i been riding for 20 years and still think this shits gay.

I looked them up. They are around 200-250 USD and heavy, but probably great for trails. I like how the rider can use spd sneakers for trails and normal sneakers for beer runs or recovery spins.

It's more dangerous to have your foot come off the pedal by itself than to have your foot be a bit difficult to remove from the pedal.

And with mud under the shoes ?

I would only run clip-ins when I was racing. Trail riding platforms for sure. Last race that put me out, I couldn't unclip fast enough, broken collarbone, wrist, a couple fingers, and some ribs. These look like a huge game changer.
