You are missing the most important component of the swing . The weight in left foot and the “stillness” of the core .
Played just before Christmas and shot an appalling 101. Went out yesterday using Jim's technique and shot 83..needless to say I am a convert.
That’s almost like a miracle 👏🏻😀
Just ditched my Taylormades and bought Cleveland Driver 5 wood 5 hybrid 6789P 52 wedge 58SW I am a 16 hcp I love them cheers Ray
Hi Ray! Cleveland is definitely underrated, I have Cleveland irons, 5-wood, 4-hybrid and putter myself. Great clubs!
What glove size do you wear? I am also looking at oversize dri tacs
I use small.
@@GolfDuff Nice! I wear small as well, looking to buy these soon.
You need to stay more still. Stillness is something he preaches ALOT. I'm thinking of going back to it myself.
Why did you decide to not fully commit to it ?
I just wasn't feeling the power, but I think I will continue to work on it and see if I can't find more power.
your success may well have more to do with the fact you were playing with a more suitable shaft flex for your swing speed....113 to 87 is a MAD improvement nonetheless!!
Shaft flex and luck all in one😉 super happy with 87, my new record is 85. But the last year I was not even close, now I am struggling again just to shoot 100. Golf is hard😀
Keep your weight on the lead foot. You are moving your weight between front and back foot.
Hard for an old dog to learn new tricks😁
@@GolfDuffAgreed. I’m more successful at holding very still & keeping all my weight on my lead foot if I picture a straight vertical line running from the top of my head down through my lead foot and making sure that line doesn’t bend or lean during the swing. And focusing on that seems to have the added benefit of keeping my mind off what my arms and hands are doing. 😎
This Gent is not setting up the way Mr. Veneto instructs. It looks like it would be hard to keep your balance with your feet parallel.
I realized that what I did was wrong. I tried again in this video: th-cam.com/video/MLhytCrcLFQ/w-d-xo.html
Still to much movement in the lower body.
Stillness is very hard. I dance around even when I think I am staying completely still. Golf is hard😉😀
i should have recorded my first time in driving range.
Are* bigger grips better…
Thanks Ben! Fixed it now👍
Jumbo Max xs on all my clubs
Been wanting to try them for a while.
Oversize grips are not for everyone. Also, grip weight is very important.
I think grip weight might be the most important actually. I haven't found out what fits me yet. But I like bigger grips more than those thin grips. Feels better.
you came too early to the conclusion, try a couple of rounds first.
Agreed.
With my swing inconstancy I don't think it matters to much what grips or clubs I use. It was a fun test, but not very scientific😉😁
Have you tried oversized golf grips?
Because you declared Lars does not golf he gets a full pass on everything wrong with his swing 😂
I decided not to help him out to kind of show how the Phigolf does for a swing that is completely wrong. It is a good illustration.
Still pretty long
Can’t say I disagree, still got lots of work to do
Denmark?
Actually I am in Norway 🇳🇴
@@GolfDuff Worked in Oslo in the late90,s. There are simularitys between Danish and n´Norweigan when you speak English. So I forgive my self for making that mistake !
True! Hard to tell the difference, but cool that you heard it!
I am definitely in the high handicap category...New sub and my caddie just got activated....Got ARCCOS for my birthday last month.
Cool! I loved using the Arccos. I later switched to Garmin because of the subscription being to expensive for only 5 months use per year here in Norway. But Arccos is definitely better then what Garmin offer. 100% better! Anyway, thanks for subscribing 👍🙏🏻
@@GolfDuff its not quite florida weather but i live in North Carolina....essentially all year golfing
Sounds amazing! Here in Norway it is more like all year skiing, and some golfing in between😏 Been to the states many times, but never got around to see North or South Carolina. Maybe next time!
I started JVS a lil over a month ago, and I see a huge improvement in everything, short game, long game, putting, basically on one leg. Suffered a ruptured quadriceps tendon on my trail leg (left) in July. Still wearing a brace and doing PT. I know w/o a doubt, that once I’m back close to 💯 as my 62 yo body will allow, I only expect my game to skyrocket. I guess due to the injury, and the approval from my surgeon, and my desire to just start back with only my putter, and build gradually up to driver, was kinda a 💡 moment of truly grasping the saying “strike ball, don’t hit” Btw being that I prefer a pendulum stroke, his putting courses are a blessing 🙏🏿. I played several rounds since I started course 6 weeks ago, friends and unknowns have applauded my putting. It’s a tremendous feeling whenever you need to get up and down for birdie/par that you know if you can just get it up, you’ll get it down in 2 or less; or birdie/ eagle 😎.
Something new always feels great, then it goes away as fast as it comes. Dont over do it now, but your swing looks so easy going and balanced. T
Relax both arms, wrists, hands to where your initial takeaway drags the club from the ground and watch the magic happen 😉
Great tips. I sometimes find being to tense in the swing. Want to learn to become more smooth throughout.
I do to it’s hard to find a really neutral Rt. Grip and remember to keep it close 😂
Golf seem so easy, but is really hard. So many small things that matter. But that´s why it is fun also😃
What if you have no left arm ?😂
Then you can compete in Paralympics😁
@ I’ve got two arms and I still wouldn’t get in the Paralympic team 😂
Yeps, ... works a charm. Shots wil left only for training purposes it's crazy good. Cool you found this. 🤘🏻😎🤘🏻
Good tip, i agree.
👍
Must give this a go! Are you still using the Jim Venetos swing? Keep the videos coming 👍
Hi there! Yeah, you should definitely try it! I have never fully committed to the Venetos swing, but I might in the future. I am always experimenting and trying to find «my perfect swing». Hope to find it one day🙏🏻
Donald Trump is WAAAAYYY better
Of course, he is the president after all🤣
I love these irons. Steel shafts. The 4 iron has a graphite shaft.
