It's ironic that Tristan is talking about this complex nuanced situation and Bill Maher is reducing it to 'Companies Are Evil'

the technology and social media companies now hire people like this to come up with ways and channels of keeping us glued to the screens, in simpler terms they are zombiefying the masses to maximise profit and keep the people ignorant and unplugged from what is really happening around them and the world.

Finally someone is talking sense. We should put the phone down and talk to people face to face or via an old fashioned voice call. I believe we were happier in general and less stressed before the advent of the internet and smart phones. Most of these social apps are actually anti-social.

It is encouraging that TH-cam is directing me to videos like this. Perhaps there will start to be more and more people pushed along the same route. Momentum can build for good on these platforms too.

I do 100 % agree with Tristan and I have been lestning to his talks for the last 2 weeks and I have started conveying his message to everybody I can get to but my voice is very far from many people that I'm sure that this will change to way send time especially kids and youth.

I'm really shocked that there is no comments on this important topic. It's been more than one year with 9K views and no body commented on this. This is my first time commenting on any TH-cam video but I do read other people's comments all the time. I have notice that many people comment on things in a way that you really don't benefit anything from.

I'm really shocked that there is only 4 comments on this important topic. It's been almost one year with 9.6K views and only four people reacted about this. Arabic For Our kids العربية لأطفالنا maybe TH-cam (goggle) is burying it in video searches, most Maher videos have hundreds of thousands of views.

Its simple, people don't like to hear bad news. The one who has been conscious about their social media/mobile-phone usage is yet few. We live in a very segregated society where the phones has become more important than actual social contact. Wait a few years... It took time before people realized that cigaretts was no good! Meanwhile, see yourself as one of the few who have woken up from the Matrix ;)

Whats amazing with people like him and chalak from facebook and anyone talking about how technology and these phones and particularly FaceF*ck and Twatter and Snapsh*t ruin our lives, the audience is always very quiet about it. Funny..., we like commenting and criticizing stuff all the time but when its our own fault and we can't admit that we are addicted we don't speak up....

The attention is currency because we'd rather swipe endlessly instead of paying for what we really want/need. And why call out only Apple FFS?

Or just send good old e-mail that you can send immediately and waits for Nancy in her inbox until she's ready to deal with it. OR send a chat message to her ONLY if it's urgent. Hangouts and most other chat services and even operating systems they are running on have some kind of DND for that. People just have to learn to use them. I have Hangouts enabled only in Inbox/Gmail and open those only when I'm willing to be disturbed. And it's a good practice to let people know when their cause wasn't urgent and that you won't tolerate them distracting you in the future and that they risk losing the PRIVILEGE to disturb you. You can mute their notifications / calls etc. should they continue to violate that.

whatsapp should let us determine when the message is to be delivered! after a delay or at a specific time of the day. I create a MUTED group, that will make no sound, I call it NoHurryGroup, so everyone there keep it muted, and without notifications, and we can avoid needlessly bothering each other!
