Estonian Osprey Nest-2 2024 The alien pair of osprey that arrived at the nest on July 13th is still here. Today all 4 birds were on the nest at the same time. I named the pair F13/7 and M13/7 after the date they appeared in the nest area. Iiris flew in with the fish and flew away to finish it.

Versus? Did I miss something
Can a chick die due the dominant chick? Will they push it out of the nest or hog all the food?
Did the two eggs hatch ?
No, this season passes without chicks in the nest.
@@tatianasappheira698 sorry to hear that. What a shame.
These birds must have a strong territorial instinct -- this seems true of all birds of prey -- they have to compete against each other for food
that was too bad what the intruder did to one of the two eggs. She stepped on the egg and baried it . That egg is now totally destroyed . That's terrible !
توجد علاقه وديه بين الصغار المراهقين وهذه الام الحاضنه للبيض
/😊….
Looks like she might be trying to learn and being a little broody
As polite a reaction to an intruder as you might expect to see.
Maybe their offspring from the previous year
Didnt realize she already layed 🥚🥚 ~ when? 🦜
🦜 ~ her markings are beautiful, but she needs to find another nest if already belongs to Iris
Most likely, it's a teenager. a young two-year-old osprey. adult ospreys treat them with great patience. probably because teenagers do not show aggression, but only curiosity. we could observe a similar example of patience in Mrs. G.'s nest. There, the visitor had a ring by which her two-year-old age could be accurately determined. The young girl showed interest in eggs and Mrs. G even allowed her to take fish. :)
Interesting
Excellent vid by the legendary Tatiana "Saphir" Sappheira
Just discovered this on YT. Did the eggs survive? where is the location of this nest?
We don’t know about the eggs yet, we’re waiting, but you can watch the stream here: th-cam.com/video/Wn0kdrGEK2c/w-d-xo.html
@@tatianasappheira698 Thanks for the link.
Greetings @mikeyf8195 This particular nest is new to me and popped up. It appears this location is in Estonia.
the sunset light on the feathers 😍
that's amazing!
Does anyone know the link to the live camera so I can add it to my tablets front screen and watch as I can …please ..thank you

@@tatianasappheira698 thank you 😊
thank you, you are a great chronicler!
Wow, thank you!
Dear Sappheira. I would be happy to help you make posts on the forum. but alas, my IP address has been blocked for two years now. probably because I was born and live in the wrong country. Now I can only read. sincerely, zuza. :)
Yes, we live in very turbulent times.
That was brazen
Looks like a cozy nest
They are huge, powerful -- and despite their size, when they get going they are fast
I was in one zoo, where in a pen with giraffes they installed a platform on which you can climb to become as tall as them, and only then, looking down, do you realize how tall they are. It doesn't feel that way from the ground.
What type of bird is it catching? I don't know the name of the bird please advise. It's the bird that collects water in its feathers.
Hard to see, but similar to Spilopelia senegalensis
Warthogs -- you see a lot of them in Namibia
Thanks, I'll correct the title. I wonder why an adult behaves this way towards a very small child?
@@tatianasappheira698 Not sure -- in some species, males are often kept away from offspring by females b/c they are unreliable, i.e. may kill and eat the offspring -- this looked like several females and the larger one was a male? -- maybe the females and young warthogs weren't 'his'? -- could be a lone adult male with no attachment
thanks for the answer. It’s also interesting that there are only two babies, perhaps the rest of this brood suffered? Usually there are more than two piglets...
@@tatianasappheira698 I agree, an average litter is no doubt significantly more than 2 -- can't say what happened of course, but remember: life in the wild is hard, especially in Namibia where there are not only predators (mainly cheetah and leopards), but also not a lot of food -- or water -- I know some species of storks will commit infanticide (usually the smallest or weakest) b/c fewer mouths to feed means the others are more likely to survive
Lots of ice, so this cam must be located somewhere along the northern stretch of the Mississippi River -- looking it up, it's in Wisconsin
Thanks for the info ! :D
Beautiful
Is it man made source of water??please answer.🙏🙏🙏
Yes, this is a man-made source, people regularly come here to clean it of sand.
Very good scenery of Namibia desert.🙏🙏🙏🙏
Fascinating! Thanks Geemef, these help the osprey withdrawal symptoms😊
Their color scheme makes me wonder if they're into black metal.😉
Only one egg (so far) -- hope it's fertile
Nice
Fascinating to watch 👍🏼
I get motion sickness because the background moves
Omg, amazing! 🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩
A beautiful moment you captured here..I missed this as it was too early for me and I didn't even see it on the TS.
thanks for not talking and for letting nature sounds be heard in that beautiful scenery
Looks like a fairly young male -- he's carry some scars or has a skin disease -- life is hard for apex predators, a constant struggle to survive
Let's hope he's not sick and everything will be fine with him. It is obvious that he is shy.
figures the male lays down and does nothing! just like real life! hahaha
Some of the female ospreys of northern USA are large. Nice video. Both lovely birds.
When do the young start learning to fish?
First, the chicks learn to fly and carry fish from the nest in their claws, and then, before migrating in late August - early September, they already catch themselves.
Que bien!!! La otra ave se lo.habria manllado. Se salvo....
I visited Namibia -- the first animals we saw on the way from the airport to Windhoek were baboons
Sure is nice to see the ospreys up close. Thank you for the coverage.
They look ready to fledge
Oh, man, the hawk should've gone for the chicks, he would've had a nice meal! Next time 🙏🏻
Jackal !
