That's really wonderful. I hope I could guide the vibes on those days you and your pals had. I always forget to think about my work outside of my own confined spot and on my equipment. I just make stuff in the space in my apartment.

I don't celebrate. It's my least favorite of the holiday rituals. The only good one is New Years/Eve. A Merry Xmas to you too. This is my gift to whoever may listen.

​@@munetscratch3635 Fake Smiles is basically a Christmas track. I would include it in official xmas music playlists. There's sleigh bells at the end of that one, haha. It was written around this same holly jolly time when it released. A little more to that one. No one plays up the outsider's take. Can't be a downer, eh. I've been thinking about getting into Thanksgiving or Easter music. Untapped market. ;)

That'd be a fun idea. I've had a few people asking about showing some workflow. Maybe some day. I had intended on doing that on Twitch years ago back when I was streaming games. Maybe when I get a new computer? That track was a quick-track experiment. Giving myself time limits and trying to knock something out. Trying to limit over thinking and what not. Fairly simple breakdown: Lots of piano noodling till finding something nice. Much riffing and soloing around, bit of overdubbing. Honestly my favorite part is just make a beat and playing over top of it, not even recording anything, haha. Can sit there for way too long just doing that (like in "Tired of This Place"). I was using the Addictive Keys VST by XLN Audio + effects, overdrive, distortion, reverb on the backing ambient keys, may have been Rhodes. Think a tremolo too. Kept the percussion sequence pretty minimal. Recorded some shakers. Accidentally recorded myself vocalizing a rhythm and kept it in for fun. Was going for some deep and spacious subs to fill up the minimal space. This track led me to making "Collapsing into Endless Foam", "Glocke Blocke" -- kinda an offchute of those. Dunno if any of this info helps, but yeah. Cool to hear you're starting to make tunes. How long have you been at it and what program do you use? If you gotta any questions feel free. ✌

started with FL Studio a few weeks ago, still getting used to the basics. another thing i wanted to ask, do you record your own sounds or do you use templates? i kinda dont have any access to acoustic instruments except a piano. but im wondering if i can replicate that “real sound” with only templates. i saw that you made This Universe is a Cage with only the jazz template, ive been messing around with that alot but i wanna learn to make fusion styled music.

​@@lunsials Sometimes I record my own sounds. I wish I had an actual drum set. I will record various sounds/shakers/etc. Other times I'm using drum one-shot samples from various drum machines. There's also drum VST's -- many of which will use real sounds as their sampling baseline. Lots of free VST's out there too -- From instruments to effects. Nothing wrong with using presets or templates if it's got a sound you want. Especially so when you're just starting off. I made 'Cage' just as a little one-off limitation experiment. If you've got a way to record your piano, I'd say lean into what you've got. Piano is <3. A bit of advice is to mess with everything, turn all the knobs and combine stuff. At least, that's what I did before there was loads of tutorials easily accessible, ha. Trust your ears. Use that EQ. If it sounds good to you, it's probably good. You begin to understand what you like as you keep making stuff / making choices and this eventually becomes your sound over time. You will naturally gravitate towards certain kinds of sounds. Keep exploring music by listening to all kinds of genres and bands. I dunno if what I make is technically considered 'fusion'. Fusion is kinda a catch-all term, especially when selecting a genre on Newgrounds. I just take the sounds and concepts I'm interested in from various genres and smoosh it together through my filter. I don't ever sit down and really think about any of that stuff. I usually start sculpting things out until something reveals itself and go from there. I started long ago with 0 knowledge and just sorta kept poking at the music production beast all these years. The more you make, the better you'll get, and the easier it all becomes.

Don't believe it had an alternate. I've always considered Beautiful Moth and Cold Coffee to be paired with it though.

I used to stream on Twitch for a time. I had the idea to also do music production live there too - never ended up streaming it though. I've thought about doing it off and on. I dunno. I'd need to get a camera and other things. Blahblah. Working on music has always just been my "tune the rest of the world out" space. Maybe It'll happen some day? I can't imagine my process it too unique or outside the box from other folks. It's really simple. These days it's mostly just me+midi keyboard and my DAW. Sometimes recording some stuff through a mic. Guitar/bass. Sometimes synths. "Jon Makes Beats" shows of his workflow and it's fairly similar to mine -- except I use a DAW in replace of his Octotrack/synths. Similar principles though. Check'em out if you haven't.

That's where the whole slow-mo for my video edits come from. As the person who plays the match, you kinda a get it. There are still some moments on playback where I'm like, "wait, what did we do?" -- sometimes something pretty nuanced happens in a single frame. Or mistakes are made, etc. It started with watching matches super slow with the game's built-in playback features, sometimes frame-by-frame... and just decided to do that with video editing.

@@LLAAPPSSEE i noticeda funny thing that double mutant replays are impossible to follow. The shit is literally an anime fight, blinking in and out of existence, all over the map.

@@stingray2223 Yeah, I have a few of these that I'd like to edit. They're really fast slugfests.

It's not projectile spam, the ninja is just zoning him so if the mutant comes close he can punish

SAD! Activates if you're playing keep away for too long -- Not damaging or taking damage. I'm not totally sure the status debuff. I think the enemy will hit you for more damage? Or you start getting less and less options to make. I think it builds up over time and becomes worse. Not sure if any changes have happened to it since I last read about it. Projectile spam can be a bit annoying, but if you use your movement skills effectively / learn which skills can destroy / block enemy projectiles (mutant's shockwave is nice for this) / Perfect block. It can be kinda fun to slip in between them all. Wizard battles are fun. Destroying each other's magic missiles with a magic missile..:D

It is very fun. The game is only $5 -- 1000% worth. Although, this is not how the game is played. This is the aftermath of a battle. Each person makes moves frame-by-frame. :D Kinda like a tactics game. Once the match is over you get cool battle scene.

Bit all over the board from stock DAW, free, to otherwise. I like xln stuff (keys and drums). I sample my own stuff/make noises into microphone. I keep it pretty simple.
