I’m astonished that nobody has watched this. It narrates one of the most important moments of British history, the path to democracy and the foundation of the Trade Union movement.

Following a run of performances in Dorchester in June 2024, a revival of the play "Six Men of Dorset" will be performed on the Friday evening (19th July) of the 2024 Tolpuddle Festival. Although it wont quite have the resonance of the Dorchester performances - 1st half in the Corn Exchange, 2nd half in the restored Court-house where the trial actually took place - it will include the local cast & musicians of the New Hardy Players. It starts at 6pm on Friday 19th July in the Solidarity Tent, and is a performance you wont want to miss!

It’s quite sad what the FA did to Mr Leslie because of the colour of his black skin he was born in but it’s quite heart warming to see the enthusiasm of the organisers of this terrific campaign to right an obvious wrong and acknowledge his great talent. Credit should also go the Plymouth Argyle and all those involved in the background for keeping Jack’s name and legacy alive.

Jack is a absolute Legend and I'm pleased to see he got his recognition with the statue. Not sure how I feel about the honourable England cap it make me feel a bit embarrassed to be English but times were different then. But I'm pleased for his family and with the likes of the people that lobbied for his statue we wouldn't know of people like Jack that graced this great game.

I should have said the last large deep mine, Northern United, closed on Christmas Day 1965, marking the end of deep mining in the Forest. However, small scale free mining continued and still exists today. There was also some open cast mining.

Will the Tolpuddle Martyrs be fighting for reparations for the victims of white slavery too? All those European victims of the African and Middle Eastern slave trade? Given that white slavery lasted much longer than the enslavement of blacks by whites did, and that much higher numbers were involved, you'd think that your organisation would jump at the chance to get involved and fight for justice...
