Where is she docked in LDN right now?
In St Katharine Docks marina which is very near to Tower Bridge. At present, she is due to depart on 7th October. You can see her enter SKD marina in the latest video on the channel.
Is was motored in? A bit disappointing
Thank for watching the video. The Port of London Authority regulations say that any vessel of this size has to use its engines when it is this far up the river.
The Spanish Armada is looking a bit depleted lately🤔😏😏😁
Beautiful ship, but why such a very short visit?
Thanks for watching the video. The ship is actually in St Katharine Docks marina (which is very close to Tower Bridge) until 7th October (you can see it entering the marina in the latest video). During this time it is open to members of the public to visit. It is common for visiting vessels to pass under Tower Bridge twice in such a short period of time. The next bridge sailing up the river is London Bridge which does not open so tall vessels such as this one are not able to sail any further up the river (thus why it turns around to sail back downriver again). Whenever Tower Bridge lifts, this will obviously cause congestion on the road which crosses over it. By having a 30 minute gap between the vessel heading upriver and then back downriver, the bridge can be shut and the traffic congestion can be relieved before opening the bridge a second time.
Excellent video! I spent a week in St Kat's while living aboard my little yacht "Pamela Jane" way back in 2000!
Thanks for the information and for your kind comment. Yes - I think it is a great place to spend some time. 👍
But do the Spaniards do sausages?
Living in London, I was lucky enough to be able to go down to St Katherine Dock to see this marvellous ship, and also to go on board on the 27th September 2024. Absolutely fantastic and I would like to thank the crew for their warm welcome on board and their hospitality.
Yes - I agree. 👍

Would love to see it under full sail thank you for the video
Thanks for watching. Yes - I think that would be quite a sight! 👍
For 100’s of years we stopped the Spanish, now we welcome them 😑
Thanks for watching the video. Yes - a crowd of people came out to see Galeon Andalucia pass under Tower Bridge and enter the marina. It was a magnificent sight to see!

@@ThamesShips Thank you for your reply. Hope you do a video as l'm retired abroad.

It is incredibly beautiful to see this ship entering the dock. It is not really an enormous ship, but it does impress. It must be exciting to sail on it on the ocean. Can it sail anywhere in the world you think?
Thanks. Yes - I think it could sail anywhere in the world. It can use its sails at sea so in theory the distance would not be a problem provided the wind was blowing (and it does have its engine as a backup as well).
very small ship, the original 17th century ships were way bigger massive than this midget ship, they made this replica smaller to cut costs
Es un barco de un tamaño normal para 1590 por ejemplo.
@@19piolin82 Galeon is a large Mediterranean galley, originally. If you visit Southwark, a similar reconstruction of Drake's Golden Hinde is in dry dock: it's considerably smaller.
@carlishiggins - that's misinformation. Please don't make stuff up and then inflict it on the rest of us. The Andalucia displaces 500 tonnes. Most 17th century galleons were less than 500 tons, although there were some Manila galleons that reached 2,000 tons. See, for example, the Wikipedia article on galleons.
@@rummy9999 It's a relic of Tudor propaganda, which tried to present them as something the size of a modern cruise liner! Some may have been somewhat larger, on the Mayan gold run, but he simply has to look at the two which have been recovered, the Wasa (1627) and the Mary Rose (1511), to have an idea of the size of a First Rate prior to Pepys and Phineas Pett.

Why oh why did we scupper the Fighting Temarare?!
I believe that there is a famous painting by Turner?
@@ThamesShips yes, there is, it‘s terrific but sad.
@@dianawhite943 I think the issue is that we do not appreciate things that we have at any moment in time. At one time the PS Waverley was one paddle steamer amongst many but now it is popular because it it the only sea going paddle steamer remaining. There have been many historic ships in the past which have been scrapped without people even thinking about it. We now look back on that with regret and wish that the scrapping had not taken place.
Helped me visualise 'The Black Ship' in James Clavell's "Shogun" and how awesome that must have been for the Japanese. 😊
Thanks for watching. 👍
I visited her at ramsgate in the summer holidays! I highly recommend visiting Andalucia if you ever get the chance.

