2024 Kodiak "Turn the Page" Trip
A "Turn the Page" 8-day reset fishing trip to Kodiak for me . Inspiration, motivation and clarification to overflowing courtesy of Mother Nature. Humbled to be reminded once again of how small I am and the myth of human exceptionalism.
A weeks journey, Saturday Sept. 29 - Saturday Oct. 5, to The Emerald Island, presented in 3 parts, and mercifully cut into (15) chapter segments (I “learned something new” yesterday) to easily navigate the lengthy 48:41 toward something that interests you. And for the archival record, today, October 24, 2024 is my 71st birthday. Thank you very much.

Emil's Lego Guitar Cousin Request Day. Tuesday Aug. 27, 2024
มุมมอง 1642 หลายเดือนก่อน
Lego the Guitar, finally arrived Monday evening, Aug. 26, at the Gothenburg airport after having been mistakenly flown to the Arlanda airport in Stockholm. (An entirely whole other story for a whole other day). What a magical day in Emil's over-the-top in-home recording studio. Watching him take and re-take video until he was satified, which I came to realize is a very high bar indeed. What a d...
Shane Hennessy KEALY’S Pub. Aug. 25, 2024

Shane treats me to fish & chips at KEALY’s pub in Dublin and then we spend the next 2-1/2 magical hours reviewing his new 14fret, short scale Parlor Guitar. No.4 of six in what I call the SE Touring Series. I say ”Touring” because my intent was to provide a no compromise, professional stage instrument that can be carried onto any small regional jet and fit in the plane overhead compartme...

I leave for Dublin on Saturday and Gothenburg Sweden, Tuesday, 27 August. In the wee hours Sunday morning, my best laid plans went sideways. But as my dear departed, mother often reminded me, “The day you die your inbox will be full.”

JwaGuitars SE Touring Series Guitar No.5: 14-fret, 25.0" scale, Florentine cut-away parlor guitar. You know the one. The one with the Oulu Red Pine, Victoria V-braced, Epic Maple Burl Rosette Top, Custom Jwa Sun Headstock Logo and MN Firewood Maple Back and Sides. This series is founded on the notion that string instruments are basically a forest product. They are made from wood. The series beg...

My Life; Always a little bit of This and then That. As my mother would remind me, "Jay the day you die, your inbox will be full." So I try to relax, take a breath, and enjoy the journey. The luthier that finishes No.1 of 6 first, doesn't win anything. No going back . Better places ahead, Brian!
A Clock Fix

A Seth and Thomas pendulum mantle clock fix. It worked for me. Made it up as I went along. The stakes were not that high. And nobody died. Now back to finishing the last two, 14 fret, short scale, parlor guitars in my SE Touring series of six.
Perfection Reflections

Part 1 I read an encouraging word the other day. Published by a longtime family friend in his new book, OLD SCHOOL NEW ART - Craftsmanship: Today’s Avant-Garde. It when something like this, “It has been my experience that many who are drawn to the arts tend to be rabid perfectionists. Just know that in this world there is no such thing as perfect. Striving for perfection kills the very good and...

Thank You Jay for this movie and for the incredible work You’ve done! Next time you are welcome to our home! We love to hear Emil play on the Lego guitar! ❤
Vacker gitarr!❤️👍
Its a guitar, not a drum. Stop banging on it!!!
Sorry you're correct . It is interesting to me that other strings intruments in the percussion family include: violin, viola, cello, double bass and harp.
This is phenomenal! I just came across your page and you have a new buyer here! I can't wait to have the funds to purchase one of your guitars! The quality of the guitar sounds amazing, It's warm but still has a punch to it. Amazing work!
Thank you for your interest. To be clear the background sound track on this video is not coming from this instrument, JwaGuitars SE Touring No.5. Rather, it is a tune by my friend Shane Hennessy playing his song "Montmarte" on his current Maton guitar. Shane will be taking delivery on his new JwaGuitars SE Touring No.4 guitar, the end of August.
@@JwaGuitars Ah Ok! It’s a beautiful guitar, I’m sure he will love it! As for the song, I will have to check it out, I love the melody.
The double rainbow is significant for me, and also significant to the earth and all. In 2005 I went to God about some things, I was praying, interceding...I don't speak what it was, but the message I got back, was God was answering my prayers and intercession, that God was giving me a double rainbow and he told me to go and look out my window and it appeared outside my window. It was the first time I ever saw a double rainbow There had not been any rain. And the message to me was, wherever you see the double rainbow that is where I am going to be working. I will do it. Whenever I am reminded about the double rainbow, I go and look online at present, to see where it is, or if it has appeared, because in this moment I don't know. I just look because I am reminded. He has not forgotten. It has a lot of meaning, of which is not being shared, but I will say this, only a segment, only a part is being done and dealt with not the whole lot. It also has a lot of intesity, and that is what we live with. I have not seen a double rainbow like that. Its beautiful, its also very powerful and dynamic. I had to look where this is on the map, because I don't know, its the way I learn geography. Geography is not my thing, but double rainbows are. Thankyou for sharing, because it is significant. In the midst of everything it makes me smile.