Very cool! I think the steel shafts would fit me better actually.
Wow, that is amazing....what a beautiful course--fun comparison!
One of the best courses in Norway. Not super expensive either, so it's a great place to go for some quality golf.
Hey love the videos, what made you move away from the one length cobra irons again?
As with the last time I played one length irons I couldn't get the right gapping on my long irons. I think it is more important to do a custom fitting when playing one length because of this. My 5 and 6 iron had the same distance. Pluss I love to change gear and try new things. Mostly because I love testing gear. But I might go back to one length again at a time in the future. I love the concept.
Wonderful video, Golf Duff. I too have the Cleveland XL irons, and I sure like that Cleveland putter! Golf courses where I live have closed down, but I plan to try a golf simulator today. You have inspired me to do a What's in my bag video...coming soon! Thanks buddy!
Thank you JP! We have the same exquisite taste in clubs😁 Let me know when your what's in the bag video comes out👍 Hope you have a great sim round as well. By the way, check out this video I made a few years ago. It's one of my favorite videos about simulator golf: th-cam.com/video/7NS4uTiF_Vs/w-d-xo.html
Awful.
Hope you are talking about his shots🤦♂️
I’ve started implementing this on the course and it works (with plenty of distance too)
Cool to hear! Glad it is working for you. Are you taking his online school or are you just watching Jims TH-cam videos to learn?
i just got a set and i am loving how they play up to and around the green.. such a poisitive feel.
I have become a big fan of Cleveland golf. They make such amazing gear.
Hard for me to bring to the course
You have tried it on the range then? But find it hard to do on the course?
Just can’t see how this would work with longer irons and driver
I have seen Jim hitting rockets with the driver in his videos, so I guess it works there too. But I haven't really tried yet, as I am focusing on my irons play so far. I am horrible with the driver still, have lost my game there this year. Need to practice a lot this winter I guess.
It does though
Lucky enough to have just been on a golf trip and driver was so bad i tried the JV method after 2 rounds and hit some of the best drives of my life.
@Revellien a golf trip sounds amazing now. Cool that you tried it, and it worked👍👏🏻
Works the same. Just move the ball more forward in your stance. Stay still, 45 degress closed and let yourself finish the swing.
I’ve seen Jim’s technique and I will say this. He really makes it work for him at the range and when he plays. I’m skeptical on if the average Joe can make this work and I’d love to see Jim play a course with multiple awkward lies. Side hill, ball above and below feet as well as uphill and downhill.
I have seen his course playing videos. But there he almost never end up in awkward lie because his accuracy is so good. Maybe that's why we need to play like him, so we never end up in those awkward lies😁
Jim doesn’t need to close his feet he can get shoulders and hip closed to target . He is fine on any line
Pretty good shot
Thanks! It did work. But I am very inconsistent.
Looks perfect! 👌
I see that I still don't manage to stay still, but at least I managed to stay more closed than last time. Hope you like the video, and if you have any questions, please ask.
Your stance is not closed like JiM
Saw that very clearly when I got home and started working on the video. I shot another video two weeks ago. Hopefully I did it better then. Subscribe to see it soon.
@ I haven’t tried it yet (recent foot surgery). But weight on left side, and right foot back seemed to be the two big factors.
Get that right foot back. Don’t rush it, slow down the transition. Think stillness. The absolute crucial aspect it to kept EVERYTHING still except your arms.
Jim says forget about your arms. They’ll do what they have to do. All I think of is to keep my core still.
Golf is hard! Y'alls scores are what I score on a good day. Great to see the comparison, I think that's a big question I had going into potentially purchasing a simulator.
Thank you for commenting, you will get better real soon👍😉. I had to rewatch the video again, it was a very fun day with lots of golf. It was cool to play the same course like this to test and compare. Obviously it is the finding of the golf ball that makes the difference.
Very nice great info thanks:)
Thank you, glad you liked my video.
I sometimes have problems on downhill 3 and 4 foot putts ....if I miss the hole, they sometimes go way past ........any advice
It all depends how fast the greens are on your course as well, seems like the greens could be fast where you play. This is all about tempo and speed of your putts. Get your hands on a putting mat like the wellputt one. They have a zone on the backside of the hole where the goal is to stop the ball inside that zone for your putts to not go way past. It is a nice way to practice. Other than that, it is just practice, practice, practice. Tempo training. But keep in mind that even the pros struggle on the downhill putts. They never put downhill if they have a choice not to, those putts are hard even for them. They always lay up the ball on uphill or neutral places on the green. Thanks for the question Gary👍
that pace on a 2 ft putt will cost you
True that😁
was that a norwegian speed sign
Ha,ha! Yes, no more than 3 km per hour😆
Would it not also depend on the length of your putting stroke? It is impossible to keep it SBST for long putts, isn't it?
The drill in this video is to find your natural putting stroke. If you do a long putt and really need to hit it hard then your stroke will be different of course, but your tendency is still the same as on smaller putts. This is not a completely accurate way to know, then you would need a putter fitting, but to experiment at home and find out how your putter stroke tendency is this is a good drill to do. Now with the invention of the L.A.B putters or the PXG Allan putter with zero torque balance technology this is about to change anyway. What they are saying now is that putting stroke does not matter so much anymore. Very interesting things happening now.
@GolfDuff Thanks a lot for replying. Actually, I'm planning to change my putter and wanted to know how to find out my normal putting stroke style. I'll use your drill to see how it looks. Will also take some videos and see if I can get some clues.
@ribusgan sounds like a great plan👍
That was a great first shot! It was a worm burner, but straight and long!
For a beginner that is an excellent shot. Most of his shots were better than my first.
