Making a Statue with a Mold and Concrete
What skull did you use to make the mold?
I didn’t make the mold, I bought it on Ebay.com!
other than cleaning, do you have to do anything to a surface before you start applying the latex? I'm getting into statuary and want to make my own molds and such. thanks ahead of time
I didn’t really clean it at all, I just brushed off the dust with a dry paint brush. The latex will not stick to plaster. It may cling to some painted surfaces.
@@x-webman what about concrete?
Should be fine as long as it’s dry.
Qué tipo de pintura usas
Acrylic
Beautiful job! Would you please provide the link to get the frog mold? Thank you. Best of luck.
Thank you! I do not have a link, I bought it a few years ago on Ebay.com
@x-webman Thank you sir for your response. Best wishes.
You should put charcoal tint into your concrete mix that would give you a starter for your basecoat as well as get a Roto hammer and use it as a concrete vibrator. You can dip it down into the structure itself and pull a lot of those bubbles out on a smaller scale, but just like the big boys do. It did turn out nice although I am trying to figure what my first 3-D structure will be. Mostly concrete steppingstones you know the turtles paw prints blah blah blah but again nice work
Thanks for the tips!
Beautiful!!! Where do you buy molds like this??
I buy mine on Ebay, but there are many different places you can order molds from. Just do a quick search for “concrete lion mold” or similar.
Hey… uh, wtf is up with the creepy AF outro?? Kind of makes me think law enforcement should be looking into you?
As it turns out, the creepy outro was made by my local law enforcement. I wanted a bunny rabbit hopping through a field of daisies, then law enforcement steps in & this is what I get. Ain’t life a b1t@h!
Why not use water in the bucket to secure the mold?
Since concrete is heavier than water, it probably wouldn’t work.
Great job, nice music too 😊
Thank you very much!
@@x-webman thank you too ❤️
Very cool. I love the way you did this, and it carries all the info I needed to move a project forward. Thanks!
Glad it was helpful!
I cannot even begin to imagine what a mould of this calibre would cost in Canada. I would love to include locally made statues in my farmers market stall, but the costs are as big an investment as the livestock are for a small business start up.
I know what you mean. I paid about $220 for this one about 5 years ago.
@@x-webman I truly wasn’t attempting to be rude or insult anyone. Canadian prices, exchange and taxes probably triple your costs. Canadian farmers are literally lining up at food banks these days to feed their families under the Trudeau/Singh Liberal NDP Communist Party of Canada. I’m in my 60’s and my partner in his 70’s; and they’re right, it’s hard to teach an old dog new tricks! I’ve recently gained agreed consent to get an incubator after proving that there are enough new homesteaders to make a profit on specialized poults like Islandic and Easter Eggers. I am correlating a plan to bank the money to make this work, it’s just hard on a struggling budget. Sorry if I offended you ❣️
I subscribed to your channel . I am just learning more and more about the craft. I think you would like to try this idea of making a bench. Its on my bucket list for sure. I am sure you could make your own rubber stamps from what I seen in your other videos. He also sells them online.... But here it is a concrete bench..... th-cam.com/video/llEFbPtV4R4/w-d-xo.html
Nice!
I never heard of mold mix before. Thanks for making this. I m getting ideas now.
You are so welcome!
One way i painted my skulls is that i filled a bucket with water. Then spray the surface with different color spray paints.just random order until i think there us enough. Then slowly dip and roll the skull into the water until fully submetged give ut a shake to clear excess surface paint and pull it vup. You get these really cool swirlss. Im thinking the next one will have glow in the dark spray paint. Its at walmart
That sounds very cool and creative!
I got a fairy door mold i like to use when i have extra mud so it dont go to waste. I like this one because im thinking once it sets i could use liquid nails and pallet wood for support.
I have molds ready for any extra too!
😮i love that mold. Where did you find it?
I’ve been getting all of my molds on Ebay.
I use cooking spray or wd40 to make it release easier.
That's a good idea!
Я грунтую, крепкое изделие получается
Thank you . This is the best tutorial ever
Thank you so much!
What a great tutorial - straight & to the point & every piece came out amazing.. question, is there a reason why you wet the concrete item first? Is that just so the paint is much easily absorbed ?
Thank you so much! The paint bonds better if the statue is wet. If you paint dry concrete it will sometimes flake off like the statue repels it.
@@x-webmanoohh ok excellent - thank you. I’ll have to try it..I’ve done the bronze / antique effect previously pretty much same process as you, but yeah I did find the paint sometimes come up off the piece so it’s a great tip to wet the item first 😊
Can you please put a link to that buddha mold?
I bought it a few years ago on Ebay.com, so no link.
Your Buddha is an Amithaba. 😊

Muy buenos días,…me gustan mucho sus manualidades…quería saber si puedo adquirir el molde de la tortuga…que debo hacer???…thanks
Thank you! I found all of my molds on Ebay.com
Do you have to stick the top part of the bench to the legs? And the legs to the ground? Seems like its just a slab of concrete and two others and not safe. Why wouldnt it just topple over to one side?
The shape of the legs & the weight of the top PLUS the weight of the person sitting make it very hard to fall over. I’ve sat on it and tried to make it go over and couldn’t.
hi po bumibilipo ba kayo ng mga old statue

I was thinking it might look nice with a tawny paint.

too bad that he never took the time to show the actual mold making, specially with intricate figurines..
