Melting coins just out of curiosity...
มุมมอง 49ปีที่แล้ว
Since we don't have anything to repair this morning, we got curious and decided to try and melt some random coins. As it turns out, all coins are not created equal! (duh). Pennies are different from each other, dimes and nickels are similar.

EPSCoR virus sampling in Nebraska 2019! (short version)
My harness came undone. How do I get it hooked back up without pull the whole lamp out? Yes of course it's the passenger side.
Thank you!
You're welcome! I’m glad it helped!
where did you get the parts
The module was on eBay. I couldn’t find a new replacement anywhere.
If it isnt my favorite rv winterizing channel!
Awesome. Awesome video. I was able to replace my bulb myself. I am so grateful for your video 🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾
Thanks for the post Robert, great help. Can you Recommend a source for the new parts?
I wish I could, but no. The one I used came from Ebay. I tried to find cross-references and came up empty for new replacements. There's so much overlap between Ford and Lincoln I wouldn't be shocked if there is a Ford part that would fit.
Thanks so much for this, several years ago I did pay $300+ each to have this done and thankfully I thought to look for a DIY guide this time around. For anyone reading this, what he says about the plug being directional, you can see a tab on one side of the connector and a slot for it on the light. That should help get it on correctly. Hardest part by far was putting the dust cover back on securely, that thing is real finicky.
Huge huge Ty!!!! I find it so hard for any diy on my 08 mkz
Thank you I have a 2011 VW Roatan let's get to it
If I put those headlights to dodge caravan (hope it's xenon model), am I gonna be able to run Led light on them? Do I need to take out the ballast?
you can get plug and play led replacements for stock HID's on e bay made my auxito
THANK YOU! I was 2 seconds away from removing the headlight to replace a freaking bulb.
Glad it helped!
Can you adjust this up and down?
Great video. Thank you for making it 👍👍
I have the 06 zephyr. It doesn’t have that access door and I’m trying to do the passenger side low beams. Will I be able to do it by just taking the fender liner off?
Probably, the bulb is right behind the plastic. Let me know how it goes!
@@MrRobertFerrell I ended up finding the access point, but it wasn’t ventilated so I didn’t see it the first time lol. I managed to change the bulb. I appreciate your videos on the Zephyr man!!
Nice job buddy!
I have a 2012 and It doesn't have the small vents to take off. I'm thinking of cutting a hole to get to it unless I can get to it another way.
You might be able to get it by taking the screws out of the plastic wheel well and pulling that out.
@@MrRobertFerrell I may do that but I need to get one of those grommet pullers.
All that for a heated seats thanks I'd rather just leave it alone
You're insane... there's NOTHING better than heated seats - except cooled seats!
Hey are all D1S HIDs? there aren't LED converts? Maybe I'd google it.
Thank you so much, you helped me!!
Very helpful, thank you. Do they really charge $400 to change a headlight😮?!
Omg thank you! I was half way through tearing the front end off when I decided to look it up. 😂
I just did this on 2010 mkx but its not working with a new plug and module. I noticed the plug when i unplugged it only has 11 wires not 12. Is one missing? The lights turn on for about 5 seconds and then shut off
I would guess the module is different for different years. When I got my replacement, I compared it with the old unit to be sure everything matched.
Where did you order the part from?
The number I used is the same one from the original module: 7L1T-14B663-BB. (6MXN91805) I got the replacement from an online reseller and the one I used came from a salvage.
Thanks for the video. In my case I simply drilled out the burnt connector in the pigtail, ran a new wire (about 4 inches long ) through the hole with a copper connector on the pin. After reconnecting the pigtail, I soldered the new wire to the one where the contact clip burnt. This worked, showing that in my case the circuit board was still good. The only issue was the burnt connector. All seat heating and cooling functions are working again.
Brilliant! That's a much quicker fix for anyone willing to drill the burnt one.
Another tip on removing the clips, leave the bulb installed and do that first. Then take the bulb out. :)
Trying it out today! Thanks
Good luck! Works great for me! Just let it cure in the sun for a while! Let me know how it goes! (unless it goes horribly)
Can you access the yellow blinker light using the same method? I didn't see it when you pulled out the head light bulb.
Probably. I was able to grab pretty much everything. I will check and update!
Hello and thank you so much for posting this video. The passenger seat works yet the drivers seat doesn't. Really appreciate 🙏 and have a great weekend!
Thanks for the help! I have an 08 Lincoln MKZ and I’ve had for 3years with good luck (knock wood)…. Do you still have this vehicle and and problems, issues to share? Thanks again!!
