Ian can use only hand guns, smgs and knives. He have no animation for others. Which is one way good, as you don't be affraid for friendly fire from heavy ones, but it also means he's pretty ineffective in late game. Reading books in Glow is bad idea as you can easily get lethal value of radiatuion when doing it.

You should have turned tutorial on. Hint: As wizard, you are not meant to fight in melee. Also, put on the spell "mage armor" :-)

It's not just similar to D&D, It's based on D&D 5E rules - with some minor changes due to video game medium. Dragonborn have abilities (breath and resistance), but both depend on element you will choose with a sub-race. Main difference between Wizard, Sorcerer and Warlock: Wizard can learn additional spells from scrolls, which allows them to have wide repertoire, but he have to cast spells as they are. Sorcerer have limited number of spells he can choose to learn, but he can manipulate them to alter their effects. Warlock is limited to combat oriented spells, but have some extra (which Wizard and Sorcerer can't learn). He also get some combat abilities. For beginner best choice is probably a Wizard. Experienced players usually do some multi-class mix to combine their abilities. Background is one example where Larian (publisher of BG3) bend the D&D rules. Normaly it only gives you skills (and possible RP). In BG3 you will get focus points (= re-rolls) if you do decisions which follow your background. BG3 have completely new story independent on BG1&BG2. But there are some places and characters players who played previous games can know.

For what it's worth, you can always talk to Hunters but we never really get close enough and they always just open fire anyway - similar with the various factions that we can talk to but they basically have nothing to say. Your 9x39 sniper rifles are integrally suppressed (Winter BK/ZZ Vel) by the way. IRL about 3/4 of that barrel length is actually the suppressor lol basically everything from the handguard forward - considering they're older than I am, they're pretty cool guns (I'm 43).

This is common problem in Fallout 2 (I said Fallout 2 as you playing with mode which brings Fallout 2 features including companions AI). If companions are short of AP to use a gun, but have enough to use knife/fist, they automaticaly swith to it. But nothing made them to switch back.

There's a quest to help Killian against Gizmo. But to get it you have to help Killian with the assassin. Dealing one damage is enough.

Actually there's a way to deal with radscorpions without killing any of them. But you need a dynamite from Vault 15. And even if you killed all of them, you can still blow up entrance for extra 300 XP.

It's tough knowing what is and isn't really a spoiler when someone is learning, so I'll keep to answering questions and avoid any more War & Peace length comments lol. Good to see you're finding stuff out as you go and not just repeatedly banging your head against the same wall. Kinda amusing watching new players with this because it's deceptively complicated for a simple looking pixel shooter which can make some people approach it without trying solutions beyond their first thoughts. You mentioned before that it'd be nice to do things away from the workshops etc - sorry to say not much is coming there. The more hardcore extraction shooters lean heavily into what Tarkov calls "playable realism" - it's a bit like an arcade mil-sim, which is why we can mag dump someone with HP ammo and it does nothing if they have just the slightest armour and things like the specific meds and low carry weight - it's not intended to be convenient, it's meant to be a struggle as such. That said - you're doing well with it and you've forced me to start a new play through for the first time this year - new players remind me of the fun, older players have a few sharper complaints and their own established meta that we built up over time lol where I'm an anti-meta gamer, trying to do the most with the worst gear. Edit: A bit late now but I have weapons on F1 and F2 or ½ (key to the left of 1) and F1, depending on mouse config - I have 6 or 12 thumb buttons. You can then re-assign the 1, 2, 3 etc for meds and have frag grenades up around 5 or 6, to avoid mixing them up. 4 is the spacer that gets a food item. lol love that you found the perks. See as we can put stuff on autopilot, we have the extra attention to look around, that's my logic - we find stuff when we have the spare capacity/curiosity to do so.

For a game that looks like Cannon Fodder it does a good job at somehow having immersion.

War thunder stream today?

Kedr go brrrrt. It's a good idea to have meds in the quickslots before we engage and need them. Also there are good and bad ways of using the meds. Talk to people around the bunker for lore and details. I know you'll have figured it out by now but for new players watching along - Ctrl + Click to transfer items to/from inventory. Lift and Ctrl to split ammo or items into smaller stacks. - Quests can be accepted in the bunker from the Barman, the Doctor (keep going right and then down from the Barman) and the Networker (Left and down from the Barman) as well as the Army factions once we unlock them. And a stranger or two on the maps, somewhere. - Eat and *sleep* (when it's dark is usually a good idea) and drink as needed. Cursor over the icons in the top left to see where you are in terms of needs. Being thirsty or hungry will reduce your carry capacity - I'd suggest not shooting the Scientists (small group hanging around the major anomalies with colourful armour) or the guys who have a house and patrol around it playing instruments out in the wild, they're the Loners - the Barman's people that we do quests for, so killing them is a good way of making the grind harder and longer because you'll constantly be losing rep for killing friendlies (well they were to start with until we made them our enemy - if that's the way we went lol). Both groups are well armed and give us quests and rep - as do Green Army and their Western counterparts. Friendly units speak nicely to us, the rest shoot us on sight/within range - it's quite easy to figure out who is who from that lol but not always so easy to survive a wrong call. - Only Bandits and animals can be killed without consequences, Map Bosses and their guards are Bandits.. - Igor - don't kill old Igor on your first playthrough - he gives quests and has a loot box we can search whenever we see him. Some of us like to keep the old boy supplied with food or meds or whatever, just for the RP.. He has a scoped Mosin but they're easily available anyway, so it's not even "good loot" and well, we all need a friend out in the woods. - Get that hideout/base building going, it's a lifesaver for meds, modding and repairing weapons etc. - A torch is a mod, like a laser or suppressor - we need to fit one to the weapon in the bunker before we can use it.. The only free light is daytime, we don't come kitted with one until we find or buy one, or get one as a quest reward. If you really want some pain - try UnReal World, the OG top down survival rpg set in Iron age (?) Finland - it's free on their website (1 update behind Steam version) and if you like it you can support them on Steam. It's from the 90s!! and they're still regularly updating it - has no store or any other payment beyond the game purchase on Steam.
