Thanks for the close ups. Those towers used to be where the cables with carts moved the material into the stamp mill. I live nearby and from what I understand the family which owns the property wish they could rid themselves of those structures. They are sick of people trespassing. There is nothing you can enter or explore inside...

I grew up in fairfield in the 80s and 90s and still live there going on 41 years! I used to look at this water tower when i was a little girl and thought there was a princess in there. I could see it from the backyard of the house i grew up in on waterman blvd. I finally took a walk out there as an adult and got to see it closeup. Such a fascinating story of how that used to be a whole city with a hotel on it!

Their is a little lake next to those towers, called Rancho Seco Lk. I caught the Lk. record Largemouth bass from there April 10th, 2004, 18.4 lbs. This year will be the 20th anniversary, and that record still stands today :)

Ha ! What a trip ! I grew up on Swan Way, in FF CA. Lived there from '66 to '84. Looking straight down our street, you could see the "Castle on the Hill" :) Later as I got older, I learned the true story of this place. Still, I always wanted to "trespass" to go see it up close.... but was too busy doing other stupid stuff :) lol

In 1983. I lived on east tabor Avenue in Fairfield, California. I went to Grange junior high. A couple of friends and I set out one Saturday morning to get to Cement Hill. We never made it. Farmer would shoot you with salt pellets.

Recently has been returned to the federal government. Will now be overseen by the National Cemetery Administration. Hopefully it gets the love it needs.
