No worries...we collectors & thrifters understand and relate. 🤣 Just laughing as I love how you express yourself and I like your style...that is unique to You!
I agree. In Ireland we have different companies, with fake vintage or fake art home decor items that end up overflowing charity shops. Sad.
Nothing makes me crankier than having to push past all that junk while thrifting.
My top five thrifting finds are 1. ceramic tile art "Fishy, fishy" by Rebeka Kahn - 5EUR. 2. Sylvia Nannig large ceramic fruit bowl -10EUR, 3. Large Sean McCluskey stoneware table lamp - 35EUR, 4. Large framed Clare Caulfield print "Rio Della Fava" - 20EUR, 5. Original oil impressionistic painting of Irish cottage on the beach front by unknown artist 20EUR. Hint: ceramic, pottery lover here. Hint-hint: watching you from Ireland.
I had to school myself in the names of the artists you listed. WOW! You have mastered the art of spotting amazing finds at thrift stores. Bravo.
Just stumbled on your channel. Fellow thrifter here. I am very much entertained 🤣 I think us hunters are hooked to thrifting because of unexpected thing you can find, that you never knew you needed in your life.
Does your heart race with anticipation as you enter an estate sale or thrift store? I think of it as cardio for collectors.
@@Eclecting Hahaa...oh yes. 😂
Great video, Eclecting. Looking forward to your next upload! I smashed that thumbs up button on your creation. Keep up the wonderful work. Your unique finds, especially the girdle tubes, are fascinating! Have you considered exploring the history behind these items and how they reflect societal changes in fashion over the decades?
Thanks for the excellent suggestion!
You'd have two caddies if you were quite fancy - one for black tea, one for green. The tin crown piece I'm pretty sure is referencing Marie Antoinette - the monogram is MA and her crown is similar to that one.
@@penelopesparrow I am officially fancy if the piece is a nod to Marie Antoinette! So, it looks like I need to put green and black tea in the caddies, thanks.
A coffee table book like Kramer on Seinfeld. 😂
Ha, you are right! I forgot about Kramer's coffee table book.
Your channel is such fun! Thank you!
@@fernandamurari8577 Thank you!!!
Interesting girdle box, enjoyed! ❤
I get you!
Okay you had me gggling throughout your video! Love your epiphanies and DEFINITELY relate to collections just sort of "happening". i love your style!
@@AntiqueAgenda Thank you, it is a relief to know there is another person who has collected without being fully conscious of what they are doing. I love how you put it “collections just sort of happening.”
The snowmen comment was so funny.
Love it all! Take us along sometime. Do you shop at Thrift or Antique stores?
Thanks, great idea! I’ve shot footage from my thrift store shopping trips and a mega antique mall, but after watching it, I was worried viewers might need some Dramamine to get through it.
Wonderful ideas and such fun!
I miss shopping with you.
I miss shopping with you too! We need to plan a thrifting adventure. Sadly, Treasure Mart in Ann Arbor has closed its doors, but Middle Earth is still going strong,
That giant book box will make such a great table.
@@benomenology Maybe in your big house one day.
I am a “non-collector” also ❤😂🎉. Thank you for the giggle before I head out to look for more items to add. You definitely have an eye and could make a little picture book of your vignettes of Junque.
@@dsalazar5358 Thanks for your lovely comment! Good luck today. I just returned from a crowded Goodwill. People were doing hockey moves to get to the carts of merchandise as they were being wheeled out on the floor.
I always get a good chuckle out of your videos. I love your content!! And your non-collection collections are amazing 😂
Awe, thank you! I think I have to face the music and accept that I have a freakish assortment of random collections.
This was an amazingly inspiring video. Love every detail!!
Woah, that is so cool!!!

This was fantastic!❤ Loved it. Will definitely watch again. 💕😆😆😆
Thank you! I hope to have a new video out tomorrow.
Great piece!
Thank you for looking so presentable. Your voice and word usage is on a higher level of presenting the same information every other thrift seller is sharing, but yours was easy to watch and very enjoyable. Thanks.

It looks like a large fish knife
@@ros8986 that is so civilized! Today, we use any old knife to cut our fish.
@@Eclecting actually in the 19th century with the financial rise of the middle class, merchants of household goods came up with new ways to sell the fantasy of upward mobility to the middle class, including specific single use flatware (fish knives/forks, pickle forks, asparagus tongs, etc)
I am one of the people who has wonderful items that I do not use often. My children now adults destroy, break, miss use beautiful items. They have no respect when using any items that I treasure. Relatives are the same way. Breaking items seemingly on purpose
I’m so sorry to read you’re going through that. It must be heartbreaking to see your treasured items being mistreated.
