One approach could be to create hexagons by extending the petals with chains of 7 in green behind the flower, connecting to the tops of the green relief stitches. Then, switch to the background color for the hexagon, working 8 double crochets (dc) in the chain space and 1 Treble (tr) in the relief stitch. You can finish the pentagon with a contrasting color if you'd like with a round of sc . Alternatively, transforming the flower into a six-petal design might harmoniously suit shapes like hexagons or squares for a more straightforward afghan. Thanks for a great question 🌸
