This week's voice exercise - continuing to push the range. Haven't been able to sing this at all in the last few years. Sort of coming back.
I Have Nothing

This week I've worked with the speech pathologist on the higher register of my voice and was asked to record 2 songs that are a push for my voice, using the techniques we've been working on to keep my voice steady. Pretty happy, considering that a couple of months ago I couldn't even talk at the end of the day let alone sing. This one got me at the end.

As an Australian-born Maori, we never got the cultural exposure these kids did.

Man I just felt like doing the haka ayy my brother's and sisters btw I'm 15 and while I was learning the actions I was getting lost but I found my way to it and got it... when I started though I felt like my wairua changed I'm just glad and proud I was born māori'' and I wouldn't change anything
Do it lander
On some videos I've seen people join in if they've had a haka done to them. My question is, if someone ever performs a haka for me, a pākehā, can I join them if I know the movements and words?
When I've seen this haka performed for someone. They usually join in on the second time. So if you know it, go for it.
Absolutely... First time is you taking in the wairua and feeling the aroha and respect they have for you and acknowledging the party by standing there and absorbing their energy...then by all means give it all you got ♥️
2022 Beautiful…Would love to see them all now❤️
Jade and Josh:what a beautiful song.
An much older Farnsey and he still can out sing the ones who do a cover of this song, but being Aussie it will always be his song as it has a deep connection between John and his fellow Australians.
I learnt this song in 1988 in our primary school choir 😃
May Ukraine have peace soon. #lestweforget 🕊
My 5 kids know this haka, I should've learned this a long time ago
The movie Red Joan brought this song to remembrance. I remember learning it in primary during music class. Whenever Hiroshima is mentioned, this song comes to mind.
Can girls do this
Yes, girls can do this, words are the same, the moves are also the same but far less aggressive and more feminine. Women also may stand behind the men as to follow tradition however they don’t have to. If you have anymore questions let me know😁
@@samanthamatautia9769 thank you I wanted to know for a long time 👍
Just want to learn this incase I have to do it for someone
Learnt this song , Yagoona primary Sydney Australia .

Can someone put the lyrics up?🙏
On what occassion do you perform tika tonu?
Anytime you want to celebrate a young person going through a big pivot in their life (21st, new job, big accomplishment) or when an adult has impacted a lot of youth and people.
Had to learn this haka from scratch within an hour, for a mates wedding and I ended up fucking up so bad I was fully embarrassed. Here I am learning it to a T so I never have to face the embarrassment again.
🤣🤣 hahahaha shame on your undies
@@hokimoki3677 I'm not even Maori so it wasn't easy for me to learn
Respect for giving it a go 👍🙏
@@skux20 Respect 🙏

Probably the best cultural community building device ever. Incorporate colonial and indeginous events/institutions into a social norm celebration of life and death. I need to move to nz

😦Cole Pierce
This Haka makes me cry but I don't know why. It's so emotional and powerful. Thanks for this video. Fantástico!
I love that the young pakeha boys are being taught it. And 95% of them are giving it heaps. They will never forget this haka.
I love you and respect the guidance of tradition. And feel that they express the love of the country and its people. And defend his rights. I love you
What do they say during the second time at 0:54 ?
