I always find it fascinating that birds can use their beaks to pick up something from a surface in the blink of an eye yet they almost never bump their beaks accidentally by miscalculating the distance. I mean none of them in the video poked the ladies hand even slightly. For reference if she fed my dog like this, he sure would have mistaken her pinkie for a kibble at least 5 outta 2. Heck, even if she offered me some I wouldn't be able to pick em up in the first try without touching her and eventually just ask for the bag.. Dammit.. I just remembered I ate eggs this morning. I feel so bad eating eggs sometimes. On top of that I feed some to my canary and he likes it. I mean there's something disturbing here right?

Love the male Red Bellied Woodpecker...they are so pretty! I also love the little chickadees. But, I think my favorite backyard birds are the friendly Nuthatches. I don't feed mine from my hand (which is really nice), but enjoy them all at my feeders too! I ❤ birds!

Wow, that brought back memories of my red bellied friend. I almost was where you are until little humans with bb guns ended his life. They are truly amazing and quite easy to tame like that. Ty for sharing 😊

We used to 'have' a nuthatch we nicknamed Peep (for obvious reasons) who would do this, and actually became quite tame, bold and a little demanding too, until one time the poor thing flew straight into the apartment and panicked. I had to help it it find its way out as it was sitting 'panting' in panic on top of the tv with no idea where it was. As soon as it recognised me it flew to me and clung to my sweater, where I tried to comfort it as I took it outside. It was much more cautious for a while after that, but grew in confidence - only for the silly thing to go and do the same thing again a few months later. 😏

THE RED-BELLIED WOODPECKER IS TEASING THE OTHER BIRDS AS HE FLAUNTS EVERY BITE WITH HIS TONGUE! HE SAYS, "I OWN THIS HUMAN!"

I so wish I could do that. I'm disabled though, and ever since I landed in a wheelchair I've had to make to with watching nature at a distance. I do love birds and all animals though, so I'm very glad you posted this.