Still have it! Up over 200K now. No problems really, but when one crops up I will post it!
Isn’t it easier to take out the lamp (unscrewing the 3 screws on top of black metal element above each lamp) completely and then seeing it all do the bulb replacement?
I don't think so. On mine, they are pretty buried and taking the assembly out looks more involved than just reaching in there. It looks like I can take the brackets off from over them but that's like a dozen bolts. Can you send a video?
First of all, thanks for taking the trouble to video this, and upload it. That's a chore in itself. And, opening up the module is a big help. Could be wrong, but it looks like a total of four pins are connected to the same ground area of the PCB, no? Seems like it would be easy enough to splice them all together before they go into the plug. No need for new plug or module!
If your module isn’t burnt it’s probably the heat pad in the seat which you can replace in less than 45 minutes without unbolting the seat.
If the light goes on for 10 secs, but no heating and the turns off that means the pads busted right?
Thanks a lot
❤️

I had fun tracking it down and finding it yesterday, it sucks that for majority of the in-flight footage was fogged up.
That's the nature of science... find problem - solve problem. The rest of the project was a huge success! Perfect launch, reached above 88000 feet, temperatures lower than -40 degrees, near perfect tracking, excellent landing zone... congratulations to the entire team!
It was cool tracking the balloon on and off yesterday during carpentry class. I was surprised how far east it went into NJ and then suddenly drifted sharp west back to Delaware. Fun experiment! -Glen
Yeah truly amazing stuff thank you!
Nice job with the fix Dr. Ferrell! -Glen F.
Thanks! I can't live without heated seats!
Thanks Robert for this helpful video. Much easier than taking the entire front wrap off! I was able to replace passenger side and your process worked. The lamp connector was a challenge since it wasn't shown on video, but I figured out how to release it. Thanks for saving me money and time! Jim landers, st joseph, mo
Glad I could help!
Do you have a part number for the wire harness? Im looking for one but dont want to order the wrong thing.
Pretty sure the one I used is a WPT928
Thank you very much sir! Headache saver!
Excellent, great tip! Watched another about taking the whole bumper off & I'm like, no its Good Friday & late & it just isn't happening. Thank you!!!
Got white leds on mines .. both headlight and fog .. looks beautiful on silver .. also cool white in all interior.. looks more elegant
Thank you for the video. Removing the driver side bulb is easy but when I tried to insert the new bulb and twist it does not stay with the electrical connector facing down (6 o'clock) but rather at 4 o' clock. I tried to insert on several points but did not manage to find a way to twist more. When inserting the bulb did you screw it clockwise or counterclockwise looking the bulb from the perspective if you were on the back of the car?
If you were viewing from the driver seat, I turned it clockwise. I doubt that matters as long as it is seated in the housing and comes on it should work just fine.
Was this tutorial because BOTH seats were not working? I am experiencing a non-working heated/cooled seat on the driver side only.
I noticed it at first on the driver side, but ultimately both front seats failed.
Did you use any type of tool to get the plug out of the module? I know it’s burned in there but is there any trucks u learned? Double checking. Did you press the tab down and pull? Or is there a different way?
Nothing special, just stuck a flathead in there and twisted it a bit all around to break it loose. It was pretty glued in there with that melted part.
i have a question. my heat seater is not working and we are going to attempt to fix it. i have 2008 mkx. the lights on the ip light up all 3 2 and 1 depending on how it is selected. they light up and stay on. my mechanic stated that he believed the lights would turn off once the sensor was alarmed to an issue. question did your ip selection stay lit or did it not come on or shut off? thanks for the video.
A little bit of both. When it first started, they would light up, but nothing would happen. The seats worked intermittently at that point. Once it was totally fried, the lights would come on and then shut off after a short time.
In my case the lights did not come on and the seats would not heat or cool. At the time this problem occurred, there was a noticeable electrical burning smell.
How did you like your MKZ? 2.0 with a turbo right? What was the mpg?
Mine is a V6, normally aspirated non-turbo. I love it. I get about 28mpg average with 190K on the odometer.
boy do i love seeing content from my favorite automotive youtuber
when unbolting the seat, did you have any concerns about the airbag in the seat possibly deploying by accident? I need to remove all the seats on a 2008 Lincoln MKZ and I’m thinking I need to be careful of that.
I wasn't concerned at all. If you're going to remove them (I just tipped the seat backwards) I would disconnect the battery and power the entire car down just to be safe. Check with your local tech to confirm!
thanks a lot ! great video! I will do that "operation" on next monday and with your video its peanuts now!
Good luck! The rubber sleeve cover is pretty tricky, so be ready for that!
