(HOW TO) REMOVE ENGINE COVER ON V6 CHEVY COLORADO/GMC CANYON
Hopefully this helps some people because I had the hardest time getting this cover off of my 2016 GMC Canyon. The final clamp bolt on the throttle body can also be loosened with an 8mm socket and then it all comes right off. Good luck!

Honda HRV On/Off ignition button replacement tutorial
มุมมอง 33K4 ปีที่แล้ว
The on/off ignition button on my 2016 Honda HRV began failing, so this is a replacement tutorial. This is a common issue with this vehicle and other Honda’s so hopefully this is helpful to others. It took all of five minutes and $50 and it’s as good as new.
Thank you!!
This is such a stupid design
Hi! did you program your new push start button or just plug and play? Thanks
Just plug and play fortunately
My Honda hrv 2016 has same problem hard to start on and off I changed the battery and alternator but still have to hard press it multiple times before it starts on and off I guess it’s just the start button thanks for this video tomorrow I’ll go to buy new button myself coz I went to dealer and they want to charge me 399 for it I’ll guess I can do it by myself 😊
If the screw on your throttle body clamp was facing the RIGHT way, that is facing the battery, you could easily loosen it from the other side BEFORE you lift the intake plenum. Someone has obviously had that off before and didn't quite assemble it right. The plenum is held on by three 10mm bolts from the factory, one longer one on the passenger side, and two shorter ones on the front and the top, not "star" tool or whatever you said or 8mm bolts. Someone must have changed those. If the one on top is missing, somebody didn't put it back on. And you never even mention the pcv vent line or the 5/8" vent tube, both of which have to be removed before removing the plenum to prevent damaging them.
Fuck the engineer that thought this was a good idea.
Were you getting key symbol on the dash? My car won’t start and I wondering now if it’s the key switch
Yep, it usually starts taking multiple pushes of the button to start the car until it eventually stops working entirely
Just got one for $30 on Amazon and it fixed my issue! Thanks for the video!!
Just did this. Dealer replaced 3 years ago under recall. Obviously a manufacturing defect that allows moisture to enter into the switch. Expect to replace this every 3 years. My symptoms involved the car randomly trying to start itself and the alarm going off.
U da man, thanks amigo!
Fire your camera man. hehe
Thanks for the info! This was super helpful and saved some 💲
Thanks, this helped so much!
Stupid design so unnecessary.
I had done this when i did spark plugs but had totally forgotten about that pesky little detail. You saved me today. Thank you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
F#@% Thank you sooo much. What a pain in the butt.
THANK YOU!
Yes.gracias
Thanks a lot. Worked!!
Thank you for posting this!
Aha! Thanks, dude!!
Thank you, I was sweatin my ass off for this info.
Yep, that hose clamp to the throttle body was the one I couldn't find that was keeping it from releasing. Thanks
F*ck yeah it helps. Thank you
Excellent video man. First and only video I watched for this issue. Much appreciated.
Exactly what i was looking for👍🏽
Thank you! Finally a good video showing this.
For anyone else attempting this, here's a suggestion; take the air box out! You can remove the air box in a few easy minutes which makes getting to the clamp underneath a piece of cake with a ratchet extension and don't worry about the clamp, it's "fixed" and won't move on you. And when it's time to reassemble, just slightly lubricate the stiff rubber hose with wd-40 or such and pop it on with the palm of your hand. The entire process is easy, I just did it to replace my engine oil cooler lines. Thanks again for the video, it helped alot!
Great tip. Thanks
Thank you
Thank you
hello, where did you order the part from?
Thanks dude 🙌🏻
Simple fix for this problem is to press the button completely and spray a plastic safe electrical cleaning aerosol into the bottom edges. Let the electrical cleaner set until it's completely dry. Your switch will work as if it were brand new again. I used CRC Electro Clean....
Thanks. You made it straight forward and easy.
What year is this ..when you said star tool, I knew right away it’s not a 2018
2016
@@svtferrari ..👍🏻
Dude u saved me from breaking something U are the only. One who shows this Thank U
Thank you..I was soo fkng pissed, irritated I almost said f.it.ripped it off and poured gas on it and start day drinking.
J’ai la même probleme. Ou je pe trouver svp un site pour achete un nouveau bouton? Merci
Thank you for the disassembly video, mine was just dirty, I cleaned contacts with alcohol and the key fob dash light went off. Check out this video before buying a new start button. th-cam.com/video/wDZr14uvAlM/w-d-xo.html
Thanks bro
Chevy made a terrible design with this. Thanks for sharing the quick video!
Yes this is definitely more helpful than other videos I've seen , i hate that it's designed this way , changing spark plugs is ridiculous
Thanks...spent forever looking for that last screw. Video could not have been more clear.
That is some ignorant engineering by GMC
Sir, thank you so much for this video. I just ordered the parts and the tools so I'll give you an update when I change it. I have a 2016 HRV and that light has been on for a bit so I'm relieved that I found a solution. I'll keep you posted.
FYI this part was officially recalled by Honda so you should be able to bring your car to the dealer and they'll replace the part for free
@@svtferrari I did get the notification from Honda. But the joke is that my mileage is way over. Then they wanted to charge me $250 to fix it. I changed it out with the video you made for $56 between the tools and the part. Thanks again so much for your video. Though you didn't make it just for me, I thank God that yours was the one that came up in my search. Thanks again and God bless you.
@@onyx7591 Glad it helped! I was able to submit the receipt for the part to Honda and they reimbursed me for it as well.
Thanks for video. I'm going to send the $40 bill to Honda, I didn't want to go to the dealership and wait. Wish me luck.
I did that and sent them the Amazon receipt and they're going to reimburse me, so you should be able to!
Thanks Alex!
Thank you sir. I about cut my effing intake cover off out of madness this morning lol
Same, such an annoying design!
I got a warranty extension notice on the switch.
Same here, it's about time
Same here. Well… I had to call Honda in order to find that out. They said if the button turned out not to be the issue, it would cost $130 CAD for the diagnostic test 🤯
@@craigrigby-williams5601 I ended up getting one from Amazon - swapped it out and problem solved. Then I disassembled the old one, cleaned the contacts and gave them a coat of electrolytic grease. That one is now in my glove box to be swapped out if/when the problem comes back.
I love you. Thanks g. Was about to break it
Haha same here, so I'm glad it helped you out!
no need to replace. just clean it with contact cleaner. usually it wasn't damage. just dirty inside🙏
