WyoFile is an independent, member-supported, public-interest news service reporting on the people, places and policy of Wyoming. The organization incorporated in 2009 as a Wyoming 501(c)3 nonprofit, and is a member of the Institute for NonProfit News.
WyoFile’s mission is to inform and engage Wyoming through in-depth reporting in the public interest.
WyoFile aims to reestablish the primacy of facts in Wyoming’s public discourse - to ensure that residents, community leaders, business leaders, politicians, agency personnel and policy makers all have access to, and faith in, the information they need to participate effectively in civic life and self governance.
We believe that healthy democracies, resilient communities and effective governments all depend on a robust, independent, watchdog press - the first three simply can’t exist without the latter. Rigorous, factual journalism that holds individuals and institutions to account is a critical public service.

How Wyoming's separate powers interplay
Things kicked off at the state Capitol in Cheyenne on Tuesday, and already state lawmakers' priorities are starting to take shape. But lawmakers aren't the only ones with ideas about how they want Wyoming to run - officials in the executive and judicial branches have priorities, too.
This week, we'll hear what the governor, secretary of state, state superintendent and the head of the judicial branch want for Wyoming, and how their priorities align - and don't - with lawmakers'.

What is the difference (negative) of feeding the heard of elk for the coming years...if we have fed them for the last 100?? Did that not go well, if so....why did we continue??? Really think your options are going to shrink along with budget withe up coming administration.
I'm not an expert on this specific situation, but feeding likely means the elk are concentrating around feeding locations, and the concentration of elk would increase the spread of diseases within the herd, on top of concentrating urine and feces near the feeding site, both of which can spread CWD prions. Having the elk browsing for natural forage would spread them out which helps prevent disease transfer. It also reduces the chance of artificially extending the life of any sick animal via easy feed, which gives them more time to infect other animals. Feeding also increases population sizes and densities beyond what would occur given natural food sources. As a general rule feeding wild animals doesn't do them any favours.
@gogmorgoaway this is probably the most "expert" answer I could have ever hoped for...thank you. Some I would have been able to come up with, but the issue with the urine and spreading of viruses etc., wouldn't have thought of those things. Thanks again!
@ I'm just a casual nature enthusiast, definitely not an expert, but CWD is a big concern in deer populations locally. This is the first I've heard of CWD affecting elk populations. But it was first noted in farmed deer populations, which would suggest repeating the same conditions in other populations would have similar consequences. There isn't a huge number of deer or elk farms out there but a lot of them have been closing down out of concern.
I find this all to be quite fantastic yet you sound dubious. Remember the word ILLEGALS
Great ideas, love holding illegal actions accountable.
Those are good ideas
It's gotta end somehow.
Deport them all.
AWESOME Wyoming !
They are called illegal aliens, and they will all be deported
Remind me again why humans hunted wolves bears and other predators to almost extinction. Oh yeah, they either eat our food or sometimes us. Do you think they have taught these animals to NOT do that? No no they haven’t, so what do you think is going to happen again???
Coal Mine Monuments. reclamation of coal mines.
We don’t need this extra spending of our tax dollars. Have private wealthy donations instead.
I don't want and America in today's economy does not Want nor Need such. History is important to me but this is nothing but a boondoggle .
Devils tower?
i think you need a makeover, hope you are not a teacher
They have that accent in Wyoming!? 🧳🧳
The State should regulate that. States rights, are real.
Thanks for your time.
Question: Does L.A. gets its water from Lake Meade
Let's see. The residential tax rate is 9.5%. That parcel produces $3000 a year in taxes. making it valued to the state or local county at roughly $300,000. WTF makes it worth $100,000,000??????????????????????????????????????
A bear or a man in the woods?
Gordon's going to do what's best for ranchers first. All the rest of us our opinion doesn't matter. Why do we as the non ranching public pay to fence their cattle off the highways in the interstates. Also we pay to replace it every 5 years.
Does anyone know if they have seen bear 399 last cub? And is she Ok?
beautiful stories and memories of people lucky enough to see Mama 399 through the years. I have visited GTNP twice and didn't, but her presence lingered in the air, and it will be forever more. Her legacy is certainly cemented.
She was shooing cubs away to keep them safe from male bears
😪😡🤬😡🤬😪😪😪😪😪😪😪
399 was a good mom and good bear
Animal's have feelings also 😢
Wonderful stories❤thanks for sharing. What a special mama 🐻
sadly all animals in the wild are going to be murded
She was not murdered. It was an accident. Sad, yes. All animals in the wild are not going to be murdered.
💔💔💔💔💔💔💔
Do not kill animals, do not harm animals, it is strictly forbidden to kill dogs and sell dog meat, do not kill dogs, do not eat dog meat, protect animals, love animals, all things have spirits! Do not give up any opportunity to save lives!! Good deeds will be rewarded!! Evil deeds will be punished!! Do good deeds and accumulate virtues, and blessings will come!!
Do not kill the black bears in Taiwan, and Do not kill the 500 brown bears in Romania; these animals are innocent life! May God bless these bears and everyone!
Please drive with caution. If more care had been taken, the life of brown bear Grizzly 399 could have been saved. Avoid causing harm to animals or people accidentally.
You can drive with caution all you want but sometimes accidents can't be avoided. Been there done that a couple of times and yes it broke my heart.
Thank you. Nice job on the video.
It’s just beautiful how much this bear touched so many in so many different ways . She will be so missed. But what a beautiful blessing she was priceless.
Beautiful... So much love for a Magnificent Mami Bear!
Ty for this wonderful video. I will miss this beautiful bear 399….may she rest in peace forever😢💔
Oh he's black their in real trouble now
That's murder pure and simple
The main thing the deputies did wrong here was failing to take him to the hospital the second they saw him swallow something. He didn't die from being put in the chair, he died because they didn't take him to have his stomach pumped.
He also had deputies kneeling on his back and neck while he was face down for 5 minutes. I don't believe it was the chair either. The video also doesn't show that he was complaining of feeling like he couldn't breathe for hours before this. But it is in the DCI report.
@@joanierodgers9153 Deputies kneeling on his back for five minutes wouldn't have caused him to die several hours later. His death was obviously caused by whatever he swallowed.
He spit it out it was never ingested
@@joanierodgers9153 kneeling on his back for 5 minutes wouldn't have caused him to die hours later.
@CamDee13 it doesn't mention that in the video.
If he can yell, then he is breathing. The young man brought this on himself with his substance abuse. Very sad for his family. Sad for the people who were working and doing their jobs. Not their fault.
These officers were negligent. This actually went on for HOURS. His death could have been prevented with one phone call.
@@joanierodgers9153 His death was completely avoidable - he was in jail because of choices HE made. Real men accept responsibility for their own choices and actions. Undoubtedly not the first time he brought sadness to his family.
He was in jail, yes... but that doesn't mean he deserved to die. And you're right, it wasn't the first time he brought heartache. All of that is irrelevant, though. He was in police custody (custody insinuates that party is responsible for your well-being). Period. There is no, what if he hadn't... no. They murdered him by sheer negligence.
The female cop always was saying get the narcon get the narcon should I get the narcom. And no The restraints aren't too tight. They said. If they suspect someone took something you give them narcan and call 911. Oh that's right, they are 911 and they didn't call
They protected and served the shite out of this poor guy.
Sad
