Uniden r8 which version
I just got the unhiden r8. I realized mostly cops is the KA band one. But I keep getting false detection, it’s so annoying any fix to it ? Also when police are running radar, is it only KA band or could it be the others, the x and the rest. I don’t really know much about radar detectors.
Watch the TH-cam channel “Vortex Radar” he will explain everything. But for some short notes. Turn off X band, K band is a mix of false alerts and cops (depending on your region), and KA band is always a cop
x band is trains and stuff, i had k band be cops as well. ka is always newer cop cars/ state troopers
Been using my R8 for years now and the only time it failed me was when they weren't running radar but a dragoneye xD

Just bought the R8. Much better reviews than the redline 360.
Did you have to tweak the settings heavily? Or does it work good on Auto mode out of the box? I have a Uniden R8 Extreme Long Range, and in Florida.
I used a slightly modified version of Vortex Radar’s settings. I essentially followed along with what he setup, then adjusted it for my own region

Kinda not really. I started over 8 years ago, but I was young, couldn’t afford repairs, and just stopped after a few months. Now I’m coming back into it and this is my (approximately) third day flying my 5in drone
IMO, you've got to find a better place to fly! Open fields are the most boring place to fly...period! Nothing to fly around, through, over, under, etc. Yawn.😴 Try a park with trees all over. Weave in and out of the trees going a different route every time. It's hard to believe this is the place you chose to fly. Not trying to be a hater, just you can easily find almost anywhere that's better than an open field! 🥴😕

I'm going to have to try acro one of these days. First thing I'll probably do is end up in the top of a 160 foot Douglas Fir tree. lol.
Bro, you can't do flips and rolls in anything other than Acro mode.... I guess horizon mode can do some of that but who actually uses that?

you should have done literal day two :) all my videos match up to every flight i've taken since i started. its been fun to go back and see just how bad i was at the beginning.
Well it was a mess from the start. My day 1 video is technically day 2 because my sd card for DVR didn’t arrive on time. After that I got sick so over the next week I just wasn’t flying enough to make a video, so I combined a bunch of clips into this “day 2” video. Hopefully day 3 and beyond will be more accurate lol

@forkbombfpv yes! Went to your channel and peeked in to your progression. That's kind of what my endeavor looks like with FPV. I came a long way and the learning neverstops. Happy flying 😊

I tried hd zero I just don't think it's worth the price for the breakup and as far as the latency thing I've flown analog hd zero and now I'm flying walksnail with the goggles x and zero issues and range and penetration is way better than hd zero nice rip though
Honestly I prefer having breakup compared to my bitrate being lowered without me knowing on WS/DJI, but overall I went with HDzero for the uncompressed video, that’s important to me even more so than latency
nice first rip! also thats bold choice in location. i still have ptsd from the first time i got a quad stuck way up in a tree.
Yeah I saw the location and just had to fly there, so far I’ve crashed into more trees than I’ve been stuck in, hopefully it stays like that
heck yeah First day on a 5" killing it! make sure you have a arborist line with a throwbag & gloves in your fpv bag when doing treestyle!
That would be a smart idea, my current plan for if I get stuck in a tree is to give up and go home lol
How were you able to detect so far? My range is high yet detects late
A lot of it has to due with the conditions of that road. It’s almost perfectly flat and straight, little traffic, and barely anything to obstruct the signal. An average detection for me on a highway would be between 1-2miles. For city driving closer to 0.6-1mile
A half a mile around town is wild
Next time don't speed it up so we can get the full effect of the detection, the ramp up.
