I got this lens for night street photography, shooting in local bars at night, and urban landscape, which it excels at. I can't imagine lugging that weight on a hike to be locked into 50mm. What landscape circumstances are you ever going to need the 1.2 for when there are plenty of smaller lighter options that will be as sharp stopped down?

dont you get purple hues/flares in the center when you use a prime 50mm for landscapes? I have a retro nikkor 50mm which as ive come to understand is designed for portraits!

Curious how it handles the multiple varieties of auto focus settings with fast moving flying birds on a Sony full frame body like the a7r4.

Is the Godox V1 flash compatible with the Sony A7iv because it's not listed on the product site only the A7RIV is listed

I had the 150-600 Sport, Sold it to get the 60-600. Not happy with the 60-600. Sold it and got the 150-600 sport again. Personally I loved the 150-600 over the 60-600

Well, the kit lens has OSS but is sharp just in center. Sigma is much sharper and brighter (f2.8) but lacks OSS... The advantage of a kit lens is that compact and doesn't weight much... I also have 18-105 f4. The quality is much better but the lens is big and heavy... Kind regards!

Worth a mention that there is two unfortunate limitations with this (and other non-Sony) lens on Sony cameras: first, you cannot use it with teleconverters and the maximum framerate is limited to 15 fps, although obviously this restriction only affects when using A9 and A1 series' cameras that can shoot even faster.

Just took a cpl of shots with it today. Its still too dark outside when I come home from work. So I tried it indoors in bad lighting. But even then its so much better than the 200-600 :O It handles iso noise much better imo. Cant wait till the weekend when the sun is coming here in Denmark. AND ITS SO FREAKING LIGHT !!!!!! :D

I had the Sony 200-600mm 5.6-6.3 G Lens, but it is too big and too heavy for long hikes and it is not easy to use, so I sold it in 2023, also there are problems with the stabilizer system, in March 2024 I bought the excellent Sigma 500mm 5.6 DG DN Sports Lens, it is very compact and light weight, easy to use and operate, I can hike in the nature for hours, carrying the Lens in my hands without problems, the image quality of the Sigma 500mm 5.6 DG DN Sports are better than the Sony 200-600mm, so I can highly recommend the Sigma 500mm DG DN Sports Lens !

It's too small, dawg. And looks like one of these fifth party adaptall lenses from the 80s. Nice review though. How's the AF-C on subjects moving quickly towards you? Quack.

A very sigma camera

I bought this 1/3/25 from bhphoto for $267 after taxes and shipping. I can’t wait to try it out, it’s my first flash.

I’ve never dropped my camera until I bought this. Of that base plate is not tight it will come off. Also it doesn’t stay standing straight when legs are extended.

Great video, quick and simple. Tip: Most people who would benefit from this video don’t have an aperture dial on their lenses.

Just put up my 2 ½ year old 200-600 lens for sale, and ordered this Sigma 500. Im picking up the Sigma tomorrow and Im super excited ! I havent heard anything negative about it. My concern might be that I will miss the zoom... but then again, I usualy shoot at 500-600 anyways. I dont know how much difference f/5.6 is to f/6.3 but I expect the quality to be better. Also, Im using the Sony a7RV, so I guess I can easily crop the last 100mm, if needed. Thanks for the video 💪

I've been looking at all the new 500mm f5.6 version lenses. I just got the new Fujifilm GFX 500mm 5.6 GF. Talk about cropping power! Sharp it will cut ya. The only negative is that the foot isn't long enough to balance with a GFX100 on a gimbal .. You have to add a 7" arcaswiss adapter

Beautiful photos! I really enjoyed watching the series of them. Also it’s cool that you pointed out that shooting out of your window provided minimal disturbance to the wildlife.
