Finding Beautiful Lake Superior Agates on the North Shore of Minnesota
I got a whole creek full of them!!
Cute lil agate😊
@@KS-jm9uo We were lucky after a day of not finding much to stumble upon this nicely banded little agate!! 😂
Gorgeous 😍
What a beauty!
I think that’s my rock. I lost it in the laundry
@@imerrod That would explain the semi-tumbled look 😂! We acquired this one a few years back and definitely cherish it!
I work an underground construction. When do I work in northern states I constantly get caught putting random stones in my pockets. I had an impressive collection... Till my kids found them.
@@bellaj4215 I bet you found some great rocks in the northern states! With the diverse geology there are some strange and beautiful rocks to be found. Did you have a favorite?
@@TwinAgates I wish I knew what they were. I have pictures but no idea of what I had found.
Maybe you could explain what’s special about the type of rocks you find
@@Week141 Definitely! We come across quite a few Lake Superior agates, so we might start diving deeper into what makes certain ones stand out. This particular agate is large and gemmy!
Prop tip. Actually let your phone focus so we can see what you pick up instead of your dirty hands and blurry rock. This was the actual worst to watch and even begin to understand why you are a little bit happy. Its like you are trying to gate keep info, just say what it is and why its cool. Instead of “oh my gosh”
oh wow you found the rock
Yes we did! And this rock also known as a Lake Superior agate that is estimated to be over a billion years old!
I'm currently around Mackinaw and st Ignace for the rest of the season and i see folks combing the beach rocks is there anything out here to find
@@Mmm-gr7nfYes! I don’t think it’s very common to find Lake Superior agates but it is possible. There are also petoskey stones, other fossils, pudding stones, beach glass and maybe even slag! The rocks are just beautiful in that area.
Awesome thanks I'll make sure to keep an eye to the ground
I know how to find the best stones
7:34 Frog down 😂 good one. Also nice video and great finds!!
I don't think I have seen any agates like that before, where in the upper peninsula were you? Also great video!
@@SH-jk2nt We were up by copper harbor! The agates do look quite different in that area, and thank you!
Woohoo! Love your enthusiasm!
Nice finds!
Oh, the eyes on that first one!
Nice 👍🏻
Great story
Wow 🤯 why does it look stained?
@@Leb-eu3dq I believe that the agate is actually iron stained!
Niiice....
You find some great agates 😁
MORE! WE WANT MORE.
I love hunting agates in Arizona AND on Lake Superior shores!
Cool ❤🎉🎉
Wow 🤯
16K Views! Let's go!!!!
Very unique! Almost looks like a fairburn agate.
É a cabeça do abutre,dos tundercats
Ágata,🎉
Thanks for the video. Very informative
Wow so many pretty rocks 🤩
You guys rock! Another beauty. 👍
A few things. 1. I still miss that rock a little bit, but it's getting some good publicity now so that makes it fine LOL 2. I should have bought that Skip before you had the chance and if you ever sell it I better get first dibs. 3. NODULES
@@jodady1234 We’ll be making a short of it very soon as well so feel free to come visit again and say hi to it! Also don’t worry you have first dibs on it 😂 glad you enjoyed the videos especially the nodules! They are pretty nice aren’t they!!
It's amazing what your cleaning revealed. So pretty! Can you share your method of cleaning?
@@KS-jm9uo Isn’t it amazing what the cleaning can reveal? We’ll eventually create a more in-depth video, but here’s a quick rundown of our cleaning routine: 1.Start by soaking the agates warm water, dish soap, and vinegar. 2.Scrub the agates with a brush(we use an old toothbrush). 3.Soak them in Iron Out for a few hours. 4.Repeat the first two steps. After the second round of soap and vinegar, we soak them in baking soda to balance the pH(this can also help get rid of any weird smells on the agate). 5.Finally, coat the agates with food-grade mineral oil-unless they’re sun-bleached then we skip the oil. Hopefully this was helpful, but keep an eye out for a future video on this!
@@TwinAgates Thank you! I'll give this a try. 🌞
Wow you did a great job cleaning that agate up!
@@Quartzite-m5o Thanks!
Cálida.
Magnificent!
Great find
Oh, what a lovely agate!
watched this with no sound thinking he's not going to touch that red hot rock is he? lol
That amethyst has a dark side...kind of looks like the grim reaper as well lol.
Nice find! Im going now to get that low sunlight. It helps my old eyes see them much better!
@@2badmofo257 Good luck! That’s the best time when the sun sets and they all start to glow!
WOW....awesome! Thank you Mother Superior!
23:46 I've definitely found somthing like this before. Not an agate but still very cool.
15:14 those are some amazing Skips!!
I love the compilations!
Stunning! Thank you for sharing God's beautiful creation.
@ I like the Autumn stones
Beautiful colors! MI, MN or Canadain side of lake superior. Unfortunately I'm from the lower half, michigander.
@@CityRockhounding Thank you! This was found on the MN side of Lake Superior in some landscaping rock!
@@TwinAgates nice, landscape rocks are the best!
Nice LSA, perfect song for it too!
So many beautiful agates! I'm happy to have come across your channel. 😊
