    Amen. Caring for my Mom through her end of life, with each ER visit, I had to assure the doctors that our goal was comfort. We the caregivers and family members need to be trained to advocate better and help doctors make better care decisions. Those decisions at the end of life are not the same as for one who will thrive

Its people like you who have taken charge and speak so publicly about the work that are responsible for that shift. You were the first person I found when I was looking for training back in 2020. These services are typically private pay and the payment structure is similar to that of home health aides, but we always encourage our students to work on a sliding scale basis and to do pro bono work whenever appropriate to ensure that no one is ever turned away in their time of need due to financial reasons.

    That is such a good point Suzanne. It is one of the reasons I became a Death Doula. My mother in law dies at 57 of pancreatic cancer and it was a VERY difficult and bad death. She spent her last month or so in hospice. When she was actively dying, all the hospice staff left the room. None of her children or their partners had experienced anything as traumatic as this death. When she actually died, within ten minutes she was removed from the room and we did not see her again until she was put in a coffin and into the chapel in the hospice. The family were just abandoned. I was the one doing all the care. It is so important, especially when someone is dying before their time, and of a terminal illness, that the family is also cared for. Thank you for bringing that up. These are the spaces were Death Doula's can really help x

    With the natural death at home, which I absolutely think is the best way if possible. How long do you think the body should remain there so the family can come visit and physically slow down, mourn and feel what's actually going on around, you as you mentioned, before mysteriously whisking away away... For all those costly, silly, old broken paradigms and procedures. We don't have to do it that way. So many more options and thank you for illuminating that for others! ✌🏼&❤️

    • @AskaDeathDoula
      @AskaDeathDoula หลายเดือนก่อน

      There are some regulations for how long a loved ones body can stay in the home depending on where you live, so you would want to familiarize yourself with the laws. And make sure you have proper supplies to keep the body cool. But taking the time to allow everyone to mourn and say their goodbyes is so important to the grieving process, so grateful to be able to share this information. <3

    We have a green graveyard in Ireland (as well as the option for aquamation which is very new and not advertised as of yet). The green graveyard was offered by a citizen who bought the land specifically for that purpose. On every grave a tree is planted (you can choose your tree 😊) and when the graveyard is full it becomes woodland. It is a wonderful place, you can even bury your own loved one if you wish. They can be shrouded or in natural coffins/boxes. You can really create a beautiful funeral for your loved one. The plots are also affordable, unlike graveyards as most of them have no room left. The land is also in a rural area. I have been to a burial here, it was the most beautiful burial I have ever seen ❤
