USS COD underwater 2016 HD
มุมมอง 6K3 ปีที่แล้ว
This is an underwater footage of the USS Cod while at berth in Cleveland Ohio 2016. Its very basic video, not of best quality and was not meant for entertainment but for my annual underwater audit. If you watch my dry dock video after you will see some of the things I point out in that video versus this one. Also notice the extreme mussel growth on her and how much different it is once dry and ...

USS Cod leaving dock and hitting Coast Guard cutter Morro Bay
มุมมอง 1.2M3 ปีที่แล้ว
USS Cod leaves Cleveland and let's the coast guard know it with a love tap. Subscribe to see video of her in drydock. Also if your an idiot and blame the tug captain for this because he is flying a Trump flag. Just don't bother commenting, I'll just delete it because you are ignorant and I don't like ignorant people. The tug captain is very experienced and was pulling a 312 foot long WWII era s...

This was my first use of my GoPro camera. It was filmed with a white edition in 720p @60 fps. Any suggestions based on the quality would be appreciated.
Awesome video. Thank you for all your efforts/work. Very much appreciated.
This may seem like a stupid question but.....do the aft torpedo shutters on a Gato close?? Every photo/video/model that i have seen, has them open.
There are no shutters on aft torpedoes only on the forward
@@amigodiver Hi, thanks for getting back to me.
There are only two types of ships..
Once in a lifetime cruise ..in this day of age .. enjoy it..on this old gal...
Proving once again that Trump supporters aren't very smart.
The work you all do in preserving these precious artifacts is so important and a significant part of history. Thank You to all involved ❤
To make good anode contact there should be no paint layer...rgds from a professional underwater welder ex navy diver, btw the sub looks awesome.
Would love to have seen the new laser removing all the old materials.
Just visited the Cod today, Jan 4 2024. Good crowds ship was in good condition. Needs new wood on deck. Wondering if the COD shouldn’t consider new PVC hybrid lumber in dark charcoal color.
You should dive under one of the Iowas
This is a really great view
I’ve always loved the Gato Class Fleet Subs. Classic WWII design.
Tugboat driver 💯
Been going to her since I was a kid haha why didn’t the coast guard move knowing they were taking the submarine out that day lol
I tour the Cod at least once a year. Good job it looks great
Beautiful
Ramming speed! XO: Skipper, She on our side. Skipper: OK, We'll just kiss and make up.
Watch, wait for it.🤫 This sub looks Cool! 😎
$200,000 just for the paint?
Are old subs not allowed to operate under their own power?
No UT we have no screws a d it's easier to get a tug do the work.
It's a pleasure to see museum ships being maintained nun-like those who have run them into the ground to the condition of being scrapped, my hats off to you all.
Wow great work - never seen a ww2 sub like this. How much of the sub still works?
3 of the 5 engines run, we have no batteries and submerging is disabled. No screws either. She is a museum so pretty much everything that makes it run has been disabled. All electrical and radios are operational with exception of the battery operated system. Thanks for your comments!!!
Would have been neat if someone was standing on one of the “look-out” steps on either side of the conning tower of the tower looking through a pair of binoculars
You don't think we didn't do that?
Thank you for your video!
Keep it on land, out of the water before it disappears
We have no land available. We are afloat in fresh water, she has many decades left. We keep her maintained. Thanks!!+
1:42 😂
11:07 Could make small mementos for people (online and visiting) to buy. That should put some money back in the coffers. For those that have history with the boat, family or distant affiliation or even passion, that's a worth having purchase.
Great job!
Epic to see that Ensign flapping with the boat underway again ... an amazing moment. Shoulda managed a layover in Sandusky for a little showboatin' & Liberty for the crew 🤙🏽
Sandusky is in the opposite direction. 😅
I have to paint my house next summer. I will use Sherwin Williams.
When did they cut a hatchway on the forward deck to gain access into the sub? you use to have to go down the actual escape hatch on a vertical ladder
We did not cut anything. You still have to go down the vertical ladder. The stairwell is how you get to ti below the superstructure.
Great video, thanks for sharing. I recently visited the USS COD and she is indeed a beautiful lady
Majestic...
Thank you!!!
They can't do an annual cleaning?
Too costly and not necessary.
You would have thought they would have repainted the whole sub and not just the bottom
We can paint the top anytime, the bottom was only available during dry dock.
Geeat walk around
Over 70 years latter and she is still doing damage!
Great video and beautifully done! 😍
What a great job they've done.
Amazing growth in 2 years.
Just caught these, great job! And KUDOS to Sherwin Williams paint company. Proud my daughter ues them for her painting company!
They need to pull out of water place in a fresh water museum with other Naval vessels. This is insane.
What an idiot tug captain...
Dam Zebra mussels
Cool.
Hard to believe it's already been two years
Wow....all that build up in such a short time 😢
They need to get it out of the water and build a foundation or cradle on land if they expect it to last. Where we are they have the USS Drum on Land.
The drum was is salt water, we are in fresh water. She will survive a long time with periodic dry docks.
@@amigodiver It was just a thought, these Ships and Subs are too precious to lose.
This is after the submarine was in drydock?
Yes, 2 years after in fresh water
@@amigodiver They seriously need to consider raising money to put it on land.
There is no land to put her on. She will last many more years the way we take care of her. @@docbrown6550
