Berlin public transportation is easy to use, and with the help of the transport app, BVG Fahrinfo, you can easily travel around the city to all the different sights. I'll show you how to use the transport app for your trip to Berlin.
Here's the info for how to get from the airport into the city: berlintraveltips.com/how-to-get-from-berlin-airport-to-city-center/ And I have a full TH-cam video for that too.

    • @AliGarland
      @AliGarland หลายเดือนก่อน

      Correct, your ABC ticket is valid for all forms of public transport in Berlin: Sbahn, regional trains while within zones ABC, Ubahn, trams, buses. So from the airport, even if you have to switch a few times to other forms of transport, your ticket is valid.

    Also please, is it possible to buy an extension ticket from ticket machines, am thinking if I have AB ticket and need to travel to airport last day

    • @BerlinTravelTips
      @BerlinTravelTips 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes, definitely possible to buy an extension ticket. In the app, I have to click on "single tickets" and then there's an option for extension tickets. I think the ticket machine is similar. The machines will switch to English, but sometimes there's still a German word here and there, so you might see it as "Anschlussfahrausweise" rather than extension or connecting ticket.

    • @BerlinTravelTips
      @BerlinTravelTips 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Are you referring to the Welcome Card? It depends on what you're going to do while in Berlin. If you want to do several things that charge an entrance fee, the Welcome Card could be really good because of the discounts it offers. Check out the info here: berlintraveltips.com/recommends/museum-island-welcome-card/ Otherwise, if you're doing mostly free things, it might be cheaper to just buy transport tickets.

    I think Google Maps is a far efficient tool for this

    • @BerlinTravelTips
      @BerlinTravelTips 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Google Maps isn't always right though. I've seen it say to take a bus from one side of the airport to the other and then go back inside the building to go downstairs to the train platform. I've also seen way too many tram stops that list trams that do not go to those stops. You also can't buy tickets on Google Maps.

    There are no escalators down to the platforms at the airport, only up, so be prepared to use a lift/elevator if you have luggage. This also seems to be the same at some U-bahn and S-bahn stations. There are 3 travel zones for cost purposes and the airport is in the outer C zone; be aware of this when travelling back to the airport. Also the public transport system is barrier-free so you don't have to worry about negotiating turnstiles or barrier gates whilst pulling your luggage. Just make sure you have a valid ticket to show the inspectors if they ask..... and of course the fares have risen since this video was made :-(

    • @BerlinTravelTips
      @BerlinTravelTips 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yeah I really don’t understand why they don’t have down escalators to the train platforms. One of many problems with the airport. And yes, the BVG ticket prices go up every year. But the process is the same. I’ll update the notes when I get to my laptop.

    hi ali we are visiting berlin in march and just wanted to ask you something. excuse me if this sounds silly lol. i want to buy a 48hr ticket from the app you included in the video, can i still validate it if it is on my phone?

    • @BerlinTravelTips
      @BerlinTravelTips 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi, not silly at all! When you buy tickets in the app, they are valid immediately. For certain types of tickets, like the 24 hour ticket (there is no 48 hour ticket, so you'll need two 24 hour ones) you can change the time/date by clicking on where it says "valid from" and changing it.

    • @davidboard2410

      @@BerlinTravelTips ok that's great thanks. So once it's on my phone how do I validate each journey. Sorry if I sound thick

    • @BerlinTravelTips
      @BerlinTravelTips 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@davidboard2410 As soon as you purchase the ticket, it will be validated. If you purchase it for a different time, it will automatically be validated at that time. You don't have to do anything else besides buy the ticket on the app. If ticket checkers come onto the train/tram/bus, go to the tickets section of the app, scroll to the bottom where you'll see "ticket history" and click on that. Your current ticket will be in the "tickets" column, and any expired tickets are in the "history" column.

    Nice and helpful. When I visited Berlin last October I took the FEX into the city, then changed to the U-Bahn to get to my destination. No problems. Heading back to the airport, I walked to a station to get the S9 instead of the U-Bahn so I wouldn't have to transfer. That morning, however, the S-Bahn trains weren't running for some reason! I panicked a little but walked on to a bigger station where, fortunately, I was able to get on a Regional train to BER (and got there faster than if I'd managed to get on the S9 as planned).
