I was sorry to hear him so dismissive off The Wombles. Mike Batt is such a huge talent and speaks with great respect for Chris. Mike clearly enjoys working with him. There's some brilliant music on those Wombles albums and I would have hoped that they would have featured with more affection in Chris' career and interview.

Glad you posted this. These sweet kids are now mature seasoned musicians songwriters and performers. Their excitement level still remains. Meeting with them in 2023 was a special experience. First saw them on stage in 2019. Now my fave band since the Beatles. 🇨🇦

Martin was the hot bellied boiler that chugged the Tull train along. Every incarnation and sound HE handled with his axe to perfection and in reality was that unique sound that distinguished Tull from all others. Never the showman, he lets his licks sear a place in your heart that pop into your brain and you find yourself subconsciously humming. Love you Martin. Blessed to have seen you perform. Keep traveling that fretboard and making those notes dance in the minds of all.

This is a fantastic interview, in a horrible location, that confirmed many of my suspicions about how the rest of the band was compensated for their efforts, especially during Tull's best years '69 to '80. Barre is a class act and explained the situation honestly without regret. Ian was a brilliant singer, lyricist, guitarist, and song writer, no doubt, but I listen to Tull, primarily, for Barres contributions to that music. Tull's best albums are where Barre is permitted to shine! Nobody can remove that fact, and Tull is not Tull without him, nor will they sell me an album without him. Harsh, perhaps, but true. Was Ian bitten by the Greed Gene? Hmmm....

Watching this video makes me think many things. One, sometimes his mannerisms reminds me of an ex who was the first to use me for money as far as I'm concerned. But then I was thinking how he acts all twitchy and jerky and sometimes I think they're mocking the fact that I'm shocked all the time, so I'll reiterate that I don't usually jerk like that and that it's usually a muscle spasm. So fuck this bitch or whoever it is. The other thing I was thinking about is how I went against my own beliefs and it fucked my life. His mannerisms are like an ex who had super long hair, and the thing is when I was young I was attracted to long hair because it meant or was supposed to mean you're not military or corporate, which is something that I've always thought was corrupt in my life. Of course they ruined that idea or ideal as they ruin every way mankind and others try to portray their values. My ex however had none and fucked me up as all the other males that came into my life with shorter hair that I saw was obviously just growing, but didn't think from sheer loneliness and trying not to be judgemental. All those disgusting things screwed my life and now I know I was always right about the corruption of the military and corporation and kick myself all the time for letting me be duped by those disgusting things that I say aren't real men at all anyway. Long hair used to have meaning and the things that used and exploited me knew how I felt about both factions that I say are full of males and females that are mostly psycho and greedy. I always wanted to know a genuine man with morals and I got tricked and used by the things I never wanted anything to do with in the first place. Things that never had respect for my ideals and don't really have any of their own.

I think that I (or some fans), love about Pat Travers is that he may have not went super stardom at the moment that he really should have, but I like him so much because he just rocks it because he loves playing to this day. I consider Pat Travers to be untarnished by a brutal industry. By far one of my favorite guitar players ALWAYS!

This interview took place a while back, but it's great to see Martin being so healthy and articulate. His guitar playing is always brilliant and unique and has had a very positive influence on my life as a rock fan. I was lucky enough to see Jethro Tull in L.A. in the early 70s and it was one of the best concerts I've ever seen. And Aqualung is one of the best albums I've ever heard. After Aqualung came out and I bought it, I played it EVERY morning for six months while I got ready to go to work. Thanks for the memories, Martin.

The noise isn't an issue, I understood what there saying. It's great the interview is in what looks like a back Street greasy spoon . Shows the measure of the man. Ok he doesn't have Clapton or Pages fame and exposure but he's a relatively famous multi million pound guitar player.. happily been interviewed in a cafe. And that's makes him brilliant.

Martin came through the best years with tull and contributed greatly to their brilliance but I guess that all good things must come to an end also it seems mad that someone as outstanding as Ian Anderson has such a fragile ego.
