I have a feeling that I'll inevitably end up being that inadvertently creepy guy one day, and that I'll always be weird whatever I try, which will of course all be the wrong things. On the bright side I doubt I'll mind.

9 out of 10 people would never tell such a guy straight to face how to stop being creepy. most people would probably not talk back to him, ignore him or talk to other people about him, but never tell him why they consider him to be creepy. people like him don't get it themselves what's creepy about them and if other people don't tell them, they'll never change. saying "stop being creepy" isn't much of a help. saying "stop being creepy" is like telling a drowning guy to better start swimming
