I just love your videos….I haven’t started any projects…yet…. I have NO supplies…but would love to try it soon❤
Another great idea !
Thanks! It's a fun and easy project.
I’m so excited. I picked out some old clothes to cut up for a scrappy circle and swirls quilt and got my base ready. Now I just need to start stitching!
I love the idea of using old clothes for your quilt-such a great way to give them new life!
@ all of the artwork I do uses reclaimed and repurposed materials. Right now I’m deconstructing some old silk ties to try and use bits in the quilt. These things have to be from the 90s!
I love this idea, I think I might do one of these as a wall hanging. I've been working on a strips and strings quilt, doing six inch squares which I find easier to work. I had to spend some time today reorganising my scraps as they've gotten a little bit out of control 😂 With the embroidery floss have you tried pulling out one strand at a time? I find it helps with the tangles 🙂
Thank you for sharing your thoughts! I appreciate your tips on the embroidery floss. It’s always great to learn new tricks to make the stitching process smoother!
I'm taking a break from sewing and will be working on my art journal for this week. Still dealing with my Mom in the rehab center and I need a way to relieve stress. So many phone calls and dealing with the staff trying to get her the best care possible. Please keep us in your prayers.
Sending lots of love and strength your way! I hope you find peace and comfort in your art journal this week.
I love the 'Sets of Three" system you have - very ingenious!
Thanks, I hope it helps!
I watched all 7 parts, and thoroughly enjoyed you, your quilt, and your process. You have such a kind spirit, so positive! I don't think I would have been so kind to the quilt police who criticized your work. What you are doing is a traditional type of quilting, but those quilts were used up and long since passed. I would like to do this with you, but I promised myself to finish up a few hand stitching UFOs this winter. Maybe in the spring, or maybe your circles from scarves in the spring and this project next winter. Thank you so much for your wonderful project and sharing your shining self!
I truly appreciate your lovely comment! It warms my heart to know that my quilting journey resonates with you. Good luck with your UFOs-can’t wait to quilt together in the spring!
That is definitely Wild and Free art journaling. I'm working with a theme in mine. I can't wait to get started and show you some of the first pages I've made already.
I can’t wait to see what you come up with!
Although I’m fairly good at drawing and painting, I also love a collage for fun! It’s so so so relaxing to glue beautiful images, photos or even paper scraps. And many times I do it on the pages I draw my odd and imaginary faces 😊 I love your page: it’s colourful and it has lots of interesting things to look at ❤️💛💙🧡🤎💜💚🩵🩶🩷♥️
I'm so glad you enjoy collaging! It really adds a unique touch to your art, and it's wonderful to hear how relaxing it is for you. Keep creating those odd and imaginary faces!
I love how you did that intersection with the square! And it’s so nice to hear you say you’re loving what you’re doing. So many times we hear people complaining their work is not good enough (and we can see that’s beautiful), that I find so refreshing to hear you loving your work, like I love mine 🩷💙♥️🤎💛🩵💚🧡💜❤️
Thank you so much!! I've often wondered why people who never seem to think there work is good enough keep doing the same thing over and over? LOL I think we're able to love our work because we're not striving for perfection but are just on a journey to express ourselves through whatever medium we're working with at the time. That freedom gives us joy!
Looking so pretty and what a fun and relaxing project to be working on for 2025.
It's a really nice way to start the year!
I think that hanging that landscape quilt on your wall is a great idea! That way you could always see that beauty and other people could see it too. I put mine on my bed. Although it’s a lap quilt, as it was made with my mother’s fabrics, it has sentimental value and I wanted to make sure that I won’t ruin it accidentally by using it as a lap quilt 💙🧡🤎❤️💜🩷🩵💚💛🩶♥️
That's a great idea! Just because it's a quilt doesn't mean it has to be used as an everyday item. Special projects should have special places to go.
Love the diner scene. Brown eyes are my favorite! I saw your story before you told us. I might need to start this type of journal. You continue to impressive me with your talent.
Thanks! Art journaling is such a great way to be playful and creative.
Your pouch looks gorgeous! I love that green fabric 💚 And I loved the tip about the cardboard. I like to think I’m quite inventive because I don’t have many resources, but I never thought of that and that’s a brilliant idea 😊💙♥️💛🩷💚💜❤️🧡🩵🩶🤎
Thank you so much! I'm glad you liked the green fabric and found the cardboard tip helpful. Creativity really shines when resources are limited!
Waste "canvas" will work well too (to keep stitches straight) and you can work from the front of the cloth because you just pull out the threads of the canvas. You are really cranking out these lovely pouches!