I just watched the footage of GALEON ANDALUSIA entering St Katharine Docks, and I can't believe how tight it was for the galleon to fit through the lock! It’s a miracle it didn’t get damaged I wonder how they overlooked such a narrow entrance in LOndon. Thanks for sharing this amazing video!
Thanks for watching the video. 👍 Yes - it was a tight squeeze but I am sure that they did all the calculations before it arrived! It will be interesting watching it depart again.
For those who think the flag is a bit big. There are historical flags of galeons preserved that are 14,5 by 10. And that is meter😂. One is in Greenwich.
Thanks for the information!

Quick, run, it's carrying ammonium nitrate😭
I thought that was Ruby that is moored off Margate at the moment.

Wow the Armada finally made it.
Well lluc me., itll a beautiful llip.
Thanks for watching! 👍👍
Génial, une super vidéo 👍👍👍
Merci! 😃😃
What a stunning sight, the flag is the size it should be.
Thanks for watching the video. It reminds me of the flag that was on the Mexican Navy training ship that sailed up the Thames last year. It was of a similar size!
Has she ever sailed through before ( not the replica ) ? If so any hostoric dates ?
Thanks for watching the video. 👍Construction on Tower Bridge started on 21st June 1886 so that would have been well after the original galleon would have been sailing.
Sailing with no sails.
Thanks for watching the video. 👍
Espectacular!!
👍
Beautiful. ❤ Thank you.
Thanks for watching. 👍
Are her sails ever used. I assume she has a deisel engine
Thanks for watching. Yes - it uses it sails a lot when it is at sea. There is a Port of London Authority regulation that says it is not able to use it's sails this far up the river so it has to use it's engine.
Saw this moored up just outside Queen Anne's Battery in Plymouth this time last year when out sailing on my bosses J24.
Yes - it is quite a sight. It seems to be very popular wherever it sails to. On the Thames, it also visited Southend and Gravesend.
That's the only time a Spanish galleon has actually been welcome sailing up the Thames! What would Elizabeth I have said?
Thanks for watching the video. It was a wonderful sight and many people watched it sail through Tower Bridge and then into the nearby marina.
@@ThamesShips Really enjoyed it. Like an 18th-century picture map come to life. Pity about the London skyline!
What an amazing sight. Love the extra large Flag what a diplomatic way of saying "look at me". Spain must be so proud having such an elegant lady as an ambassador
Thanks for watching the video. 👍Yes - it was a great sight to see and a number of people turned up to watch it sail through Tower Bridge and then into the nearby marina. The only other occasion I have seen a flag that large was last year when the Mexican navy training ship visited London. Their flag was of a similar size.
When the Galeon Andalusia passed the T. Bridge and sailed next to the HMS Belfast, it seemed like the galleon's decks were even taller than those of the battleship. I had difficulty grasping its full scale in real life._ could you give me a better comparison to understand its real-life size? Thanks for the video!
Thanks for watching the video. Galeon Andalusia is 55m in length.
Starmer has even let the Spanish Armada take Great Britain! Fantastic to see the size of this beautiful gallon in relation to London Bridge. Thank you for the video.
Tower Bridge.
That isn't sailing. That's momentum from being towed.
Thanks for watching the video. It was only towed to allow it to turn around. You can see the ropes being passed over from Galeon Andalucia once it has passed under Tower Bridge. Port of London Authority regulations do not allow boats of that size to just use their sails when they are that far up the river. Hence Galeon Andalucia used it's own engine to sail up to London and under Tower Bridge.
@@ThamesShips You explicitly say "sails" under the tower bridge in the title. It is not sailing.
@@modelwrong Thanks for watching the video. 👍
