This is why I won't use gravity-fed feeders -- their design ensures that sugar solution will be available to (and attract) bees and wasps. (Note: those little ball-cage "bee guards" don't work in practice). A bee, and many wasps, once they succeed in reaching the sugar solution, tell all their friends exactly where the mother-lode is. I use only saucer type feeders, or a well-designed hybrid, bottle-fed saucer design. If the holes are a reasonable (ie. small enough) size, most bees and wasps simply can't reach the nectar (because of the gap between the feeding port and the surface of the nectar) and give up and go to look for something more rewarding.
