Yes I will leave grease in mine
That’s the chicken breathing 😅

thankyou !!!!
Bro u fucked up this ... This spicer tans do not take oil it will leak and theres no space between the spider gear conpartement and the other gear so the oil will be dry in the area in maybe 1 or 2 run .. maybe if the container was made of One big pan instead of 3 diffrerent. area whit a good seal maybe it would work for a season but be sure to open and fill this spicer gear each year whit new oil and watch every leak posible ..
well this sucks balls I am convert mine from grease to gear lube why didnt you finish the video ?
How did you clean out the old grease?
Man I've been working on my mower for about 3 weeks I think you have just solved my problem I don't know yet I'll let you know LOL
I have the exact opposite problem, the choke won't open, I suspect that the choke thermostat is bad, I'll just open it manually now, for the amount of times you use a pressure washer it doesn't pay to spend money on it, once it's warmed up it functions as it should.
Nope. That isn't the issue with my pressure washer. Every spring I have this issue. It isn't the butterfly valve and the carb is clean. The bowl is clean and the jet is clean. Taken it to several small engine shops and they "clean the bowl" and call it good, though it doesn't crank when I get it home.
I kept grease but add grease zerk especially by rear axle. That was dry, started make noise. To assembly spider gear I mark female across then male across on axle. To match up.
Same. How the heck do you keep oil from seeping out without axle seals?
Where the rest, after part 3
😱 😱 😱 omg i got it bro thanks so much to make this video I have same fk problem but now I fix
how did you remove the grease out of the transmission?
So you cleaned and reassemble. Where is the part where the oil is installed? How about the oil leaking out of the axles? What about the upper 2 bearings for the input shaft getting lubrication? I searched for "part IV" and did not find it.
He probably realized it wouldn’t work and didn’t upload the video
@jiffry58 yep. Probably has the same puddle in my garage that I do.
These Spicer transaxles are on a lot of lawn tractors, but I can't find parts anywhere. I'm looking for shifter keys for a Spicer 4360-86. I think shifter keys from other 4360 will work. Anyone know of a vendor who may be selling these?
EBAY, Very, Very expensive
Is a great explanation thx!!! Bro!!
While he showed the gears going on the first shaft he didn't show the ring clip being put on before the first gear. And you'll need to put them on with the flat side facing out and that's a must. The grooved side of each gear goes out not in like he showed it being done. So he had a problem after it was reassembled. Other than than it was a fairly good assembly. Oh and another thing is if you go to an oil filled case it will leak. Your best bet is to stay with a grease filled case and just add you some grease fittings on the case. If I can add a picture I will to show a good placement and size of drill bit and fitting.
So the grooved or slotted side of the gears face the chain sprocket? I hope.
Starting fluid ,
I have the same engine on a Craftsman M 350 mower. It came with an electrode style spark plug. The plug fouled up early, and caused rough running, and hard starting. I replaced it with a conventional plug, and the mower now runs like a champ.
Hi I have a very sinilar NEW model, 1 pull cold start, 20 ish pulls hot start. Do you think the choke is the issue? I don't think it should need any choke when hot. Can I adust by bending the wire choke thing?
Mine like yours but 10 pulls cold, no start hot
Do you have a video about that mechanism up front that heats up and doesn't control the choke correctly? I have a mower with that problem, I think... It starts, but when it run and I cut it off and try to restart, it won't and I noticed the choke is open. I'm guessing the little mechanism should be closing it, but isn't? The linkage/wire is perfect and I cleaned the carb/jets.
I am having a super hard time with the keyed half moon piece found in the brake disk. I can't get it to go in. It looks just slightly to large to fit. Does anyone know how to put that back in?
Burr on keyway,file the edges
I also cut my finger where the shift key slides
Me too, both hands, shafts were greasy.Had to use cotton throwaway gloves.
It was a pain in the ass to get the axles and spider and ring gears go in
Stand the gears up,one on top& one on bottom.
how do you like this transmission? Is it still being made anymore? Seems like every lawn tractor is hydrostatic now, even the rear engine riders.
