Beautiful Winter Scenery: A Snow-Covered Shrine in Kyoto, Shimogamo Shrine #cinematic #japan
Shimogamo Shrine, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of Kyoto's oldest Shinto shrines, is closely associated with Kawai Shrine, its auxiliary shrine. The sacred Tadasu-no-mori forest lies between the two. While snowfall in Kyoto typically occurs for several days during December, January, and February, Shimogamo Shrine is conveniently located near Kyoto's city center, easily accessible by bus or train from Demachiyanagi Station on the Keihan Line.

Its central pond, walking trails, and tranquil atmosphere make it a popular spot for locals seeking relaxation and natural beauty. I filmed this on December 17 2024 after a sharp drop in temperature. Beautifully done ! The first time i visited Kyoto when I was 19 year old, if i remember correctly. Those were the day you carry a backpack and travelled. I was too young to appreciate all the beautiful scenary then, but now, watching your video, it gives me an urge to go back again for another visit. ( i am 61 years old now ). Thanks for sharing, and GOD bless Japan and its people.

Are the momiji already so red in Bishamondo? I was nearby about a week ago and eveything was barely red...
I took this video a while ago, so the leaves are still green. I recently saw a picture from Bishamondo on social media, and the leaves have just started turning red. I think the peak will be in late November.

Yes, those are sakura (cherry blossoms). I took a video from the same location in the spring 🌸

This is probably the most beautiful thing I have ever seen in my life!!! 🥰🥰🥰 The float were absolutely amazing, in their construction and in their use! Are there ever any accidents, especially with the very tall ones? The way they turned the big heavy ones was incredible! If I had the chance, I would love to see it for real. I don’t think there have been serious accidents before, especially compared to the Danjiri festival in Osaka, which is dynamic and energetic. I hope you will see the Gion festival in person one day! But be prepared-it’s very hot in Kyoto during the festival 🥵
