How to rig a Balloon in Harmony! Part one of a multi part series on rigging props for animation. There is a lacking supply of prop based videos on TH-cam despite it being the most common starting job when it comes to Rigging! When I heard I'd be doing props for my first job I got very stressed since I couldn't find any info on if props are rigged differently than characters. So hopefully this s...

This is cool... and seems very difficult
This video was posted 7 months AGO , Dude , Happy New Year ! WIll you back ?
Hey man, wonderful walkthrough! I have a question about creating the "Off" drawing. Why not just use the built-in "no exposure" substitution? Is there a good reason to make an empty drawing so we don't need to use that? Thanks again!
This video was posted half a year ago..... Where are you bro?
Nice video. Please suppose I had this deformer on deformer setup and a forearm, how to I get it to move the hand layer if I'm trying to create Foreshortening of the limb
Hey Mr Teacher! I missed the part where you created the tool kit palette! Do I have to make anything special to those colors so that when we use the tab color to hide the wrinkles, they actually disappear?
Time flies , bro . The last video was released half a year ago... Is that the END ?
Thank you so much for the rig I am trying to use it right now but I cannot find the drop down for Scott MC display I think I imported it wrong would you have any tips or anything along those lines? Once again thank you again for the rig
You might have figured it out by now, but I had this issue and to fix it I had to go into preferences > advanced > turn on advanced display. Then you should be able to access the drop down :)
would this work in adobe animate?
Unfortunately not, this rig is for Toon Boom
Waiting for u ..... bro
I opened it, but there is nothing inside, just the nodeview.
tại sao tôi đã mua tệp của bạn nhưng không hiện lên hình ảnh gì
Thanks for making great rigging tutorial videos
Have you done any videos or can you do one showing how to use bones and deformers for puppet cut outs without node view?
I have harmony 17, can I do this in that version
I love u bro!
This seems helpful but I kinda wish you added captions
Hello, will you have a date of when the master controller bonus video would be released?
its so annoying to figure out where. the nodes connect at which place in composite.. coz you never show them .. i wanna punch through myy monitor. you know shit we don't . so plz think about the ultra pro max noobs.. present and zoom in the nodes view so I can acutally see something else rather than ants..
Hey! Sorry you're frustrated! There's not really a specific order to plugging stuff into the composite. Anything to the left will appear in front of anything to its right. But most of the time, you end up moving those pegs in Z Depth, so the order isn't super important. If there's anything specific you need help with feel free to reach out and ask :)
@@jordan_beatty_art plz provide the reference image. I couldn't find it anywhere..
nice, what a great series! You are the man.
woohoo Thank you sooo much again for these helpful videos.
Dude , awesoooome works, but . Will you share the reference pictures , please ? I want to follow you tuts step by step , but without the pic , I don't know where to start...
Hi! Thanks for watching. This character is going to be released as part of a project, so her refs aren't available, sadly. (But also, I won't stop you from screen grabbing the design in 4k to practice *cough cough*) But I'm working on a character that can be rigged along with. So keep an eye out for that!
Thank you! Your tutorials are very good.
Niccce literally woke up today and ready for this step! TYSM
Thank You so much for the content you make !!
This is so underrated
please please keep the videos coming! you are an expert at harmony
I'm rigging my character along with these! It's going so well! Thank you! On to the libraries!
Jordan, how were the Hand_Line_Cut and the Hand_Line_Solid colors set in the Color palette to function like that for drawing new hands that the line is being cut?
Hi! The hand drawing goes down into two [Colour-Selector]s. One with each colour. The Hand_Line_Cut gets cut by the Lower_Arms [Auto-Patch], and the Hand_Line doesn't. TBH, it's a more complex way to do it. It's easier to just have an [Overlay-Art], [Line-Art], and [Colour-Art] attached instead. Where the [Line-Art] is being cut by the Arms [Auto-Patch]. So if you want a line to appear over the wrist, you can just draw it on the hands [Overlay]. Hope this makes sense!
@@jordan_beatty_art Oh my god! Brilliant! Thanks.
Amazing tutorial. Thanks a lot!
Yo Dude , when can you provide the reference pictures for download? Thanks... Can't wait to Learn with you !
Amazing tutorial! Are you going to post the drawing substitutions soon? Because I really need that, as I need to finish rigging my characters for my short film! Thanks a lot :)
that was actually insanely good! congratz <3 keep up the amazing work!
Pls Episode 9
course?
awesome....
Hello, good day Jordan Beatty. I am an animation student, and I just wanted to say thank you very much for your videos. Finding good tutorials on the internet is difficult if you don't pay for them. You helped me a lot with my rigging course, so I am very grateful to you. Greetings from Chile =)
welcome back !
you cannot imagine how hard ive been looking for a good in depth video like this! thank you SO MUCH
thanks, I've learned some interesting drawing techniques)
I was really curious to see how you were going to make the shoe, love your videos!
Hi Jordan. Great tutorial as usual. One question. I see you're using something called a "Line Weld" and figured it was a custom group of nodes for a specific purpose. Can you elaborate what it is and it's function?
Hi Francis! I discuss it in Part One when I'm setting up the groups. But here's a bit more of a detailed explanation I give in another video: th-cam.com/users/clipUgkx8l6uQe3Wbr21raRV5DcWn6bgmcMmRzsc?si=0yy51bQaAURpMC6y It basically cuts the Line by an Autopatch. So it welds both objects together. And the Line stays outside of the objects. :)
This is so much helpfull thank you alot Through my question is not about rigging it’s about posing how can I pose a cutout character in harmony when the camera is either up or down using the X theory or anything that you have used and worked for you but particularly in cutout it’s been troubling on my end
So if you're working with a normal 8 - 10 Point rig like the one I'm making in the video. You'd have to do it the hard way and sketch out the angle you want the character to be in. Then try and pose the character to fit the sketch. Atleast that's how I'd do it. But if you have the time and necessity (say the character is going to be in this view a lot) you'd build it as a special pose and or rig. There's really no simple way to go about it with rigs I'm afraid! Some shows like Bluey use this more angular designed downward rig where it's just the head of the character for top down shots for example. If you were to do a very dynamic shot with a once off pose I'd go for the Gumball technique where they keep the head of the rig(for correct proportions) but completely hand animate the rest of the body.
@@jordan_beatty_art thank you so much building a rig with specifics of the pose i see ith the only way to go
Excuse me, what shortcut did you use to send the center to the top at 7:04? I do not know how to do that.
B on your keyboard to go up your pegs. Shift + B to go back down 😊
@@jordan_beatty_art Thank you.
Yoo, fantastic guide! Keep it up! I support coffee!
Oh nice, I've been excited for this one!
Please ReUpload the Vid , by the way , don't foreget the reference pic , LMAO...

Resolution should be higher now! It just took awhile for TH-cam to upload it properly :)
wow, keep it up bro
thanks for sharing the tips , keep it up .
