Folk Heritage
เข้าร่วมเมื่อ 4 ก.ค. 2020
Our mission is to help our viewers to share and understand the beauty and dignity of the Southern Appalachian music and dance traditions that have been handed down through generations in western North Carolina. Since 1928, the Mountain Dance and Folk Festival has served a crucial role in raising awareness and understanding of the vitality and importance of Southern Appalachian culture. Founder and noted folklorist Bascom Lunsford’s mission was to present the finest of the Appalachian ballad singers, string bands and square dance teams for education and entertainment. The songs and dances shared at this event echo centuries of Scottish, English, Irish, Cherokee and African heritage found in the valleys and coves between the Great Smokies and the Blue Ridge Mountains.

What about black mountain do u all think about those mountain people in n c
Very rare fretless bass guitar, which I had only seen in Flamenco groups, and not that I be an expert of no kind on this, but also rare in Flamenco. Also unplugged amplified, barely, for the mike is for the voice. Used more to caribbean afro rythmics, it does not cease to amaze me, since I became aware of it, how these bluegrass and country guys and gals, come up with that kind of rythmic nastiness with no percussion. It could be said that regular percussion could spoil it. But this "Sours"are particularly good.

My heart goes out to the wonderful community of Asheville. May you all recover from Helene and that the festival continue. 💝🙏
Shit sucks.

HILLBILLY GOSPEL SOUNDS. OLD-TIME, MOUNTAIN STYLE. • So wha' brings ya roun' dese parts, friend? • Ya saved?......by da Blood of 'Joshua the Nazarene'? • I'm jus' a wayfaring stranger from this world here below! • We is workin' on a buildin'! • Jesus is the 'CORNERSTONE', ya kno'? • It's as easy as pie! • Ask Him to rescue ya! • We all is drowning, ya kno'? • The water is getting deeper by the day!

Nice!....................................
Yeah man!
I love Korey Warren!!!
Nice to see American folk culture being celebrated. - even better with children showing an interest. Great stuff.
From 2:12 - all shapes and sizes, Black and White together. Maybe you Yanks (and Southerners) can teach us here in the UK a thing or two.
Clogger in black shirt is so graceful.
Oh my goodness there's my dear Emma! I'm so proud of you!!! Beautiful as always!
I like that the people that are waiting can not stop dancing...
Great job men.
Laura has such a sweet touch on the banjo. I also play clawhammer and could not remember where I picked up that B part to Shady Grove that she plays at the end of that song - now I know where I got it. Thank you so much for this video and thank you Laura for your gift of music.
Lots of SMILES, Lots of DANCING and Lots of GREAT MUSIC!!
Nice!....................................................
Дякую. Дуже цікаво і приємно. Коли ми вигонимо росіян з нашої землі і закінчиться війна, то ми також будемо проводити такі музичні фестивалі для дорослих і дітей. Якщо нас всіх не повбиває Росія.
Guess they were short of boys, lol😂😂😂😂😂
Like every thing heretotal click bait and we have to listen to long speeches, waste ot time😂😂😂😂
Love the music. Patrick McCormick sent me. I'm new to serious busking but have been playing forever. His mom is my wife.🤠😎

Simply a wonderful group of people and a very enjoyable show. Excellent.
WONDERFUL, ABSOLUTELY WONDERFUL! MADE MY OLD WORN OUT HEART SING AND SOAR!!
👍👍👍
Ohhhhh my gosh,,I love this......
That was a whole lotta fun!
WHAT CORD DO ALL STRINGED INSTRUMENTS HAVE IN COMMON?? "A" IS THE ANSWER!! THATS WHY U TUNE UP IN "A". GIVE ME AN A!!
That's so racist that Pepsi Cola & BlackRock would let us have this event with Africans in the event in NC. And no evidence the banjo is from Africa the instrument they talked about takes two people to carry it, that's not a banjo. Look at how good the Hot Foot Cloggers choreographed dance was 9 years ago. We are in decline.
Remarkable young dancers. Bravo.
i am glad i dont live in the south because this is serious in bread hick clap trap
EU gets a history lesson in their house ! LOL th-cam.com/video/y6rk1mYiOAw/w-d-xo.html&ab_channel=ComplicitClergy

Very nice, but the two dancing girls should've been dressed in Cow-girls clothes, Country Style clothes I mean. Still, a great show. Thanks for sharing.