You didn't explain which way the concave spacer washer face
Hi! somebody know how to fill (grease) without disassemble? it´s possible? Thanks....
Not possible, I wanted to do that too but there is no fill plug/hole, or drain plug/hole, sorry
@@jaceb7136 ...you can always create a fill hole/plug with a tap and die set, and a drill 🤔 you just have to disassembled the unit, to figure out where's the best location 👍
Get a peerless, They have removable rubber plugs. or fill through detent ball hole.
Another thing is that the engine somehow won't take eighty seven or higher octane fuel
Just as FYI for some folks... if you have a can of spray carb cleaner, you might have all you need. This looked like a little much for me, being in a hurry... I opened the filter cover, removed the filter and sprayed some carb cleaner in past the throttle plate or whatever it is, let it set a couple minutes, then it started up on the third pull. I had pulled it about 100 times before, after sitting all winter with its winterized gas in it. The carb cleaner was a very easy and welcome fix!
I know this is an old thread but wondering if you know what the initial setting of the screw (is it idle screw) should be. Friend touched it while trying to diagnose and it did nothing so trying to see if that might be problem. Screw just above carb bowl. Thanks for the video.
My craftsman won't start. I give it a shot of either it starts and runs on it's own. Any ideas?
Looked at all the parts of this and did not see anything about cleaning, or oil used to refill. did I miss a section?
What did u do at 3:59?
False. ....the engine will start [edited, didnt start, did something else, got it to start, then clipped it to the 1st half of the video]. Cmon dude.
How many hp is the motor
I have re-built plenty of these and you DON'T want to convert them to oil filled...Use grease like it was intended or the gears will wear twice as fast.
how does the greese hold up when spinning them 2, 3 4, 5 times faster than the gearbox was designed for?
Where does the red wire for the on/off switch lead???
Dude. You went , way further, than needed...
That's exactly what it was.
Those copper/brass bearings at the end of each shaft part, where would I buy those or even find part numbers for my dana spicer?

How often I actually need to service this gearbox? I have one that was standing for ten years and I know that the original grease from 1992 is in their...and i don’t know if I need to service it...
This fixed it! Thanks for posting this
What did this trans go in racing mower mudding mower mower to mow the yard and what weight oil did u put in
This transmission don't take oil. Its packed with grease.
Mark Warren People use transmission oil instead of grease when spinning them faster than stock.
@@leonjohansson8469 I used 90 weight gear oil and it's leaking out. I'm thinking about taking it apart, cleaning everything and re-greasing it. there are no seals to prevent the oil from leaking out. Now i see why they grease everything :)
@@firestick8075 did you use silicone to seal your trans ?
People who use this mod are usually those who race seasonally and only need their transmission to last that season. Those people race stock mowers with rules on mods. They can only use mower transmissions and fill them half way with gear oil to make last longer and add a grease fitting on the input shaft in between the two needle bearings to accommodate for the extra speed that comes from a higher ratio pulley/belt drive. They still don’t last long even with these mods.. long enough for a season of racing at least.
I just bought one of these but it has no model number can you comment yours please
I have since sold the power washer, and I do not recall the model number. Sorry about that.
Are you assembling those gears with the smooth side facing in or out? Mine is apart and I can't remember which way the gears came out. Thanks!
If you look at the video at time 1:55, the smooth face of the gears are facing in. Hope this helps.
Smooth side of the gears should go out!
@@BOBBYG31976 So the slotted side of gears face the chain sprocket. Thanks
Very helpful, clear ex. of how throttle and choke linkages and springs fit on carb and how they work. Searched a long time before I found this!
Thanks for watching and glad it helped you out.
What type of oil did you put in it?
That transmission don't take oil...It is packed with grease.
@@markwarren7116 Spicer recommends SAE50 ATF!
Having a problem with mine where does the red wire from the on off switch go
I have a problem with the starter button it want start the washer do I need to older another one?
Just eliminate the on off switch, can ground the wire manually to turn it off or choke it.
