I am listening to this while preparing for my father’s funeral, where it will be sung again in recognition of his years in the USN. The generations of service was a lynchpin of his life and thinking about the world. Thanks for sharing this.

This piece was sung at my Mother's service; she was a WAVE in the 1950s. My father was a Naval Aviator when they met in Pensacola.

Having been a Sailor of the United States Navy and a vocalist, I love this song.

My Dear Friend Larry Rubright passed away this morning. The COB served in the USN for 31 years attaining the rank of Sr. Master Chief. It seems appropriate that he hears THE NAVY HYMN one last time! May you have Calm Seas and a Following Wind on your last voyage Master Chief 😢

I’m academy grad, class of ‘94. I was a prior enlisted Marine. One of the things that impressed me most was diversity of midshipmen. I’m not talking about race or sex. Geography, background, beliefs. Diverse yet drawn to service & the heritage of the USNA. Most of these kids could go to school anywhere & be anything. To choose this means something.

Way to sing, NAVY! A West Pointer from many decades ago salute you. Job well done. Thank you for your service in the greatest Navy of all time. Keep the faith.

YES! YES YES YES!!! I LOVE THE ORIGINAL WORDS! And they are so fitting for an army of soldiers to sing!!! "As HE died too make men holy let us die to make men free"!!! It's a sober truth of war that I believe is glossed over when the original words are changed to say "let us live". I don't like war, but this is a battle song that carries so much important history and it must not be altered to fit the times. This song is to be sung as written!!! Wonderful!!!

As beautiful as this is keep in mind that right now the United States military is ACTIVELY HELPING sexual perverts gain access to children. Think about that for just one moment. Almost all Americans stood silently by while thousands of Iraqi children were murdered and maimed. Very sadly, it seems America is experiencing Karma ... you reap what you sow ...

My brother seved in the Navy 20yrs. My cousin served during WWII, two uncles served during WWI. I guess would call us Navy, but had relatives in Army, Air Force, Coast Guard, Marines, and even Merchant Marine during WWII. Very military family we are proud of all served.

not sure if this is a glee club thing but what is the purpose of "Galory Galory" and the other extra "uh' vowels.

I think the Franz Biebl composition of Ave Maria is beautiful. I was at this concert. The sound is amazing when glee club members sing from the other side of the room. Do you by chance have video of the Navy Blue and Gold performance, where alumni participated, and if so, could you please post? Thanks in advance.

This hymn was sung at the funerals of Franklin Delano Roosevelt and John Fitzgerald Kennedy. The former served as Assistant Secretary of the Navy during the First World War, and the latter served in the Navy during the Second World War.

Dad served in the Navy (43-68). Mom was a Navy WAVE during WW2.
