Celebrating Schoenberg Recital/Lecture #5 - Cabaret
Pierrot Lunaire, Op. 21 (1912)
Conductor and lecturer - Matilda Hofman
Left Coast Chamber Ensemble
Pierrot Lunaire is Schoenberg’s most popular piece, combining scintillating modernism with entertaining episodes of wry surrealism. The great abundance of activity and simultaneous events in the poetry and instrumental accompaniment can be bewildering at first, but with a clear guided introduction and repeated hearing the delights grow.
Filmed September 29, 2024 at Berkeley California's Hillside Club by Jeremy Knight, EchidnaMedia.
Left Coast Chamber Ensemble, Matilda Hofman, Director
Nikki Einfeld, Reciter
Anna Presler, Violin & Viola,
Tanya Tomkins, Violoncello
Stacey Pelinka, Flute & Piccolo
Jerome Simas, Clarinet and Bass Clarinet
Eric Zivian, Piano
