I am guessing the majority of my postings will be motor related... boats, motorbikes, cars... or music related. Other weird stuff might also appear. Who knows? I like messing around with all sorts of things.
Happy Mid Winter Solstice!
Today, at 10.19 local time, the sun "turned". Cause for celebration, as the days get longer from here, and summer is once again on its way.
Happy whichever holiday of your choice. As a heathen, I go with mid winter solstice!

Meet Cadbury, the 1999 Yamaha Vmax

It's been in storage since 2006, in a barn since 2012, and now it is time to start fixing it up as it ought to be. Provided it starts and runs, of course...
Making a custom, deep 55mm socket
มุมมอง 278ปีที่แล้ว
A boat owner needed a deep 55 mm socket for putting nuts on through-hull fittings for his deck drainage. So I made one.

A portable computer I stumbled over, and just had to save from recycling. It boots fine, thought the drive sounds a bit iffy. The battery charges and holds at least some charge. Amazing for a 35 year old machine.
1987 Suzuki DT9 9 service and repair
มุมมอง 5K3 ปีที่แล้ว
A 1987 Suzuki DT 9.9 in need of some care and attention. In this video, I replace the pull start cord, thermostat, spark plugs and take down the gear housing. It becomes clear that this poor thing has not been well maintained...

Just taking the dog for a walk, checking if my cameras still work... White balance was WAY off on some clips. My bad.

NO VW Syncro footage, only the trip itself! Just a plain Jane recording, from Kongsvoll to Dombås in Norway in a VW T3/T25 Syncro in gorgeous easter weather. No commentaries and no music. No editing either, because editing is boring. :)
1988 vmax after std. carb tuning, not yet synced
มุมมอง 4.3K9 ปีที่แล้ว
At initial startup the engine was running rich, rough and did not idle real well. Turns out the needle clips were different on 3 of the carbs. Having reset this to the middle setting on all carbs and set the idle mixture to somewhere around the standard settings, this is what it sounds like.
1988 Yamaha Vmax first start after rebuild
มุมมอง 1K9 ปีที่แล้ว
My first attempt at a start after rebuilding the engine completely. Exhaust is not fully fitted, it hangs from one bolt on each cylinder... Noisy and smoky! But it started right away, having primed the oil pump and the carbs properly before attempting anything.

I got one recently, and I’m hoping I just need to do some work on the power supply. It’s amazing that you found a fully working one
Instead of hacking up a good socket, it’s easy to just get some 1/4” flat bar and measure what size each side needs to be and allow for a bit extra and make cuts into the flat bar that leave about 1/6” so it can be bent easily and with a crisp edge and weld it up.. I’ve made a few giant sockets like that and they’ve always worked for me
In all fairness, I did hack up TWO good sockets. :) I've done the very same as you myself on several occasions. But this time I had sockets and didn't need them, so it was the fastest and cheapest course of action this as I didn't have any available flat stock suitable and would have spent more time and money getting any. If it is any comfort, the guy who needed this gave me a replacement 55mm socket. Thanks for watching!
What key that u press to start boot?
The on/off switch is on the left on the back of the computer when seen from the front. After that, you can press the enter key to cancel the memory test and boot up. If you let the memory test finish, it will boot automatically.
@@AlfOfAllTrades ok understand..the problem is with my on off switch. Its only have red light indicator, nothing happen when i switch on 😓
@@d-simpleexplorer9943 There is another switch on the back that lets you choose to either boot from floppy or from HD. It is the only other switch on the back there. Try toggling it. Maybe the HD has died?
@@AlfOfAllTrades just try, nothing happen , also change switch a,b,dis, still nothing happen
@@AlfOfAllTrades yeah may be hdd dead, i should bring to technician, because i dont understand electrical problem 😁
No part two?
Sadly, no. Two of my cameras decided not to want to record, so I ended up with very little usable footage :( But thanks for watching!
Sounds like my twin cylinder Arctic Cat Quad bike. :-)
Haha, it was running a little rough at the time. After hooking up the sycronisation vacuum meters and some fettling it was purring like a kitten :) Still regret selling that one...
Well, nice old bike in any case :-) Let me know if you want that Stout recipe again. Also, if there is any ingredients you can't source I can send them to you. Cheers, oops, Skål
@@adelarsen9776 Thanks Ade, I'll let you know. I think I've got it covered, as there are some well stocked brewers shops in Trondheim.
Let me know if you got that special Coopers stout recipe from Cal's channel. I can give it to you again. More than happy. Cheers.
@@adelarsen9776 Yep, got it. It is very similar to the one I've used myself in the past.
Lovely summer day. Perfect for a BBQ and beer. Have you found the WIltshireman channel ? He is G0VQW and rides a Royal Enfield. I recommend his channel. Thanks for the bike ride around Trøndelag.
Very good! Thumbs up and Greetings from Ireland! :) !
Dia dhuit! Thanks for the comment, from a former Cork resident for three years. Glad you liked it :)
This isn't Cadbury repainted is it? How long did it take you to rebuild the engine? Well done Alf! :-)
A little late to the party, I guess... Nope, not Cadbury. Would you believe I still have it tucked away? Hopefully this year I'll get it registered... Hope all is well! :)
