I'm sorry, but a sense of being in control, an internal locus of control does not come from prioritizing. It comes from skill based control over your personal perspective so that you can decrease the amount of stress you're feeling in any moment--regardless of the circumstances. The rock, gravel, and example has been around for decades but depression and anxiety are still growing at alarming rates. It is addressing symptoms--not root cause. You can control how you react to any circumstances if you learn and practice the right skills. Things like flex time are not within individual control--that suggestion does not empower people because it is still up to someone else. Trust is important, but how do you know who to trust? You have to provide tools that people learn to trust that enable them to know when to trust and when not to trust. Exercise and purposeful breathing decrease in the moment stress but they are both dose dependent. Reframing failure is a great technique as is looking at experiences that are not as you wanted them to be from the perspective of what was learned. Pre-paving (or visioning in advance) is a great way to make things come out the best they can.