Linda, I love these videos! How are you determining the value of what you find - an internet search?
Thank you so much! Yes, I start with an internet search and look at similar items on eBay and Etsy to see what they’re listed for and what they recently sold for. Sometimes I consult trusted experts when needed. I have reached out to Bonhams Auction House to evaluate the figurine that I am hoping is a Pre-Columbia artifact.
Linda, I love these videos? How are you determining the value of what you find - an internet search?
Beautiful. As a geneology fan, if you can track down the families whose relatives are in those photos, someone will be extremely grateful, I'm sure. Sometimes the kids or grandkids don't appreciate them, but another relative would cherish them (I know I would). I remember going through my M-I-L's stuff when she moved to a nursing home, and her son (my B-I-L) was putting 75 years of play and musical programs (some signed by Broadway stars!) in the trash. I pulled them out and left them in a box at the nearest JCC arts complex after hours. I have no idea if anyone received them and appreciated them, but the thought of them (and who knows what else?) in the trash, horrified me.
I'm so glad you saved those treasures from ending up in the trash! I recently spoke with Jill, and she mentioned that she’s managed to track down some surviving family members of the football coach. It always makes me wonder how such deeply personal items-family photos, children's artwork, journals-end up in estate sales or thrift stores. I imagine, for some, it's a way of detaching from the emotional weight those items carry. A dear friend once entrusted me with a collection of letters her mother-in-law had kept, some dating back over a century. She asked me to incorporate them into my collages, and it’s been such an honor to give them new life.
When I was 14, my mom was pregnant with her 9th baby. I thought I would surprise her by cleaning out the whole house of "clutter". I clearly had no appreciation for other people's keepsakes or nostalgia. I thought she would love how clean and uncluttered her house was! I "cleaned" out and threw out all kinds of things I thought were junk while she was in the hospital, including a collection of vintage porcelain lady head vases our neighbor gave her when she died. I apologized to my mom 1000 times as an adult, but I still feel badly about it. I even apologized to her again about it on her death bed! I just read your list of regrets at the end, and you had very cute hair in the 80s. I was there. :-)
Thank you so much for sharing such a personal story, Nancy. Your heart was in the right place, trying to help your mom during such an overwhelming time. We’ve all had moments where we didn’t fully understand the sentimental value of things, especially when we’re young. I can feel how much you’ve carried this with you, and your mom, knowing your good intentions, surely forgave you long ago. What truly matters is the love behind your actions. And thank you for the comment about my 80s hair! Those were some memorable times.
When I got married, I had a cake knife specifically for the wedding cake, in a box like that. I have no idea what happened to it, but I think that's what that is.
Nancy, you are correct! I completely forgot about the wedding cake knife, and of course, people would keep that safe in its original box.
I am guilty of owning some little fake succulents from Ikea. Thank you for mentioning the weird wooden chains! You know what else is weird? Those weird wooden bead chains. Why???
To me, the chains symbolize the horrors of human bondage. I am unsure what they represent, but I can't imagine wanting them on my coffee table!
I LOVE LOVE LOVE seeing your beautiful face and hearing your lovely voice again. I have missed you all these years! I remember when you worked for Merle Norman -- you were my college roommate then! You've always been gorgeous with or without makeup! I have so many wonderful memories of you from school! Oh, how I would love to thrift store shop with you! My fascination is vintage jewelry. I am obsessed! Please, please come visit me sometime in Denver!
Nancy! I can’t even tell you how much your message warmed my heart! I have so many wonderful memories of our college days too. Vintage jewelry? That’s AMAZING! I would love to go thrift shopping together and hunt for some fabulous pieces. I know all the good spots in Chicago, so perhaps you should head to the Midwest. Thank you for your kind words, and let’s catch up soon
Please let me know what you think my finds are worth. Also, I would love to hear about your scores. What's the most valuable item you have found while vintage or thrift store shopping?
Putting dry flowers in the tea caddies would look nice😊
That is a brilliant suggestion, thanks!
Hi! I took a Google Lens shot of the unknown "thingy". I found that it is, in the Catholic Church, a symbol for "The Holy Name Of Mary". I found that on Pinterest under Marian Symbols. There are many, but yours is closest to the aforementioned. Beautiful piece! Blessed symbols!
@@crystalsdance oh my goodness, thank you! You are giving Sherlock a run for his sleuthing money.
Kudos for liking Blow Up - love it too
I had never heard about the stolen artifacts, that is appalling! I already refuse to go to Hobby Lobby because of them imposing their religious beliefs on their employees but that is another level of inhumanity!
It is pretty shocking, right?
The decoupage cigar band bowl was really unique! You and I have the same affliction....estate sale junkie! 🤣🤣
