A trip from Skövde to Tibro and back via a detour around Lake Örlen, on smaller asphalt and gravel roads on a windy autumn day with a few rain showers. Sweden, 2024-09-25. Slow TV format, uncut except during stops.
I followed the cycle route Västgötaleden south and east out of Skövde, for about 21 km, although the signage was hard to follow and required a few stops to check the map.
After about 59 km, I joined the old railroad path between Skövde and Karlsborg, which I tried to cycle on my previous trip. This stretch was much better. It was like a gravel road, but a kilometer further, it was converted to a newly asphalted cycle path. What a difference and joy to ride! Especially after 6 Swedish miles in the legs (not counting the half to the railway station).
This is my longest ride by about 10 km margin (20 km if you count the trip to and from the railway station). I tried to limit the pedaling power so I would make it back.
