    Can you add water to crock pot to re batch soap

    • @simplesoulorganics
      @simplesoulorganics 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes you can add some water but I would only add a little bit like only half a cup or so in the beginning of rebatching to keep it from burning. Once it starts melting all you have to do is cook out the lye if it's lye heavy then add some super fats 1 oz of oil or some Shea Butter whatever you want to add to make it luxurious then once the pH is good put put it in the mold.

    i poured soap in aluminium foil n it turned white at bottom and started to foam so i sudeenly shifted to normal paper cups but my soap is not setting and it look like bit curdled...wat to do now to make harden?is it usable now?

    • @simplesoulorganics
      @simplesoulorganics ปีที่แล้ว

      Did you make cold-process soap or hot-process soap? If it was cold-pressed soap the Lye might have had a reaction to the aluminum. Sounds like the aluminum was conducting the heat from the Lye and probably cooked the soap, which is safe. That's what hot process soap method does it cooks the lye out of the soap. If that is the case, that would be what caused the soap to turn white. I'm not sure if Lye will burn through the aluminum. I would have to research it. But I know when you cook soap, it does make some bubbles along the edges that are in contact with the heat that may give the appearance of foaming you mentioned. If your soap is not setting up properly, I recommend rebatching it using the hot-process method. You can cook it in a crock pot or a big pot on medium low heat until it is all melted and comes back together again to a state that is shinny and similar to mashed potatoes. After that, put it in a heat safe mold. Let it sit 18-24 hrs then you can take it out and cut it. I hope this helps

      @@simplesoulorganics thanks for the reply mine is cold process soap and how to make in hot process and I don't have crook pot can I go for double boiling?

    • @simplesoulorganics
      @simplesoulorganics ปีที่แล้ว

      You can use a metal pot. You don't need to use a double boiler. Melt the soap over medium heat stirring every 20 minutes or so. You will see the soap go through a few phases. This is normal. Cook it until it looks like mashed potatoes and has a sheen/glisten to it. To test if it is done, You can take a little piece of soap (be careful, it will be extremely hot, and it will burn) immediately run it under cold water to cool it down and squeeze it together. Wash your hands and wrists with it to test it. If it forms together and stays together and the pH doesn't burn your skin, it's done. If it still burns your skin a little, you need to cook the lye out longer.

    • @simplesoulorganics
      @simplesoulorganics ปีที่แล้ว

      During the cook process your soap is going to change form quite a bit. You may notice that the edges start to bubble; this is normal. Once the bubbles rise, you can do one of two things; either you can stir it down gently (recommended if it starts to bubble a lot) or you can leave it to cook. Be sure to scrape the sides of your crock pot while the soap is still in the cook process; if you scrape down while it’s hot, you’ll cut down on the amount of dried soap on the sides before you mold. After awhile, your mix will start to look like Vaseline; it will have a glossy, almost iridescent appearance and will be wax-like to the touch. Depending on your recipe, this can take anywhere from a half hour to an hour. Once you’ve reached this consistency, it’s time for the next step.

    • @simplesoulorganics
      @simplesoulorganics ปีที่แล้ว

      Now that your soap has cooked, turn off the heat in your crock pot. If you are adding fragrance, let the batter to cool for a bit first. Adding fragrance at very high temperatures may cause some of the fragrance to dissipate, leaving you with a faintly scented product. Adding the fragrance under 180ºF will help to keep it in your soap instead of in the air around you. You can also add your colorants at this point. If this is your first time making hot process soap, I would recommend using one color and fragrance until you get use to how the soap behaves when it is cooling. You've scented, you've colored; now it's time to mold! Grab your prepared mold and plop your soap batter in; you can use your spatula to smooth it out, but try to work quickly. If your batter cools down too much, it will be difficult to work with. Once you’ve filled your mold, pick it up and tap it a few times on your workspace counter surface to help work out any air bubbles. If you are using any decorations like lavender buds or glitter on the top, add it now! Decorations will be much easier to place and will stay on better if your soap is still nice and warm when they are added.

    • @simplesoulorganics
      @simplesoulorganics ปีที่แล้ว

      Sorry about that but I use a metal spoon because the Lye breaks down wooden ones really fast and you gotta scrape the sides really good to keep them from getting hard before the rest of the batch can cook into soap. I guess I can try to lower the scraping sound when editing videos. Lol 😅

    I LOVE THE FACT THAT YOU SHOWED US THE MISTAKE AND HOW YOU FIXED THE PROBLEM. I ALSO MADE A MISTAKE BY NOT MIXING THE SOAP BATTER LONG ENOUGH, IN WHICH I HAD A FALSE TRACE. I DIDN'T KNOW IT THEN ( I KNEW THAT ALL OILS AND LYE/ WATER MEASUREMENTS WERE ACCURATE) SO I PUT THE BATTER INTO THE MOLD BUT THE NEXT DAY WHEN I CUT THE LOAF, I COULD SEE EXTRA OIL PITS. SO, LIKE YOU, I JUST RE-BATCHED THE WHOLE LOAF AND ADDED A LITTLE EXTRA OF THE SAME FRAGRANCE OIL, SOME COLORING AND POURED IT INTO THE MOLD AGAIN. IT TURNED OUT TO BE A WONDERFUL SOAP. IT ONLY MAKES SENSE TO NOT THROW THE BATTER AWAY IF IT CAN BE SAVED BY RE-BATCHING. THANK YOU FOR SHOWING US HOW TO SAVE A BATCH OF SOAP. GOOD JOB! YOUR SOAP LOOKS WONDERFUL!

    • @simplesoulorganics

      I don't think I added more water to this because when I made it the first time I already added water. Im pretty sure I just melted it down in the in the crockpot. But I could be mistaken. I have to watch the video again to find out. If I did add water it probably wasn't very much just enough to keep it from sticking to the pot. I wouldn't recommend adding more than an ounce or two but only if needed because you don't want your soaps to turn out water heavy or they will shrink when the water cures out of them.

      The superfats I added at the end were not calculated into my recipe when I calculated the amount of lye I needed in order to achieve a true superfat. In this video I added an additional: 1 Oz. Olive Oil 1 Oz. Shea Butter 1 Oz. Avocado Oil 1 Tablespoon of Glycerin And 4 Oz. Of Jasmine Essential Oil. But you can customize your superfats any way you want to do it and add anything you want to customize your soap with. Nowadays I add Cocoa Butter instead of Glycerin. Hope that helps. 🙂