That's a fantastic tip! Using waste canvas can make a big difference in keeping those stitches neat. Glad you're enjoying the pouches!
The pouches are so fun! Love your color combination with this one. I can hear you just fine.
I'm really enjoying this pouch challenge! And thanks for the sound check.
You are such a sweet soul and inspiration.Thank you❤.
Wow, thank you
very beautiful and so creative
Thanks so much! I love scrappy projects!
This is a beautiful bag! That’s a lot of work, but I love to hand sew.
Hand sewing is such a relaxing way to create.
Love your work. Volume is too low. Cannot hear you.
Thanks! I'll check my audio settings.
I've taken to saving my color catcher sheets (from washing quilts/quilt fabric) as they make great fodder for mixed media work.
That's a great idea, thanks for sharing!
Love this idea. How fun. I’ve been wanting to do something with my journals I’ve had for years that I’ve done NOTHING with. Look forward to this. 🙋🏻♀️
I bet those journals are just waiting to be filled with art!
I love the idea of having an art journal or a different craft from stitching. I don’t do wild things on my art journals nor do I use them everyday. I tried the “wild” style, but I soon discovered that, although I really loved to see it in other artists, it’s not for me, I love to draw and paint odd and imaginary faces. I also do some crochet in between my stitching projects, because having stitching only has a craft may cause fatigue and lack of motivation. I look forward to seeing what you do 💙🤎💛❤️🧡🩵🩷🩶💚🖤💜♥️
It's wonderful to hear about your unique approach to art journaling! Everyone has their own style, and drawing and painting odd and imaginary faces sounds so creative. Keep exploring what makes you happy!
I love the idea of art journaling with doo dads. It speaks to my desire to not waste. And to bring my supplies out of the closet into a book where I can enjoy viewing it.
I'm so glad you resonate with the idea! Art journaling is such a fun way to use all those little treasures and turn them into something beautiful.
Such a great idea. I was able to recreate it for myself. Mine is mostly blue with pink and purple accents. I love my cat! Thank you. :)
I bet that’s a beautiful cat! Thanks for sharing!
Such great colours! All of them are my favourite! The turquoise evokes the ocean, so I’d call this flower a sea flower 😊💙🩵💚🧡💙🩵💚🧡💙🩵💚🧡
I'm so glad you love the colors! The turquoise really does add a beautiful ocean vibe to the quilt. 🌊🩵
That looks so easy and a lot of fun.
It's a great way to get a quilt done, too!
I’m still gathering supplies for this project, but, look forward to getting started ! Thank you for this idea for a beautiful craft !!!
It's going to be such a beautiful project! Enjoy the process.
Looking forward to this but I still have lingering Christmas furry guests who turned the season into a vacation. I may be able to finish my project after this weekend. Fingers crossed 🤞.
Sounds like your holiday guests are really making themselves at home! Maybe they’ll help you with your projects!
@ 😊The human guests are vacationing. I have a house full of furry, four legged friends that I do not want anywhere near my project. They also have way more energy than I do. Thank goodness for fenced yards and young, eager neighbours.
How beautiful love the cat.
Thank you! 😊
Having to rejoin You as life and family matters must be addressed….I know You understand……just an update I have only a short piece plus a bit longer piece …..but I am SMILING as I can see real progress (if I take my time…as You said yesterday…You are the professional here with hour and hours under your belt….do You know the law of 10,000 hours…..? …..it’s a real wake up call for newbies….hahaha)
It's so good to have you back, and keep going at your own pace! We can always learn from each other. I don't think I've heard of the law of 10,000 hours. Please enlighten me.
