Dirt comes out of your laundry- soil is what we grow our pumpkins in.😮
@@jasonquayle7466 I know... Sometimes "dirt" slips out of my mouth, and then I cringe when I listen back on the video 😂.
@ i love your helpful tips and tricks on these videos
How can we connect with you please. Email or message? I have questions about pumpkin seeds please. Jason ( New Zealand) Thank you
@@jasonquayle7466 Hi Jason, unfortunately I can't send seeds internationally. I've tried multiple times, and they get turned away by customs.
Where I live it gets so windy a greenhouse is totally out of the question. Unless you're using lumber on a concrete foundation, a greenhouse is destined to become tattered trash in the neighbor's yards down the street.
I have strong winds most of the year so my husband put ratchet straps across this same green house and anchored the straps in the ground to stop the wind from destroying our greenhouse…it really works 🥰 Ps my husband also put bird netting over the entire greenhouse 😊
Great idea! Love it!
Add in PVC pipe to support sagging roof -- looped like the aluminium.

Amazing review! Could you make a video of your seed collection?😊
Oh man, that's a lot of seeds!
@@pumpkinistahaha i know every grower has a ton and i wonder which you have 😅
Great review! Does it hold the heat nicely? Do you heat the greenhouse in May at night? One idea I had for your short posts, you could PVC glue on a pipe extension so it goes into your soil more. Nice review!
The greenhouse heats up nicely in the sun, but once the sun goes down, it loses all heat. In the spring, I make a mini Quonset hut to go inside the greenhouse and I put a comforter over it at night with a chicken brooder heat lamp and an LED light to keep it warm and give it a little extra light to photosynthesize. I made a video on it and will put the link below. I LOVE your idea about using a pipe extension! Another option might be to stick some rebar in the ground if it would fit up the post. Thanks!
th-cam.com/video/TNqFq9BbWb4/w-d-xo.htmlsi=G4PjoPQLryiw4pDt This is how I keep my plants warm at night and in cloudy weather!
@@pumpkinista Awsome thank you! I will take a look!
@@pumpkinista no problem! I have the same problem. Keeping the hoop warm at night. I think this year I may need to try a light over the plant at night to get a little more photosynthesis going!
Yes on cutting the tendrils, they suck a tremendous amount of energy out of the plant and cut them when very very small
Use way longer stakes and support it with and x on all the leaf stems just under the leaf its self
Thanks!

Mint. Growing Mint and wintergreen will keep rodents away. grow it around the edges like a moat. 1foot width. growing it near outbuildings, garages on the outside will also keep them away. The smell of mint to rodents is like Feces and rotting flesh to us. We can be near it, but will not create a home near it. The plants are low growing and use the chemicals to deter rodents from eating their fruit and leaves.

Hi,is there a way to send the seeds to the Netherlands?
I've tried sending seeds to Europe, and they turned them down. I'm sorry. Your best bet would be to find a grower in Europe or buy from a seed auction this winter at bigpumpkins.com

Okay, but have you become Cinderella with a pumpkin coach to the ball?
I wish!
Can you eat it? Is the flesh inside sweet? Is it tasty?
Technically you can eat it, but they don't taste very good because they're 90% water and very tough/fibrousy.
@pumpkinista Thanks so much for replying! I live in Trinidad and Tobago in the Caribbean and pumpkin is eaten often in our diet. A pumpkin of this size would feed so many people!
Interesting you can pollinate with butternut squash. How do tell if you have male or female flowers? I tried pollinating a zucchini squash this year that had loads of flowers ( still does 11/10! ) but hasn't set a single baby all year
All pumpkins/squash have male and female flowers on them. There are always significantly more males. You can tell the difference because female flowers will have a baby pumpkin at the base, while male flowers only have a stalk.
@@pumpkinista thanks. after watching your videos I realized they were all male flowers I was working with. Maybe becuase I started this plant so late it didnt have any female flowers developed . This is the first year I tried growing it and didnt know what I was doing. Your videos have been helpful. Going to try again next year along with more winter squash and pumpkins !
Can you eat the seeds? Like roast them? If so how do they taste compared to a regular pumpkin seed?
The seeds are HUGE and the shells are very thick. I feel like if you tried roasting them and eating them, the shells would tear up your intestines! Plus, the seeds are much more valuable to share with other to grow other giant pumpkins because of their great genetics.
@pumpkinista ok
Do you every get sprouted seed in those gigantic plants.
@@hopehowell4338 not usually! I usually harvest the seeds before they have a chance to sprout.
Are they still edible?
@@EvolvingLark technically yes, but they don't taste very good because they're 90% water and very tough/fibrousy.
@ So, they’re purely for competition?
@@EvolvingLark I grow mine for competition, yes. That's the main reason for growing them. But after the competition, they often go on display at pumpkin festivals where they get decorated by artists, dropped on cars, and turned into boats for the pumpkin regatta.
@ Pretty sure I still don’t understand the “dropped on cars” bit.

The best answer for what to do with a giant pumpkin is to make a Trebuchet and assert dominance over other farmers by launching it in a large spectacular viewing these other farmers got nothing on you :3
😂
When the human race plays god they create suffering monsters that benefits us, it is a impressive feat but ultimately is a fruitless endeavour. Anyways squash is weird af how the heck is it able to grow to this size 😭 Biggest one I've grown was like 15 centimetres
“Fruitless endeavor” bro it’s a pumpkin
Fruitless endeavor are you blind that's literally a giant fruit.
@@montyshark3993 the most important part is to get a seed from another giant pumpkin (Atlantic Giant Pumpkin variety). If you try any other pumpkin, you'll never get it this size.
