Please upload the full night train cab ride
Sure. I will try to get it up in the next few days.
Did you film the whole thing?
I did although most of it is just black. I may post it up. I got a ride at sunset too and that video is up here: th-cam.com/video/LoD_i2QQqtg/w-d-xo.html
do wish it had its original cab, but it is what itis
ran and worked on this loco in utah and texas. good to see you doing so much work on her . we did as much as we were allowed to do with the money we had.
Thanks for the comment! Hopefully you can come to CA and see it run in a few years. We are excited to get it done, but still have lots of work to do.
That would be a great loco for a future Train of Lights.
I can hardly wait to go!
Love to run it, just retired as an ENGR.
May i use some of this footage of a project im working on, a film of oceanic in a game doing her maiden voyage with this as her engine room
When was this filmed?
August 24, 2024
So beautiful
Thank you!
Sucks that this is all for nothing (California is banning diesel trains by 2035)
Hopefully it gets moved.. We all know California sucks anyway

OHH YEAH!!!!! ITS ALIVE!!!
Finally the Diesel-Hydraulic is back in operation as a functional locomotive!!!
It sounds like the one from BTTF 3!
Volunteers?
As a US Navy Machines Mate on a Vietnam era DE this makes the 1200 lb steam system spinning a turbine look simple. Amazing finding enough talent to light her off and get underway. Thanks for posting the video. I will visit if I have the chance.
are there any plans to find a second engine & drivetrain for it, or will it just keep the rear power unit?
The second engine is present, but not in great shape. The second transmission was gone before we owned it, and they are made of unobtanium so 9010 will forever run on one engine and one transmission. That is all we need anyway.
@@CRHPhotog oh I bet you guys have the talent to build a new transmission! There's nothing buffs can't do when they set their minds to it! 😉 Check out the Brits diesel rebuilds/new builds for some inspiration. Anyway, a really lovely job on a worthy locomotive. Maybach power unit sounds familiar... like the BR class 52s I used to see as a kid, they had two motors and hydraulic transmission.
Any videos running alone ? ( without 5472 )
Not yet...
I’m hoping to see Robert Dollar Co. #3 in operation at the Niles Canyon Railway over in October 17th 2024, along with Clover Valley Lumber Co. #4.
I did that work 20 years ago. Back then the line extended east to where the connection to the main line was made across Pleasanton-Sunol Road. I hope NCRy can make it to Bernal Road!
Realy nice work guys, It looks like it just came from the factory.
Does it still have a single prime mover or did they finally get a second one for it? Also I have recently received two models of the car body style of the ML4000, I prefer a sound decoder that doesn’t have the maybach prime mover noises but I could use a decoder with either dual 567 or dual 645. Which would be more realistic to have been retrofitted into one of these if possible. I’m leaning towards the dual 567 as the dual 645 has turbo and the model doesn’t have a turbo exhaust stack.
It has a second Maybach engine. However the second engine isn't operational.
Why are the cabeese right behind the loco?
The cabooses are on the train for private parties during the Train of Lights. This is a holiday passenger train and they are just there to carry passengers and not for their original intended purpose of carrying crew to oversee the train. Arguably when the train returns to this station, they are almost on the end as we have locomotives on either end for simplicity of operation.
Thank you! I was dieing of curiosity. Besides, how often does one get to use "cabeese" ?@@CRHPhotog ( :
I love trIns...so did my dad, and so does my son who fallowed in .y dad"s foot steps ass well as i did. We became truck drivers like him. I'm the first and only girl driver in the family. ❤❤❤❤🎉🎉❤❤
Opps, trains😂😂
What will be the total miles when the eastern extension is completed?
(1992!) New titles b made From the 1993 Re-Release Editions!
Im glad we were able to save SP #9010 for preservation. Its a lone survivor. It operates under its own power. All the other ML-4000s from Krauss-Maffei were scrapped.
1744??
Yes. SP #1744
Nice. Do you happen to know which type of Cab Forward this one was?
I think maybe a Southern Pacific AC-3
What other engine ran that day?
Fred Gurley
I have seen this locomotive in operation here, back in July 17th 2022 and March 19th 2023.
It would be sweet seeing 9010 powering a TOL run.
It’s a shame that Quincy Railroad #2 is no longer in operation anymore.
It was making a JACKASS sound!
Sounds absolutely amazing! Proper German hardware
Wow!!! So happy to see it run. I remember see it at SP's Colton yard, years ago.
It was great finally hearing its prime mover, wonderful video!
Now that is classic Maybach power!
Nice video. Map to show where the railroad was extended to and from would be helpful
I was on that train a couple months ago.

My two favorite engines at the niles canyon!
Clover Valley Lumber Co. #4 is another beautiful steam locomotive at the Niles Canyon Railway. I hope they will get Southern Pacific 1744 back in operation soon.
When will number #3 be out again and 4# and 7#?
4 and 7 will run this year. #3 probably will not be out this year unless things change. It is just time to keep three engines within inspection. #3 is ready to go when we need it.
Oh okay also what happens with number 2 it’s not running anymore and they boarded up the windows
@@thealexshow2890 The #2's 1472 day FRA mandated window was up several years ago. With several engines already running and SP #1744 in restoration now joined by SP #2479, the #2 is stored waiting someday for a slot for restoration. It is safe and well cared for.
@@CRHPhotogokay good because I was wondering what happens to number 2 all these years and it’s waiting for restoration meanwhile 1744 and 2479 is being restored for now
That;s a lot better than making HO gauge toys.
So cool. Way more labor than I was imagining.
What's the machine that is pushing 4 arm like things into the gravel on either side of the track? And what is its purpose?
This is a tamper. It is designed to force and compact the rock ballast under the ties to give it a solid base to sit on.
@@CRHPhotog Cool never knew that. Thank you for the information!
Love seeing both old logging locomotives working together! When was this filmed?
Beautiful
Well Done Chris, Thanks