@ When time permits please Google 10,000 hour rule……it is a concept about quality/skills …..like any concept it has its qualifiers….the author Malcolm Gladwell wrote a very interesting book called “Outliers”…..I listened/audiobook …..interesting read/listen ….I would be interested if You found the concept interesting
Hi, Lynda! I’ve been watching ALL your videos and I’m speechless! I’ll be very honest, I didn’t comment on any previous one, because there are other artists’ work I’d like to watch, so I’m only commenting on the last that you all posted. You are making absolutely AMAZING work. I don’t even know where to begin! I love the circles/flowers quilt, because l love circles and flowers; I love the pouches, because I’m addicted to them 😂, I have dozens (slow stitched and crochet ones); I love the landscape one, it’s looking like a painting, but this scrappy quilt is a true art piece. As I think I told you, I’ve finished mine, which is not as colourful, because those were the fabrics I had that belonged to my mother and that I wanted to use, but I’m very happy with it. I’m sure your husband will be delighted once he starts using that beauty! Congratulations on all your projects, I think I lost count. Your channel is getting better and better, with a wonderful variety, long videos to make us company and great tips and suggestions. At the moment, I’m making a wall hanging, a meditation scroll and I wanted to start a crochet blanket, because I miss crocheting a lot. I hope you’re doing well and Happy New Year 💙🩷💜♥️🤎💛💚🧡🩵🩶❤️
Welcome back, Alexandra! I missed you. I really appreciate your thoughtful comment! It warms my heart to know you’re enjoying the content. Your support means so much, and I'm excited to hear about all the amazing things you’re making too! I know someone out there is as busy as I am. LOL! Isn't it wonderful how happy we can make our lives when we add a touch of creativity each day. You stay well and safe and, of course, scrap happy.
I'm binding a log cabin. So close to this hand quilted gift for my sister.
How many do you have planned for 2025?
Beautiful quilt! I enjoy listening to you - calm and interesting - and seeing your color combinations and creations. Very nice!
Thanks so much for your kind words! I'm having a lot of fun with this project!
I enjoyed your video and presentation very much. And I loved your fabric artwork!
Thank you! I’m so glad you enjoyed it.
❤
Lovely job! Well done 👍 👌
Thank you so much 😀
Good morning from NZ. I’m a new stubby and binge watching. I just love you, your style and am really inspired. Thank you xx
I'm so happy you found my channel. And thank you for your kind words. Happy stitching!
Started a landscape piece, finally! Just taking my time and seeing what develops. Alternating that with making a scrappy keyboard to eventually use as a border for a 'someday' quilt. I'd recommend JO MO who does slow stitching. Like you, she is very pleasant to listen to and explains what she is doing. She concentrates on mostly small pieces which is nice for someone who just wants to do a little something, but not a big project. And she demonstrates how to make little pictures, such as a bird or a tea cup, along with embroidery stitches.
I’m so glad you’re finding inspiration in different artists. It's always wonderful to learn from others. And thank you so much for spending time with me also. Happy stitching.
Very inspirational. Love your ideas for bags. I'll definitely keep checking back.
I love Marion’s world. She is in England. She has so much creative talent and is a very good teacher. Also K3N in England . She is very talented too. Love apples 🍎 and oranges 🍊 and. Pears 🍐. I love working along with you. Hugs. ❤
Thanks so much for staying with me, Joen. And I love those stitching channels too. Very talented ladies!
Great job on your quilt strips.
Thanks, it's coming along!
Hi icky chic I am rhonda fron orange texas.i am working on a 112 piece scrappy hexagon quilt-as-you-go quilt while I am watching your viedo i am also knitting a scrappy afghan. my favorite fruit is oranges and grapes. The other people who I watch on TH-cam k3n in England endales in canada, and of course you in texas.i have learned so much watching you 3 people. Happy stitching .
Wow, you’re a busy stitcher! Thanks for watching, Rhonda, and for answering my questions. Those people you mentioned are some of my favorites also. Wonderfully talented artisans.
Love joining You when can Sunday morning before church…..I found a little packet of maybe appliqué pins in my stash and I have found them to be much easier to work with…..
That is a great idea for the strips! I will keep that in mind.
You are very good company! ❤😍😍 Very good tutorial. Thank you!
I am so glad you enjoy the company and the tutorial! Thank you for watching.
I made a small rectangle of strips like you did but it didn't work out so good I guess I should keep trying
It’s always a journey and sometimes the scrap piles win but, keep on trying!
@IckyChicDesigns ok I will thankyou i am more used to making crazy quilt pillows with embroidery and beads and other embellishments and maybe a year ago I started doing some slow stiching
I got totally distracted into sorting out my scrap piles! Got some ready for the starting .....😅 nice work there 👍
Sorting through those scrap piles can be so rewarding! I’m glad you’re getting ready to start the challenge. Happy stitching! Thank you for watching.
Pretty pouch!
Thank you.
I like the addition to adding the slow stitching to a finished tote or bag. As someone who has a sensitivity to smells, burlap really bothers me. So keep that in mind when gifting it to someone. Ask them first if they have allergies to smells. I bought a whole bunch years ago and didn't realize that I would have an issue. It's still in my garage in a plastic bag.
Thank you for sharing your experience! It's always important to consider allergies and sensitivities when gifting handmade items. I appreciate the reminder!
Looking good Lynda