Thank you!
Beautiful guitar. What type of wood is that? I really like it!
Thank you! Western red cedar top with large maple burl rosette. Minnesota firewood maple back and sides.

That is amazing idea. We see that the shape of the guitar is freed from its vicious circle. 😇
Thanks! 🙌🏼

Beautiful instruments! I’ve never seen acoustics made like these.
Thank you!
I normally play a lute or classical guitar. Steel strung acoustics being mostly played by strummers and without a good definition or clarity of individual notes but these sound pretty good to me. Might be interested in buying one. Are they available in the UK?
Hi Carol . Thank you for your interest . I have a commercial UPS account and ship internationally anywhere in the world 2nd day air.
Wow,,, amazing....
Thank you
That's crazy huh? I'm sorry that you are going through this but I know all to well what life can throw at you. Not to go in to too much of a story but I was shot at point blank range 3 yrs ago after coming home and catching my gf in my house with another guy. Now I did keep my cool but I finally said just let me get my things and I will go she said "HELL NO" Get out of here and that's when I lost my ability to think straight so I ran into the house and I proceeded to hit him in the face with my fists I got in three good licks real good ones they connected real good blacked his eye real good then he proceeded to pull out a gun and shoot me in the torso a 40 caliber might I add that night I lost everything I've had in my entire life my home my girlfriend they took me to jail my freedom and a little part of me died that night I drove down to the place this happened so they towed my car I was actually in route to the hospital when they got my car I was driving myself to the hospital my guitar that my dad had given me was almost 50 years old it was a Yamaha acoustic not the best probably made but it was a real family heirloom I feel it was in the car so I was in the hospital probably a month when I got home everything was so foggy in my brain that I just didn't think about that two days after I got home it's when the SWAT team showed up to arrest me in Kentucky if you feel that somebody's going to do you bodily harm you can kill them dead wherever you're at believe that or not and I proceeded to go to jail and I'm still not completely out of the water yet I've taken a plea deal for 10 years and then saying all that back to the guitar once I went to jail I definitely forgot about the guitar then I was thinking about getting out of jail somehow but by the time we did think about it it been so long it was so much money to get the car out it was not even worth it anymore the guitar may have been worth you know two three four hundred dollars it was the principal of it though I guess but yea life has thrown me some great curveballs and we don't get a practice run at it that's what sucks but seems to me you're doing great I'm kind of hoping I can get to where you're at now I think it's the mental things that's bothering me about the whole ordeal of me getting shot and me getting charged in my own home I live with my mom and dad now I'm 40 years old next month I live in a storage building beside their house and if I'm nothing else in this world I'm humbled today I try to be a better person everyday I'm not for sure why I wanted to share that but I think you'll be just fine sir you make some of the greatest looking guitars I've ever seen in my life but your channel has helped me tremendously I've watched the videos over and over and over and over keep doing what you're doing you're helping more people than you know thanks for the videos have a good day
Ohhhhhh my, Brian . I’m so sorry for your troubles . Thank you for your kind words . Be encouraged . You are still a young man, somewhere in the middle season of life, with the worst days of your life likely behind you & done . Cheers, to your bright and promising future.
Thanks for sharing, remember to turn up the recording volume next time it is hard to hear

Hi Jay, Thank you for sharing that interesting lesson; tracing through plastic sheet. It maybe common sense, but many are using the hard ways. This is even better than film carbon paper. Thank you... Woulfe (currently in the tropical Malaysia-Singapore border)

Спасибо за ваши добрые слова
great play!!!!!!!
Great sounding guitar! I'm going to get into guitar making and like the idea of using alternate tonewoods. Have you looked at beech or ash for back and sides?
Gulf Coast livin, love it!
Wow Jay speaking of trees, your music family tree is an inspiration to my music family tree! You gotta new subscriber as soon as you passed on wood condition work and products. Good job on sharing video, thnx! Been admiring your cousin since discovering TH-cam music lessons. He's a joy to listen and watch! The man loves his craft!
