scenery and forest very well. If you pick one of those amazing clear frosty days after a southerly and snow it is a great trip with the summit (and muddy sections) rock hard with frost and the Tararua Range looking amazing. A 6 - 7 hr hike or if you are a nutter trailer runner an approx 3 hour loop. Just to remember to take appropriate gear. Look forward to seeing more mate :) Kiitos
Thanks 😊
Very nice 👍 thanks for sharing 😍❤️
Very nice and beautiful 😍❤
Wonderful video. Thanks for sharing. 👍11
That's a beautiful track. Thanks for sharing. 🙂
Nice video. Thank you for sharing. 👍3
1:01 is it eatable ?
Nice
Hi Aaron, we are thinking of doing the Mueller Hut in June, is the avalanche transmitter, shovel and ice axe required? Are you allowed to climb without one? Really appreciate your help! Thanks!
Literally, they are required. If you go to Mt Cook visitor center to check in, staff will ask if you have these. But I saw some people walking up without these gears. But I would recommend you take these gears and how to use them. Otherwise you might be in trouble if there is avalanche risk, or it is icy on the track.
@@aaronzhao6337 Great advice, thanks mate!
Gives an excellent idea of what it is like.

Great video! Did you call the planes or were they just there?
We booked it before we went there. We knew the bridge was broken and we needed helicopter to take us
Loved watching your video, thank you. It brought back so many great memories from when I did the walk. Cheers from Australia.
Thanks
Nice quality Trailblazer, I loved that crossing at 8.23,great presentation alround.
Thanks 😊
Love New Zealand from Bangladesh and I also support New Zealand cricket team❤🎉
I understand the huts aren't bookable and are first come first served. But do you need to buy the hut tickets the day you start the track or a day before? It would be great help for this info thank you!
Yes, you need to buy the backcountry hut tickets before you walk the track. Noting that generally it is busy the first week after great walk season. So it's good to book the transport as early as you can. The transport service provider will tell you if it is fully booked or not. They are responsible to make sure huts will not overflow and will tell you if there are already too many people.
@@aaronzhao6337 That's a wealth of information thanks so much Aaron! Beautiful video :)
did you use crampons/ice axe? did you hire?
Yes, I did use crampons and ice axe. I have my own gears
You had stunning weather for it, Aaron. Thanks for sharing it with us. Cheers
Wow I was hiking this very trail 5 weeks ago. Feb. 2024 so great to see this now.
Thank you for the fine video of your walk . Did you walk in the Kahurangi? I have uploaded the "Kahurangi" song to you tube . You may wish to listen to it .Cheers and happy tramping.
No I haven’t walked Kahurangi. Would like to walk. Thanks for your song!
wonderful video I plan to go there .thanks 🍺
I get that you foreign people are sweaty and tired and want a swim on a hot day. But have you, just once considered the impacts this activity may be having on our pristine water supply chain further down stream, and also when someone swims in a glacial lake or fresh water Springtown contaminate it with their own germs and foreign bodies they are carrying and wah it off in that once pristine waters. In Aotearoa New Zealand 🇳🇿, we pride ourselves on leaving things as they were for the next generations. Leaving gates closed if they were closed when you came upon them, if open, leave them open. Same with our lakes and landscape. Thousands of individuals having little dips with sweaty bodies. Not so pristine. Please spread the word and try stopping this practice. Or maybe we Kiwi's start charging for the swimming and climbing over cultural monuments people think are boulders etc... Not having a go, just trying to make people aware. When I did the Milford Track in 1980, I stayed in a tent. The first 2 data were dry, the second 2 days we walked in wist deep water. I was only 10 years old then. I grew up doing this adventure sports..Please respect our Whenua & Tikanga .
Are you being serious?
😂
So you think that local Kiwis don't take swims on a hot day?
Beautiful day and video! I am hoping to go up the Syme Hut way (leaving at 3am to catch it at sunrise) before summer is out, and then up to the top from there. (Have been up twice the usual way, but no way could I have run down the scree like you!)
Syme Hut way is also on my list!
Looks like a fun day!
It was super fun!
Ouah!,, Bravo ! Very hard and strong team ....over all the younger😂🎉😅 !
