Washing the GL 1500 for winter storage
Washing the bike thoroughly for winter storage and maintenance. Still sunny days, but the temperature is below zero at nights. It's not safe anymore to ride to work because of the black ice in the mornings, and it's also too cold, at least for me.

Honda V65 Magna broken rear shocks
มุมมอง 43หลายเดือนก่อน
The rear shocks gave up. There was no fluid leak or other visible damage in them. They just quite suddenly did this, and I got a hard tail Magna again (previously I had one shock stuck in the uppermost position). The shocks are 41 years old, I quess the warranty is over.
Honda V65 Magna prefueling

I have found this a good way to start the engine after longer standing. I put a switch to the fuel pump relay to engage the fuel pump, and I keep it on till the carburetors are full. The engine starts easily after this.

My GL 1500 fell down
มุมมอง 1.5K2 หลายเดือนก่อน
My Goldwing fell this morning, for the first time. I tried to get it up like they advice, my back towards the bike. I couldn't lift it up, it was too heavy for me. Luckily I could attach cargo straps between the other side's crash bar and a support on the ground. By doing this I was able to get the bike up a little, so that at this point I had enough strenght to lift the bike up. Then there was...
Honda GL 1500 too low
มุมมอง 2.9K2 หลายเดือนก่อน
I put 12,4 inch left rear shock to my GL 1500. Just tried how it looks and handles with the rear end so low. I didn't like it much, so I went back to the original.

Honda V65 Magna rebound adjustment
มุมมอง 699ปีที่แล้ว
Honda V65 Magna 1983 rear shock rebound damping adjustment on the road. I didn't notice much difference, whether it was at any setting (1-4). Actually I didn't notice any difference at all. But then again, they are 40 year old shocks.

Nice to hear, that others like this bike too! I really hope that you find a good Magna in a decent price. Maybe you want to look for one with the oil-mod. I think it's important, although if the bike's camshafts have survived this long without the oil-mod, then they propably will last also in the future too... As you may know, the camshafts were the vulnerable parts of this bike, due to poor oil-circulation to the upper parts of the engine.
My dream bike, but none are for sale near me, and the only one that is, is 200km away and $4000 :(
Looking very nice 👍
Thanks! This bike is my joy and pride.
Why though?
@@eeee3279 For some reason the fuel in my bike's carburetors vaporize quite fast. I mean in the bowls under the carburetors. So say after a week of not riding the bike, the carburetors seem to be quite dry. If I didn't do the prefueling, I would have to crank the engine quite long before it starts to run. I may be wrong, but I think the oil circulation isn't that good while cranking the engine, and there would be excessive wearing. Especially in the camshafts, if you don't have the oil-mod. So to say it short: it's for saving the engine.
@@PasiHaverinen-vb2bc Indeed. Oiling is sad on the top yes. Thats why i'll start my project from there. I scored V65 Sabre cams (higher lift and longer duration) for my ex-finnish Magna that came few weeks ago. And surprise-surprise, cams will be done in Finland too :D
@@eeee3279 Sounds good! 👍
Pick it up.
@@KennethGann-s8q 😂 It was easier said than done, but at the end it was on the road again. My friend told me, that he had practised getting his Goldwing up. I should do the same. It's the technique, he said, not the power.

Thanks! I like the blue color in the Goldwing. I assume it's two-tone blue. Also the yearmodel 2000 is very nice: it's the last one with the 1500-engine, and it's of course special year otherwise. I wish my bike was also 2000, instead of 1999...
Very nice looking Wing you have there. I have a 2000 year GL1500 finished in blue. Just had new tyres fitted and looking forward to putting on few miles on the bike before Winter arrives.
Good looking bike
@@brandonpreatto6893 Thanks, I try to keep it in good condition, and like to install shiny chrome parts to it 😃

Красивая!
Did you got it recently?
@@eeee3279 I have had this bike since 2005, and actually my previous bike before this was also V65 Magna. It was chopper-style with long frontforks. It also had oil-mod and Laser-exhaustsystem instead of collectorbox.
@@PasiHaverinen-vb2bc I recieved quite alive 83 V65 today, from Finland. Cheers from Viro.
Congratulations, it's a great, powerful bike! You may want to get to know about the oil mod -kit for the V65 Magna. It's good for the camshafts, and quite easy to install.
@@PasiHaverinen-vb2bc Thanks. Its 83, sadly German spec, so 100 from crank. I was looking those before i got it :D Sadly legendary Dave Dodge is gone so i suppose his high quality work is unobtanium. Ebay ones with rubber hoses (we are talking bars in oil pressure) seem finnicky at first glance. I did check rear cams, exhaust one is worn but not pitted yet... Time will tell what front ones are doing. I suppose not much better either. Probably reweld and grind :/
@@eeee3279 That's still plenty of horsepower, I would say that there's actually no need for more. I never use my bike's whole power.
Okay, thanks for the advice, I will try that!
Find a speed hump in some neighborhood area and stay seated on the bike. Don't stand up on peges. Hit it at 15 mph to bottom out. Using the Pre-load setting the lowest. Pre-load is the bottom adjustment with the tool. Then retry setting the pre-load to the highest number and see if you bottom out any more. Find the lowest pre-load that you don't bottom out at your 15 mph speed. Then try the rebound adjustments to see how much after bounce you get. Rule is set pre-load first for your weight. Then the rebound last.
Very cool speedometer. What brand is it or where can I order mine?
Hi, thanks! It is Evo Series 85 mm GPS speedometer. I bought it here in Finland, but I think you can get it for example from eBay.
The seller here in Finland was JM Tuonti Oy. I think they sell European-wide.
Thanks for the quick response. Cheers mate and take care 👍🙏🍀
